Extra Credits - leftie gaming channel that had two of its members accused of "misconduct" in only 2 months

That dumb bitch who said that dislikes are good because they're engagement, I'll just post this again like I do every time someone on YouTube says "dislikes are good"

A few dislikes is fine, considered normal by the algorithm, and does count as engagement, roughly by a ratio of 1 dislikes to 10 likes.

The opposite scenario? Well, your shit video gets buried and hidden in searches because the search engine considers it completely and utterly fucking irrelevant!
The channel jelloapocalypse tried to pull that argument after a really disastrous "vote" video back in 2018. It took less than a week of hemorrhaging subscribers before he realized he fucked and made the video private, but people were still linking to it and mocking him so he deleted it off the channel.
Anyone who claims negative reception is good because it's engagement is just attempting major damage control.

Also i like how they put Rainbow 6 siege as en example when their characters iirc have their own morals lorewise. fucking up the point they're trying to make. i think their perfect game would be making something like a pvp carebear game where you have to give hugs to every player and everyone wins more or less depending of how many hugs they gave to people. i don't see other way to cater to their shenanigans.

So.... sarcastiball.

Wait... what? What was the vid? I love jellopcalypse. His welcome to tumblr video still cracks me up.

We should ban playing as US forces in between 2008-2016 because every soldier from Marine grunt to 5 star general officer was a Democrat, and the Democrats founded the KKK.

Edit: Actually come to think of it the administration during WW2 was Democrat too, LOL
  • Ban America in WW2 games because we interned Japanese Americans and nuked Japan twice.
  • Ban the UK in WW2 games because they represent imperialism.
  • Ban the USSR in WW2 games because they brutalized civilians regularly when they were pushing back against the German army.
  • Ban France in WW2 games because after northern France was reclaimed men found women who slept with German officers and shaved their heads for being thots, and that's disrespectful to women.
  • Ban Japan in WW2 games because of Unit 733 and the Rape of Nanking
  • Ban Italy in WW2 games because they made good food for their POWs and WAR IS NOT A VACATION REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Should we be requesting an extra credit history video on some of the 2nd world war events? That would certainly be entertaining.

I can't wait until they do a video that has a boilerplate to remind you that nazis are evil that is played more frequently than all the products they're shilling.

Well just the title of the new vid is complete cancer so the contents aren't exactly shocking. It's your typical "Why would you EVER want to play a BAD person in a video game" sentiment that I've heard before. Again.. Is this really an actual problem or are they just making shit up? How many people have actually complained about playing as nazis or terrorists in multiplayer games. I somehow doubt that there are people who suddenly start thinking genocide is super cool after playing a nazi a few times.

There are thousands of games in which you play a morally dark character so why is it only a problem if it's a nazi? It's okay to play GTA and just destroy the city for your own gain but playing a nazi is just too far for some reason?

Also I think it would be pretty interesting if a game explored a sympathetic nazi in a WW2 setting. Someone who didn't exactly want to be a nazi and just had to do so or someone who starts out enthusiastic only to become more and more disillusioned from the nazi ideals. That sounds like a pretty compelling story especially in video game form. So we're just meant to avoid placing the player in a situation where they might feel bad? Players should only feel positivity from games at all times? No game should challenge your preconceptions? We shouldn't see things from another point of view? The only valuable view is the norm?

It's pathetic. I've always thought EC had some shit opinions on video games but this one really takes the cake and then bakes a couple more to steal for good measure. Garbage.

It's just more paternalistic "father knows best" moralizing by some holier then thou art imbecile who monologues at length about how you should live your own life. Instead of an evangelical Christian doing it though, it's this new and weird progressive religion.

After playing the original Star Craft, I prank called the space locusts about how tasty the capital world of the local human space empire was. After they invaded, the regional alien political superpower swung by and glassed the planet. Good times.

Eh thats not really the case, if you search extra credits that video pops up first
Also because they made a 'controversial' video, various you-tubers like quater pounder with cheese made response videos this made more people watch the video (even some who may have not even heard of them).
It seems to be working as their video has more views than some of their other videos uploaded a few days ago and it has only been around 1 day.

Yeah, but that's how it often goes. People will go to laugh at this one, really stupid video, then go out of their way to avoid them from now on, or until they do another really stupid thing. At the same time they drove away a bunch of their regular fans who would have keep watching their videos otherwise.

I don't know if there's a name for it, but it goes like this;

1. Youtuber/ Content creator makes poorly crafted "woke" video

2. Everyone goes to laugh at their stupidity for a minute, they get a brief view spike

3. The creator vehemently defends their video, saying anyone who disagree's with them is wrong/ a Nazi. This makes them look like a bigger retard and drives away fans with different views.

4. Everyone moves on with their lives, but makes sure to avoid the content creator now, even if they post something that would have interested them in the future.

5. The Content creator ultimately losses more then they gained, and either turns themselves around and redeems themselves or, far more likely, doubles down because they have a messiah complex and drive more people way and goes spiraling towards irrelevancy.

It's just the way of things now-a-days. The Internet had done away with the idea of there being "no such thing as bad publicity".

It feels like every time you call out people like this you always have white knights who say stuff like “we’re not saying it causes people to be fascist it just causes people to develop fascist attitudes,” And bring up “much birth of a nation” as an example of media influencing people as if that film was solely responsible for causing the Klan to have a resurgence.

The funny thing is that these same people would happily argue that violence is okay in video games because they don't influence you as heavily as someone like Jack Thompson would like you to believe. Yet they seem to completely ignore that argument when they're bring up other stupid shit despite using that exact same logic in other contexts, these people are truly are idiots.

But will that increased viewership stick around? I doubt it, and now they have a completely exceptional video that will make everyone think twice about watching their content. I can't think of anyone that's gotten increased viewership after releasing a completely garbage video, maybe a few that got by unscathed viewership wise, but if there's no increase in viewers then all you've done is give the opposition ammo, so even then a net lose.

It looks to me like EC is trying to get that “breadtube” audience. An audience with an insatiable appetite for pseudo intellectuals and historical revisionists.
