Patriot act was very bipartisan. Neocons and Democrats very much agree on extending government authority.
Which is why I think a third party needs to come into play. Both of the traditional parties have gotten away with much of their shit because they were the only real players in U.S. politics after the American Civil War and since then nothing has really challenge or put in check of the power they wield.

In the case of Donald Trump, the American establishment hated him because he wasn't the traditional candidate when he first ran for president back in 2016. They ran their stupid Russia conspiracy theory almost every day throughout his presidency in the hopes that he would end his campaign then, in which later they wanted him to step down from public office, and now they want to impeach him. Seeing Donald Trump getting elected was for the first time that their power was being challenged and those in power want to keep their power and not give it up.

Today it's Donald Trump being the thing that has challenged the power of the American establishment and tomorrow we could even see a third party could step into the world of U.S politics and truly change the political landscape of the United States in the near future and shit.

I'd rather the US not become like the UK.

Can I get a TLDR?

The DCCC is the arm of the DNC apparatus that deals with congressional campaigns - they are the congressional warchest & strategic reserve. The white woman in charge has gotten in trouble because they too white and (((white))) at the top levels, so some aides seppuku'd.

The DCCC came out earlier this year and said "Anyone who works with someone primarying against a sitting D congress critter is blacklisted from DNC work for three years"; this was to prevent another AOC fiasco, and caused several challengers to drop out of primary races to incumbent D reps.

I've been digging into world history lately, and there is this marked trend of the elites to squabble with each other over privileges and their rights to free money from the non-elites, but always find common ground when it comes to exploiting & eroding/degrading freedoms the non-elites.

Increased freedoms for the common folk almost always indicate a strong government able to rule without consent from the elites*.

Something to think about.

*Which often isn't a selfless act, as an emboldened and independent citizenry is less likely to tolerate abuse from their local leaders & elites, meaning its harder for a baron to start playing fuckfuck games and trying to build their own power base.

Who says anything about having the U.S. become like the UK? It doesn't have to be like that. For me personally, I want the United States to be more like that of Switzerland because they're like the United States but with less stupid politicians.
Switzerland just agreed to abide by EU weapon restriction laws. And They're not even a member of the EU.

To quote Nick : How embarrassing.

@School of Fish You know. I've never quite understood why people haven't pushed for a 3rd or even 4th party at least when it comes to local and perhaps even state elections.

On another note I think the real big problem with politics in general is that we've allowed the federal government to usurp and exercise too many powers it was never meant to have. I bring this up because the way I see it, if we could transfer most of the power the federal government took back either to the states or the public at large (or even grant them such powers with an actual amendment), then that would leave only so much variety when it comes to party platforms or put another different political priorities at the national level. The way I see it, having more powers relegated to the states is like having additional political parties since most states will clearly have different interests/priorities than others which is how it should be. Not this, hey let's just dump everything on the federal government to do and write them a blank check to do it which is the arrangement we currently have.

I'm not going to pretend that Switzerland is perfect (no country is). But when it comes to stuff like Internet privacy, banking, and how they spend much of their money on infrastructure they really do it right. Now because they haven't been involved in a major war in like forever, they've been able to have a lot of nice shit like really fast Internet, protecting the privacy of Internet users, and be able to have a very stable economy.

Again, Switzerland is not the most perfect country in the world but there's a reason why they have been a very stable nation for so long.

True enough. Maybe I'll post a deep thoughts thread on my thoughts regarding America's problems in detail. Fun idea in the least.

I tend to not vote 3rd party because they have no fucking chance 9/10 times and in my locals, there are occasional times where my vote actually matters. Also most 3rd parties are run by embarrassing specimens who can be loosely called human.

Interestingly the Dems and their race-baiting great purging lunacy are managing to make me want to just vote either R or 3rd party all the way now.

If Ron Paul couldn't have much success then nobody has a chance.

The new GOP has kept the best qualities of conservatism and taken on best qualities of liberalism.

The Dems however have the redeeming qualities of neither and the worst qualities of both.

The 2020 Dems are out kissing Al Sharpton's ring again. Man, Trump really knows how to make these idiots dance. Let's all take a moment to be thankful that Trump uses his powers for good, not evil.

"We still aren't making headway against Trump, what do we do? FIRE ALL THE WHITE WOMEN!"

The DNC clutches their pouches of herbs and doctor's masks ever tighter as the plague they cannot even comprehend, much less effectively fight, claims more and more of them....

Trump should denounce Satan next so that they all have to publicly support Beelzebub during the debates.

"Trump's latest comments show he has no interest in the plight of Infernal-Americans or any other undocumented soul fleeing damnation"

So... the 10th amendment?

Switzerland is also tiny compared to the USA and last I checked, pretty restrictive on its immigration. A homogenous population does tend to be stable. (Might even be socially conservative in some policies but I haven't checked in details.)

Always remember the iron law: there are always trade offs.

What works great in one situation may never successfully scale up to a larger one.

People forget, in the context of the United States "American" is a nationality, but, not any specific ethnicity. Whereas saying "Swiss" or "German" or "French" immediately conjures up the likely image of 99% of the populace, and people forget that one-size-fits-all solutions have a better chance of working on the later than the former and that's before you figure in the fact that in America, some states are BIGGER than Switzerland, Germany or France.......

I can't for the life of me figure out why the DNC thinks going further Left and into ID Pol is a winning strategy.
