Jesus christ steph it really isn't that girly to know how to at least see by hand. Men and women both do it in case their clothes have a tear in them. You'll even see survival guides talking about how it is important to know how to mend. Even punks/goths do DIY stuff and that even means *gasp* knowing their way with needle and thread!!!!
