I must keep reiterating they burned a lot of goodwill among the RWBY fanbase. The RT general fanbase doesn't share the same venue as their flagship show. So those numbers considerably low in comparison to the people they get every year that doesn't follow them strictly for RWBY. It's true, Gen: lock wasn't RWBY level big, but it would be foolish to say it is a failure. It got enough buzz to earn a spot for Toonami despite being a web series. And not to mention their deals with Hasbro, DC, and the recently announced collaboration with Netmarble weren't affected by this.

The best we can hope is to know how much they know about the investigation, and the suit forcing them to restructure from inside the house. But any possibility of them going out of business is a long shot.

I think DC will release them digitally before committing to print copies.

It won't be the final nail in the coffin. But it will kill their reputation as an independent studio doing a labor of love.

And who knows what will be dragged out during a lawsuit. If the Glassdoor claims were true, Rooster Teeth was segregated into a bunch of cliques in an uneasy truce. Now you might have favorite people getting cut or transferred, pissing people off. You have disgruntled employees and management because of the overtime issue.

So any lawsuit might drag all the dirty laundry out in the open.

Financially wise, Rooster Teeth would survive. Personality and culturally it sounds like it is going to implode.

I imagine her being as rabid as Man Jaw Montello when she gets to be Vic's age and the looks and attention from men (or thirsty nerds at cons) have long vanished.

Yeah, that is a huge sign that actual subscription numbers are cratering, and they are papering it over by trying to get more revenue from whatever dedicated pool of whales they have remaining. This is what is known as “the Marvel Comics Way” of shady accounting. Whenever you see a price increase like that that is greater than ~20% assume things in the back office are going to shit.

RT just doesn't have enough content, let alone good content, to warrant that sort of price. Netflix at least has the excuse of having an absolute shit ton of content on it so it's worth the money. They also break up the payment method into monthly increments so it's not such a blow to your wallet. RT, on the other hand, has like four semi-watchable shows of varying quality. Nobody wants to pay $120 just to watch a handful of "meh" shows.

It makes me wonder what's going on to make them hike up their prices so much. Is it the Vic situation? Them hemorrhaging viewers? The fact that they got multiple multi-million dollar actors to do voices for a show that like eight people watched? Them finally trying to pay their animators decent wages? As @RodgerDodger said, it's usually a desperate way to keep your revenue numbers from cratering following a sudden departure of subscribers. It's pretty much a Hail Mary strategy though. It might be related to Vic, but I think the situation with him is more an aggravating factor than the primary reason for their fans leaving.
