Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I honestly feel like for all of their greed, Disney right now has incompetent management that don’t know what they’re doing (not understanding the brands they buy in a hostile manner with the exception of Marvel, all of their original properties tanking, etc).
Well, Lucas kind of handicapped them from the beginning. Kennedy was his decision. I think Disney, if given the oppurtunity, would have chose a different executive structure for Lucasfilm. They wouldn't have gutted it, but they would have brought their own select people while promoting from within...

Whether that would have been better or worse, who knows? We won't really know till after 2021, and even then it will take some time to unfuck the leadership configuration at Lucasfilm...

Kennedy would probably have worked better as a general studio head. The problem is Lucasfilm is so specific. You NEED someone who understands Star Wars, to execute corporate vision or goals.

Just look at the cover of 'Alphabet Squadron': the color choices, the name, the character design. Thats contorting Star Wars to casual female sensibilites. Ironically, you probably end up alienating loyal female fans.

Star Wars, at its foundation, is something created for 7-11 year old boys. So lead female characters have to be appealing to that core. If you alienate them? It's not Star Wars anymore, it's something else....

There is nothing wrong with diversity or telling female centric stories(Star Wars can handle that with ease). Star Wars can be for everyone, but you can't alienate that core(its rooted in its identity). But, she has manage to warp the sensibilites of Star Wars, instead of working within its frame.

I don't think she was very interested in Star Wars. I think she was more interested in padding her resume, so she can contend for CEO of Disney.

However, Kennedy manage to torpedo any chance of that. So, she is either going to retire or 'demoted upward' to 20th Century Fox...

I imagine that a lot of female fans are into Star Wars specifically since it isn't a braindead "loveydovey Princess fantasy", and that they enjoy it for being different and catering to a different kind of taste than what they usually are subjected to.

And here they are now, being subjugated to horrible characters like Holdo and Rose, boring non-characters like Rey or whatever Leia turned into... and these horrible tropes that are supposed to cater to them (or rather, they are expected to enjoy them, otherwise they are self-hating gender-traitors, I guess).

Fucking ew

I miss the covers they had in the 90s

Some pics from one of the upcoming shitty Marvel comics that are part of the "Journey to IX" multimedia project (that's supposed to tie in to the movie) have been released or leaked in Europe. Strangely, Ackbar is said to be featured prominently in them...

So did they fucking retcon Ackbar's death? A bit too late to salvage that burning bridge Disney after what Tim Rose said. Although this may be that shitty "Ackbar's nephew" OC I mentioned many pages back. This feels like that awful Simpsons episode about Skinner not being Skinner, where Lisa's cat dies so a new one that's exactly the same shows up and they pretend the original never died (what with Ackbar being a family name and all rather than a first name, they could actually do this...). On the bright side, the comics seem to confirm without a shadow of a doubt that the leaks about Rose no longer being an important character are true, and nu-fans seem a little pissed. Also Finn is apparently doing nothing important... He just got sent off on a random comedic sidequest where he fights OT and EU aliens to gather up allies and recruits.

One thing that bugs me a little about this comic is that the creature Rey is fighting is a Zakkeg from KOTOR... Is Disney really trying to tie-in that KOTOR film project with IX? I honestly feel sorry that such a nice monster has to be in this. Even more so if there's no reboot at the end and KOTOR has to share its future with the Disney trilogy...

Also that lego trooper that I posted before is supposedly a "Jumptrooper" named after the jetback-wearing ones from the original Battlefront games. Is JJ or whoever in the story group is in charge of this just gonna copypaste names from better troopers on to their OCs to inspire some kind of hollow nostalgia?

On a further and odd note, Abeloth is trending online a bit and on Wookieepedo for some reason.

I love pre-Phantom Menace Star Wars stuff from the 90s, there's a special mystique to it.
I was always pretty fond of the Bib Fortuna and B'omarr monks story myself.

It's not enough!!!!!

P.S. Finished up Samurai Jack - 1000% better Last Jedi than Last Jedi. Even has some of that subversion Ruin likes so well. Except good.

I'm also noticing several people bringing up time travel in E9 after Red Letter Media's video on it. I'm a little hurt that we don't get recognized as bringing it up first.

I don't think the images of Leia are awful. I rather like them.

Did Greg Land trace the Luke images?
