Imagine calling a Canadian all-female team "basement dwelling neckbeard incels Trumpbros from Kentucky" for having a sexy variant cover:

Novelist, comic book writer, and a guest contributor at Bounding Into Comics Blake Northcott found herself in the midst of a controversy over the cover of her upcoming graphic novel with Scott Lobdell titled “Everglade Angels.”
The controversy began when a Twitter user by the name of Anita Cox believed that based on the cover art by Leila Leiz, which depicted a woman with a baseball bat and showing off some healthy cleavage, that the book had been created by “neckbeard INCELS.”
Not only did Anita Cox refer to Northcott and Leiz as “neckbeard INCELS,” but also predicted that “educated people will not buy this garbage.” Cox concluded writing, “Good luck selling this, Trump Bros! Idiot customers await!”
Northcott caught wind of the hot take and provided Anita Cox with a series of funny fact check tweets.
She first pointed out that her creative team are not “Trump bros.” She notes, “Neither myself nor my cover artist have ever voted in an American election. I’m Canadian, and the artist is Italian.”
Northcott continues noting that neither she nor her artist Leila Leiz “live in subterranean dwellings.” She also notes “neither of us have ever grown a beard – neck or otherwise.” However, Northcott does find some humor writing, “I’ve tried to grow one several times. The results have been rather disappointing.”
Blake then provides photos of both herself and Leila Leiz noting they are both beardless and above ground!
Finally, Blake ended her reply by eviscerating Anita Cox. She plugged her graphic novel’s website Everglade Angels, and then instructed Cox’s “4 followers to check it out.” She then added a P.S. instructing her on how to spell Kentucky noting that she’s “an educated person, you should know that.” Finally, Northcott stated, “the 90s and tits are both rad.”
I cannot agree more, especially as a massive fan of Alice in Chains.
It seemed that the lesson Blake was kind enough to give to Anita was a bit too much since over the weekend the troll retreated back and placed their Twitter under the protected mode, limiting what can be seen by those who aren’t the “four followers” she has.
Blake spoke to Bored Panda about the situation.
“I’m used to dealing with trolls but not as often as you’d think. Comic book fans are usually pretty cool and laid back. I don’t like to respond to people like this because it encourages others to jump on board and start a flame war, but this one was just too funny to pass up. Plus it was a total softball, no pun intended. I saw the chance to smash it out of the park so I swung. Glad I made a couple of people laugh in the process!”
Blake went on to provide some information about Everglade Angels:
“The story is about a girls softball team that takes a shortcut through the Florida Everglades, and veer off the path towards a night they’ll never forget – drinking, dancing – one last hurrah before college starts and they go their separate ways. When they stumble into a trap set by a murderous cult, the stage is set for a night of blood-soaked carnage – but the cult has never dealt with victims who are ready to fight back… while the girls might not have home-field advantage, they have a game-changing surprise of their own!”
The graphic novel is currently being crowdfunded on KickStarter. As of this writing, it has raised $13,457 from 367 backers. It’s aiming to raise $15,232.
