"I don't think Republicans haven't been particularly effective, meanwhile, a undermining Mueller's credibility. So maybe the big winner here is really Mueller."

I mean this isn't gonna change anyone's minds really, but I don't think he looked good on the stand at all. This journalist even accidentally admits that before saying the opposite. There definitely were some good gotchas too like the whole "obstruction guidance" conflicting statement debacle and Jordan's questioning. Everyone already knew about them, but they still make good sound bytes.
I think 'haven't' was a typo and should be 'have.' Because the next sentence she says Mueller's credibility is still intact.

So I think she meant to say 'I don't think Republicans have been particularly effective, meanwhile, at undermining Mueller's credibility'. Which is completely absurd and delusional.

FiveThirtyEight really should just stick to statistics.

This is a common error among stupid people: They think that stout denial of the obvious is a strong tactic. It is not. It is weak. And the more they sell themselves on their own bullshit, the greater the enthusiasm with which they step onto the next rake.

In fact, that's pretty much exactly how we got here. The jeering certainty on the left that Mueller would spell the end of Trump kept feeding on itself, and its mindless perpetuators felt like they'd stepped off a curb when it didn't happen that way. But did they learn anything from this? No.

In a way, they're almost admitting that this type of Big Lie has been their favored tactic for decades. Why else would they keep trying it? But it's a lot easier to spend credibility than to bank it, and these prodigals have been on a spending spree, especially since 2016. Time to pay the bill, liars.

The Babylon Bee is the best satire site out there today. Prove me wrong.

Given that Mueller said that Trump can be charged after he's out of office, are they going to switch off the impeachment plan and wait to try and nail him after he gets out?

A couple of places are running with that:

Only problem is waiting till Trump's out means waiting for at least a year, and I don't think they have the patience for that. Oh yeah, and their candidates for 2020 are terrible; good luck with that election.

And good luck with opening the can of worms that is "prosecute your predecessor." I'm sure none of them has anything that can be used against them by the next person to displace them.

Remember when they were all losing their fucking minds over Trump saying he would have the DOJ look into Hillary Clinton's crimes, and saying "It doesn't matter if she's guilty, it's still prosecuting your political opponents!"?

I guess they don't.

No bad tactics, only bad targets.

Can anybody specifically name exactly what Trump did that was obstruction? Did he refuse to answer questions? Burn evidence? Threaten people? Given that they can't even prove a crime occurred, what specifically can they charge him for?

I know, I know, one must be able to prove a negative to be innocent now, but really.

Even Mueller can't. A Republican asked him directly if his investigation was actually obstructed or impeded in any way. He said no.

So they're basically saying they want to prosecute Trump for maybe wanting to obstruct the investigation but not actually doing it. They're talking literal thought crime level stuff here.

I will say I think the Dems and their loyal minions are most likely to huff and puff over this for a few days and then memory hole it and move on to something else. The radio news today seemed to really want to avoid talking about it... they obviously had to talk about it some because they'd hyped it up so much leading up to this, but instead of just streaming it live like they do when they think something's going to go well for them, they were focusing on puff pieces and foreign stories, just doing occasional little interludes about the Mueller testimony and giving obviously carefully selected sound bites trying to make it look better for the Dems but they weren't succeeding very well. If I had to guess, they'll probably shift to talking vaguely about "the Russia investigation" in the future and try to act like Mueller himself doesn't exist.

So why is it only illegal once he’s out of office? Because that sounds like bullshit.

tl;dr The President in office is basically legally immune from a lot of things so that they can run the country instead being in court defending themselves. Once out of office, they are legally speaking a normal citizen like everyone else.

Christ, imagine if he did have to go to court every time they wanted to try and pin something on him.

It's a kangaroo court with kangaroo charges. The People's Court declared Trump guilty the moment he won the election.
