Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

So what's the story behind this? Some anime youtuber pissed off Crunchyroll, and then donated a bunch of money to one of those anime dorm kickstarters to spite them?
actually: Some Animetuber was arguing that Crunchyroll and friends are working against the idea of fair competition by scooping up exclusive deals without innovating their service. As in it isn't "Who has the best player/site for my purposes?" but "Oh if i want to watch Attack on Titan my ONLY choice is Crunchyroll" and little to none of the money goes to anime producers themselves anyways so you might as well pirate Anime because there you can at least pick your favorite poison while not supporting the industry. As a means to do that last part he chose to rally his fans to donate to this Dormitory project because that is money going directly to Animators in japan and as such better support to the industry than paying for streaming services.

How could anyone who's read the depositions

Very brave of you to assume they know how to read~

And then you have to look that the "affidavits" were given by a very interconnected, basically incestuous crowd. Several of those people have been outed as prolific liars, power abusers and sex pests (like Faisal, Manjawlo) or simply bitter exes. What kind of attourney would even file that garbage without authenticating it. Apart from corrupt people or someone who basically got physically and mentally ill after getting bitten by a mosquito?

AND you have to remember that many of these stories have already been proven false- The two that have reentered the public eye the most are Kara Edwards and Michelle Blankenship McConnel.

Aka:
Dance/Tickle Rape and Crazy fucking photoshop cunt.

Btw, my favorite moment of Weeb Wars, hands down, has to be Michelle saying: "How DARE you call my kids r.etarded! ONLY TWO OF THEM ARE R.ETARDED!"

Kelly Onelani Loftus

Truly one of the most boring NEETs alive.

So probably the only "victim" so far that doesnt seem to have a clear bias or doesnt seem to have a connection with the defendants. At worst her allegation is that Vic called her "princess" the horror. Then when asked for a pic he hugged her and kissed her on the cheek with his sloppy wop lips like he does for his fans. How can vic think you are not a fan when you 1, asked him to sign some shit and 2, asked for a picture with him. And Never said once, dont call me princess or dont touch me and never mentionned how uncomfortable and raped she was before this all blew over.

We checked and there were zero negative things said at the time publicly, if so they got deleted, although why do that when you can point at it and say "see!". Me thinks she had posted the photo she took with him and went back and deleted it. But yes, it is very likely Vic did exactly what she said. The worst that should end up in is a "hey that wasn't okay" and maybe a reprimand by higher ups if she decided to push it further, so he could idk... know where the line is? Thats not something you should lose a career over by any stretch of the imagination.

De'Aaron Fox, nba payer who plays for the king, did the kamehameha after hitting a basket, and later did an interview:
Michael B. Jordan loves Naruto.
Kanye West says Akira is his biggest inspiration and you can see it in his work.
Tobey McGuire enjoyed Robotech, and bought the rights for it back in 2007. (But surprise, Sony bought in 2015, and the movie is going forward to be made, with the director of IT now directing it.)
Ronda Rousey would have gone 'Cartoon for Vegeta' (her words lol)

Its been over the past decade that anime has really stepped it up, since millennials basically grow up with them and now they
are in the forefront of entertainment.

The Wachowskis said Matrix was inspired by Ghost in the Shell, but normal moviegoers wouldn't know that without looking further into it (which was just as simple as watching the behind-the-scenes, but how many non-geeks watch those?). Black Swan also had a scene ripped directly from Perfect Blue, if not the entire movie itself.

Robin Williams was a huge fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

William Shatner has seen at least Sailor Moon. George Takei likes Akira and has been pretty passionate about the filmmakers avoiding white-washing for the live-action film (this was almost ten years ago, too).

But many of those people named are practically certified nerds, and anime/manga is a nerdy hobby that's akin to comic books and sci-fi junkies here (though the overlap is really broad). It really was only a matter of time before anime became more mainstream and attracted the crazies who wished to recreate it into their own image.

Even the SJWs are turning on Marvel Comics. Sina Grace, a lispy queer if ever there was one, got given a job so Marvel could say they had a lispy queer on staff. Literally a token diversity hire.

Somehow around this time, they retconned Ice Man, a very heterosexual character, into Sina Grace with superpowers -- a very offensive stereotype of a sociopathic lispy queer. It bombed, because no one wants to read some flaming faggot pretend to be Iceman. They brought it back immediately because SJW comics never fail, they just become miniserieses. It bombed again.

Sina Grace apparently started demanding additional work from Marvel despite driving a property into the ground, as well as a special support staff just for him to push his books and fight twitter battles for him. He then apparently started going rogue and marketing the book without permission of Marvel, including leaking plot points and shit from several Marvel properties to draw attention towards himself (and his book, but mostly himself). So they clipped his wings and demanded he stop being so much of a Sina Grace.

