My theory has always been a botched kidnapping. The murderer was trying to abduct JonBenét, but something went horribly wrong and she was dead before they could leave the house. She was hit with the blunt object first. The strangling's just what killed her. It's very likely that everything aside from the blunt object strike was staged to make it look like a kidnapping gone wrong. Including the strangulation itself, which is one of the more fucked-up parts of the case.

Ransom notes also don't tend to be handwritten, because that leaves a lot more evidence than any other method that can be used to make a note.

Ransom notes also don't tend to ask for the exact amount of money that the ransomee recently received from a Christmas bonus.

Ransom notes also don't tend to be composed in the abductee's home, using the abductee's family stationary. They're written beforehand, kept short and to the point. You'd think a "foreign faction" would know those things.

If this were the only damning bit of info against the Ramsays, that'd be one thing. But every major detail makes them look suspicious.

A conspiracy just a secret plan or agreement between people for an unlawful or harmful purpose. There are plenty of times when conspiracies do happen, and they're valid to bring up if the evidence leads to a conspiracy being the case. For this matter, the Ramseys conspired to fake the kidnapping of their daughter to cover up for their son killing her; and they were coddled by the criminal justice system, because they were rich and white.
