LSD plays an interesting role in this whole affair. There was a video posted in this thread a while back weighing in on its influence on the events, and it compared Liu to a Charles Manson figure. Somebody who gives their victims LSD to inspire loyalty and tear them away from their existing relationships.
Reposting for relevance.
Opiates is a very good guess given where he lives and what his situation is, but as Manly pointed out, it's more likely to be acid. There was that tweet a while back from one of Tyler's new friends saying that they had a great time tripping balls with him and Liu.

As somebody who is a fan of psychedelics and advocates their use in mental health treatment, I do find it a little odd that Tyler would be "begging" for more of the drug. Usually, even people who enjoyed the experience don't want to do it again any time soon because it was simply too intense and terrifying. Myself included. This leads me to the conclusion that Tyler is one of those people whose depression is very susceptible to psychedelic treatment:

There is a lot more literature on this subject out there. Studies showing that it can alleviate treatment-resistant depression for up to 14 months, all sorts of interesting things that happen when LSD binds with the serotonin receptors, the re-wiring of brain patterns that have gotten 'stagnant.'
I think when Tyler tripped with Liu, he suddenly found his depressive symptoms begin to decrease. Unfortunately, this came along with an outpouring of unexpected emotions. He suddenly felt guilt and love more strongly as well. This explains why he went on this "zen" and "forgiveness" kick (two sentiments often brought on by psychedelics as well) as he felt bad for Sheepover, but madly grateful and affectionate towards Liu.
Much to the benefit and delight of our little exceptional vampire, Liu, who likes her men to be as emotionally dependent on her as she is on them for doing basic things like reading and writing (we learned on the Killstream that she struggles with these things lol).