After he sucked as much out of Marvel as he could and burned those bridges, he left and wrote up a huge tumblr blog post about how they wronged him.

The ex-Gawker and other SJW comics sites spread it around, which in any other industry would end Sina's career. Who knows what he's doing now. The Big 2 and Lesser 3 have lots of SJWs on staff thanks to years of entryism, so he's probably not hurting for work.

Gay people and especially gay comic fans HATE Sina Grace more than the normies. Sina is the gay equivalent of one of those late life Born Again Christians who go around telling the lifelong believers how they are doing it wrong. Grace only realized he was gay late in life. Well 8nto his 30’s, and he is evangelizing it. So the embarrassing mess that is Iceman. People like Sina Grace embarrass and annoy the normal gays.

Most of the anitubers were pissed at Crunchyroll. The deal with Crunchyroll is part of your monthly subscription was supposed to go back to the anime houses, based on what you watch. But instead CR is funneling it to the sour faced dangerhaired feminist SJW jobs program that is High Guardian Spice. That really pissed the ani weebs off.

Huh...when they were first discovered, one of them didn't care. I guess that changed real quick. I guess that means both of them have something to hide then.
The sequence of events was fairly funny.

-IIRC They were found out mid-ish afternoon PST on whatever day that was via lipreading, some clues left behind by Ron and Monica, aided by the fact that there are a surprisingly small number of cosplay twins.
-They were then doxed because Nothing is Beyond Our Reach, also they weren't exactly hiding themselves generally, just the fact that they were one of the stories.
-One of them (Tess) went on lockdown shortly thereafter (iirc we found both their twitters pretty quick, I had both open in my browser in an unlocked state at some point before she shut it down and had not refreshed my page).
-Then later in the evening some of us noticed that Tess had shut it down.
-I remembered that they had tweeted what I suspected was replies as their timelines hadn't gotten additions but the number of tweets had gone up, something I noticed (and apparently I was not alone) when making a different post earlier.
-I checked Libby's account and found two replies to protected accounts, as I was drafting a post about it someone else found the same tweets and also posted iirc. My post suggested that one "did not appear to care" on the basis of the less than symmetrical "shut it down" approach, but I was speculating.
-Within 10 minutes of those posts pointing out that one had shut it down and the other had not, Libby locked her account down.

At some point both of them nuked their linkedins, I'm less clear on the timeline for that in particular.

Perfect Blue is one of my favorite animes, so I do know a little trivia about it.

Darren Aronofsky actually bought the US rights to Perfect Blue as soon as Requiem For A Dream took off, because he was so enthralled with the movie. He actually tried adapting it for US markets, but the 'pop idol' culture of Japan is so vastly different from the US, that he just couldn't make it and do the film justice. So he piecemeals the cool scenes and writes something more understandable for US audiences...and that's how you get Black Swan.

I guess the point I'm getting at is that anyone can weeb out over something, SJWs included. It's just a matter of time before we see a live action Sailor Moon adaptation with Lena Dunham at the helm.

If gross Lena Dunham were to be involved in a American Adaptation of Sailor Moon, it would be in a three-way tie war against Toonmakers Sailor Moon and the infamous DIC Sailor Moon Dub that’s already a huuge joke in most circles of the weebs, with the only Bowlderize Dub in America surpassing the censorship of DIC being the now defunct 4Kids.

One Piece by 4Kids, enough said.

Nelvana's Cardcaptors already beat 4kids One Piece. At least the basic premise was intact rather than changing a shojo into a Pokemon clone.

I remember watching Cardcaptors as a kid and always wanted to go back and watch it. After hearing it's not actually a Pokemon clone, I think I'll pass.

We're going to beg for the Saban Sailor Moon failed series should that ever happen.

Nelvana's Cardcaptors is better than 4KIDS' One Piece, you're thinking of what Kids' WB did with it. Kids' WB tried to turn a shoujo into a shounen by skipping around episodes and only showing those that had Li in them because "we're a boys-centric block!", although Sakura becoming a tomboy honestly wasn't a completely terrible choice. Canada got the whole series just fine on Teletoon, and it still maintained its shoujo roots in spite of the soundtrack change making it sound more epic and peril-inducing, and the fact they had to change up the script a bit to hide the romance elements not just with the gays and teachers romancing their students but also between the kids. Sakura's crush on Yukito (Julian) was kept, as was Meilin being clingy to Li, and Sakura and Li's romance only bloomed by the end of the dub. The sequel movie that brought proper closure to their relationship was handled by someone else anyway, so the script's the closest to the original.

I'll take Nelvana's Cardcaptors over 4KIDS' One piece any day, and also the voices are much easier on the ears than the Animax dub.
