I think the money is part of it but secondary to the power aspect. It's both which is why you see him cackling like a supervillain about potential damages in court but also pursuing more relatively benign things like his stupid delegations to council. On twitter he's said things like, "I'm going to make X happen!" and what he means is that he's going to present to council about X. I think he wants people to think he has power. The money is secondary to that, but also important to him. If he asks for money he both potentially gets money but also "I'm suing you for ONE BILLION DOLLARS" tends to instill more fear in the victim than "I'm going to take you to the tribunal on principal so hopefully this doesn't happen to someone else". Disagree. This is indeed about trans rights. You can not remove that facet from this case. This case doesn’t determine whether on not Yaniv is a “legit” transperson becauses he’s already been deemed as such under Canadian law.

Take away Jon and all of his particulars from the equation and what are you left with: a man who identifies as female proclaiming that his rights as a transwoman— a protected class under Canadian law— are being violated by women denying him a service because of his specific gender identity. Not his religion, not his ethnicity, his gender identity.

The trans angle to this case shouldn’t be disregarded because Yaniv himself is simply using it as a shield. If another transwoman without Yaniv’s baggage was arguing the same case in front of the BCHRT, what do you think the outcome would be?

Karlene mentions covering a case where a Burlington business owner once told a man not to smoke a joint in his restaurant and was taken to Ontario's HRT for huge $ prior to blanket non-smoking laws. Jay summarizes the dismissed complaints (the ones available on the BCHRT website) and suggests that dropping a supposedly serious human rights complaint shows questionable intent. Jay gets to elevator-pitch the JCCF's non-denominational mission of protecting constitutional rights.

I could believe that if he'd been satisfied with the first (and to my knowledge only) session he had, done by a provider who was actually willing to do what he wanted. The fact that he's only ever talked about getting waxed that one time and never even hinted at having it done again suggests that he only did it to try to present a facade ("see? They aren’t religious Jews at all. In fact, given the Ukraine and Israeli origins I’d go with daddy Yaniv shady money launderer /fraudster type. It could be my personal experience and bias, but my aunt lived near what was called “Little Odessa” in Brooklyn and i almost always assume many eastern bloc Jews that immigrated from Papa Yaniv’s generation are gangsters, fraudsters or just scam artists. Some law changes in 1988 put a cap on soviet Jews entering the USA, but a few years later the Soviet Bloc pretty much opened the gates and let any Jew go to Israel. What happened was you had the initial immigration to Israeli and then after some years on to the USA and Canada and the gangsters dominated this immigration route. Even upstanding, totally legit jewish people had to deal with these gangster types to immigrate and build a life for the first few years because they had so much power.

The Russian jewish gangster shit was no different than what the Italians and Irish communities did when they first arrived in the USA. But the Russian jewish community got involved with more advanced financial crimes and Medicaid fraud big time, it helped they had fellow Jews in totally off the books, cash run, Hasidic communities to use too and it was esp useful that so many fellow Soviet Jew immigrants were doctors. They would actually help doctors immigrate, get them licensed in NY and then force them to run practices that were just total scams for Medicaid fraud.

I only suspect Papa Yaniv because most legit soviet Jews built businesses and careers that are easy enough to find out about with just cursory research. The legit immigrant Jews are generally successful and community oriented. They make ancestry research a breeze because they publish a lot about community activities, charity work, events, businesses, deaths, bar mitzvahs, etc... They are a community that loves to document stuff. The fact there is almost nothing to be found about old Papa Yaniv, who I believe only died in the last ten years, seems suspicious. But more than that the activities of his son make me think Jonathan learned something about engaging in fraud, bullying and abusing govt systems for fraud/extortion at home. The complete lack of notes about them in regards to religious life show they had next to no real religious ties to the jewish community, which is actually not unusual for Soviet Jews - they tended to be less religious on the whole.

What I find strange in Johnny boy has had no real job since his attempts at college a decade ago - just his scammy "trusted nerd" bullshit. Mamma supposedly worked at a hospital. So unemployed son and mother with a, at best, middle-class job somehow bought two condos that cost at least $250k a pop? (The real estate market in Vancouver is ridiculous, it's Canada's own San Fran.) It's postulated that JY is doing this for the money. I can't be certain what's going on in his head but I do want to point out an argument that it may not actually be the case. JY just has weird expectations of the world. Examples from talking with TOL council include building a traffic circle and lights on empty roads, having the township ban this website, giving each student a panic alarm incase of bullying. I don't dislike your post but I do disagree with your conclusion that Yaniv expected to get waxed. I don't think he went into this actually wanting a ball wax, otherwise he would have simply gone to a salon that specializes in men's care.

He has shown over and over again that he has a sexual fetish for exploiting women, invading women's spaces, and intentionally violating their boundaries. He has a long history of exposing women and girls to inappropriate sexually charged photos because that's his fetish. He started claiming the trans identity when he realized that it would give him power to enter women's spaces to access more targets. It also gave him power to shield himself from criticism. Yaniv specifically targeted disadvantaged women because he knows that they would be less likely to fight back.

Sex crimes are crimes of power. Hurting and humiliating other people makes him feel good, and he uses sex to accomplish that. He has a sexual fetish for degrading young women and girls, and additionally he seems to have a pathological need to seek attention. Yaniv is attempting to gain both money from settling with the salons and social power as a Real and True Woman through the HRT. The waxing debacle is a means to an end, i.e. accessing easy victims as well as making a few dollars by bullying them into settling.

This was all going according to plan, except for the whole Kiwi Farms fucking up his shit thing that he didn't count on or know how to handle.

Thing is, I don't suspect it would've gotten this far. Certainly not sixteen fuckin' complaints. When people who aren't racist control freaks hear "I don't know how to wax the genitals you have", they go "Oh, I don't want my balls ripped in twain, I guess I better find someone who can wax those".

Moreover, most sane fucking people would likely seek out a business that advertises itself as friendly to their group. There's an old barber near me, for example, that says outright he won't cut female hair, even if you want a masculine haircut.
