Because nowadays they've decided that Age=Power, and a power imbalance=rape. It'll go out of fashion once a few people get held accountable and liable for trying to ruin some man's life over some sex (or God forbid a kiss) that they consented to years ago but have suddenly changed their mind about. I mean, obviously there will always be psycho bitches trying to ruin and kill men in this manner, but I imagine you'll see a noticeable drop in numbers. The question is how much damage have they done to women's ability to work with men, and the everyday interactions between men and women in general.
I do genuinely think we can come back from this, but it feels like we've been set back thirty years, so it's gonna take some time.
The damage is enormous. People quite gleefully tore down the old gender norms and customs, such as not allowing unmarried women to be in the presence of men without a chaperone, or giving less credulity to female testimony in court trials without corroborating witnesses. Nobody really bothered to ask WHY these things became customary. They just assume evil men oppressing wahmen. I myself largely assumed this as well. But seeing this case and the kavenaugh debacle I have begun to wonder that these practices were not impositions by men against women, but rather men defending themselves FROM women.
And the more i think about it, the more I wonder if that might be true. My thoughts are anecdotal but I dont think they are unique. You are already seeing men refuse to work with women professionally unless a chaperone is present. A practice that went away decades ago is coming back with a fury.
