Jesus Christ Mitch, you didn't have to go all fucking Scarface on the thing in two nights, but I sure appreciate the effort.

The killer is this:

They're just burying their heads in the sand at this point. It's all NRA REEEEE and Immigration REEEE, studiously ignoring Cocaine Mitch filling the courts.

That blurb right there is the best Trump 2020 ad I can think of for a lot of people I know.

It really is. Gay as it will probably sound, I was legitimately scared of Hillary getting her hands on the courts in 2016.

If you're trying to cross a goddamned desert with children, and you didn't bring basic hygiene items- I think you're guilty of child endangerment. We're sympathizing over children- which is fine- but I personally wish people would realize that the people dragging them along are just using them as leverage.

Much like that Muslim that pitched his baby into the fucking ocean so he could get free veneers in Europe or something.
I doubt prisoners get to keep things they brought with them.

I doubt people can pack enough stuff for both a trek and imprisonment.

Gee, maybe they should stay in their own fucking countries where their toothbrushes and soap are, then.
Their imprisonment is just. Failing to treat them according to standards of prisoner treatment is not.

Would you support not providing these things to dudes locked up in county jail?

Stop supporting Democrat abuse as a political leverage tactic.

If they're coming from places like Venezuela then they probably don't even have that. I have a lot of friends in Venezuela and two of them have to drive around the country for one or two hours just to find a store that still has toothpaste and toilet paper. Most of the stores in the country are less well-stocked than your average Fallout 3 supermarket, and some of the better-stocked ones are literally guarded by the Venezuelan army to prevent looting what little is there. I mean for fuck's sake it's so bad that Maduro literally rewards soldiers with toilet paper.

I'm about as pro-deportation as you're likely to find and I'm hesitant to believe that Immigration Services are denying them basic amenities in the first place, but if there's even a scrap of truth to it then I'd be upset, to say the least. It is possible to be upset about something like this and still actively detest the Democratic party's contribution to this and not hate or blame Donald Trump in the process. I realize that we live in an era of constant, political extremes but "Give them toilet paper" and "I like Donald Trump" are not mutually exclusive thoughts.

This, absolutely. It's easy to fall victim to the collectivist attitudes that the Left has been cultivating in us for generations and blame "America" or "the government" or even "the Democrats" for shortfalls; but real justice--and we should all be interested in real justice--demands two things:

1. That the wrongs be rectified as quickly and completely as is practicable; and
2. Those responsible be called to account for it.

For point 1, we must provide the necessaries or send them back immediately--ideally the latter, but do the former until the latter can be done; and shore up the border so as to prevent more victims of these wrongs.

For point 2, making public the names of the specific Democrats who moved to block funding and enforcement, and publicly shaming all those who contributed to making our border into what amounts to an "attractive nuisance", luring in the hapless and uninformed to terrible fates.

This is my opinion, mind, but I find it compelling.

I have an even more controversial opinion on whether, if we must spend this money on people fleeing poverty, we could better spend it by funding their revolutions to retake their homes...but that's another subject entirely.

Dudes locked up in the county jail are citizens. I'm perfectly okay with treating illegals as nonuniformed hostiles attempting to invade the country if they don't come in through a recognized port of call declaring their intent to seek amnesty from the start. Which means we could afford to give a lot more of them "basic amenities" if we were properly gunning down the majority of them on sight.

Well, there's a line between wanting the border secure and being an asshole, and you landed on the wrong side of it. People like you play right into the hands of Democrats who pretend there's no difference.

They're going to think that anyway, so I don't see any point to pretending otherwise. I have no interest in pretending like I give a shit about any of these peoples' lives, or their safety and security, when a significant majority of them come into this country openly despising it and planning to make it a worse place for people that are here legally and rightfully. I don't care if their countries are shit, I don't care if they're suffering, they're not our citizens and they're not our problem. You can say we have a responsibility to them all you want, but the only reason we supposedly have that responsibility is that they illegally entered our country with what can be considered hostile intent. Considering that the majority can leave any time they want to as long as they agree to go back to their home country, I don't see that we have any obligation to provide for their comfort and wellness, we should in fact just be sending most of them back whether they want to go or not. They should be automatically disqualified from any potential for asylum or amnesty by entering the country without coming through an official entrance and that should be the end of it, the fact that we let them invade and then still treat them like they have any other rights here is the only reason the conditions are crowded and bad, so it's their own fucking fault.

Call me an asshole and negrate me all you want, it won't change the fact that they deserve absolutely nothing from us if they can't at the bare minimum trek themselves to an official border crossing and say they want amnesty there. If we only allowed people in who did that, there'd be half as many detention centers and they'd all be sparsely populated.

That's already a thing, actually. If you're caught hopping the border illegally and you don't have a valid reason to claim asylum you're actually permanently blacklisted from ever coming to the country again, even if you try to do it legally the next time.

What nobody wants to admit is that sometimes being the asshole can be the better for someone in the long run.

I don't know if I told this story in the Venezuela megathread, but once I was at a FedEx getting quotes on shipping a package. I was waiting behind a couple who were asking how much to ship toiletries to Venezuela. Was tempted to tell them it might be cheaper to try and get their family or friends OUT of Venezuela.

Yeah, and what happens when they do it illegally a second time? A third? Oh look, they did it a fourth time and then they accidentally killed someone.

I'm starting to think we need to put big markings on these people's faces and declare them outlaw, so that they can either go back home, or be legally killed by anyone with a gun and an itch to scratch.

But that's the thing, we're letting them claim asylum after they get caught and then we have to go through the long process of determining if they have a valid reason. If it was just an automatic "Nope" because you were caught crossing illegally, automatic deportation no wait, it wouldn't be a problem. If you believe you legitimately qualify for asylum and are legitimately seeking it, there's absolutely no reason to trek your ass across the desert and not just walk down the sidewalk to the checkpoint and say "I'd like asylum please."

Therefore, anyone crossing the border elsewhere is either A) a hostile/terrorist or B) a criminal. If they instantly surrender, great, immediately stick them on a plane back to wherever they claim their country is and turn them over to the authorities there (whether they want to take them or not). If they run or get argumentative, engage hostile and blam blam blam.

This, but unironically.

All I'm trying to say is that perhaps becoming the physical manifestation of Krog'Zoth the Nig-Stomping Lib-Wrecker may not actually be the best way to avoid living up to the mischaracterizations of the Left.

Why? Do you think my personal indulgent in a little edgelordiness over an issue that annoys me is going to be the tipping point in someone's decision on how to view the left-right divide? After 2207 pages of seeing that the vast majority of these people are already unhinged and think that anyone slightly to the right of Stalin is a Nazi? In this thread, of all places, you're going to put your nose up and say that we need to be better lest the Left start looking down on us?

Get over it. It's a troll forum. We may indulge in a bit of Deep Thinking here and there but at the end of the day we're here to make fun of people and say shitty stuff because it amuses us. If you have to play the Good Little Conservative even here, and wring your hands over possibly having some crossover with a stereotype, or being seen as any less than One Of The Good Ones, then you really need to get chemically altered more often because having an ass that tight can't be good for you, especially when you've got a stick jammed so far up there.
