So taking DSP at his word (ha!) after how he had to lie to "protect the family", what's different now as opposed to several months ago? What suddenly changed that DSP can reveal Jasper now that the family is safe?

I know the real answer is nothing, but his "I needed to lie to protect the family" makes no sense because it's not like the detractors are gone now.

Haven't read all pages of this thread yet, but here's what I think: DSP probably knew he was going to get a thousand dollar tip. He knew the goal had already been reached before the marathon even started, so that's why he was so confident he could pull off this "I'm not saying what the reward is going to be"-shit. Every donation, cheer and sub next to that was extra income.

I've made a montage of this whole thing, with him "having a feeling" someone would come by and help him out:

(I've also posted the video in the main thread, as not everyone reads the other threads in the DSP sub forum)

Phil is a poor mans Hilter, i say that in the sense of the brain washing he does to his unsuspecting fanbase. (snip)

I wouldn't even call it brainwashing. Dark has been changing his language from Power Asshole to Underdog to Oppressed Victim. He's speaking directly to the ♿ who feel like people look down on them or that life's dealt them a bad hand. It's why he won't admit to seeking or won't actually seek pro bono legal/financial/health advice.

Only when enough ♿ get fed up being cannon fodder in Dark's Internet Holy War will things change.

It's his obsession with this victim mentality and just logically stupid paranoia/insecurity. He got a cat....not a unicorn. Dudes literally defined by his critics. Never seen anything like it.

So to my understanding, the second tier was getting the cat on stream after the reveal, but since Jeff swooped in and gave him another 1k, he didn't need to talk in depth because it was another 1k and he just gave it to him

No, the cat was already on stream before Jeff even arrived. Phil basically made that 2nd tier crap up at the spot and at the end of the stream pretended like it never existed.

So him making money makes what he is doing smart?
Look dude wants to make money fine, but his audience is also giving PHIL money the guy he detests. Thats not a valid excuse just because he is making money makes it valid for what he is doing and continues to excuse his donators behavior for them also troll tipping phil and he wont say nothing because they also line his pockets.
Tevin's "trolls" give a tiny fraction of what Phil makes. Jeff just gave him $1000 tonight. It would take months of $1 tips to equal one of Phil's idiot paypigs. And we're all sitting here making fun of Phil, or just marveling that he continues to exist, so getting mad at Tevin for getting paid to do it would be pretty hypocritical.

Also, I've been watching idiots and brain-damaged shut-ins give Phil tens of thousands of dollars a year for several years now. I just watched the man get $2000 for revealing he's owned a cat for fucking months. Troll tips are dumb, but at this point a $1 tip doesn't even register on my stupidity radar.

Now that I've had some sleep, I can clearly think about what's really going on here.

This whole event was planned from beginning to end. The announcements, the large cash drops, the reveal, all of it was planned. This "fundraiser" wasn't about money, but it was really about feeding his ego and scoring a win against the "detractors". Nothing more.

In the months before this event, he had a series of failed events, including a few failed fundraisers and a dwindling subscriber base. His viewership has been going down for several months since his surprise marriage. Phil's ego needed a boost.

Enter the few supporters that Phil has. I suspect that the reason why Phil put the sub goal back up is that he had his supporters contact him and tell him that they'd be willing to provide the subs, and Phil planned out this whole thing where the subs would be gifted at the last moment, making it look like he swiped victory from the jaws of defeat.

The same thing happened with this marathon. Supporters wanted to give him a large amount of money behind the scenes. Phil then made this whole event up. He had the cat, and he had the pledges. He had this idea to do this marathon with this rather high goal. For most of the event, it'd look like Phil wasn't going to make it. Then, before the event ended, Phil sends the signal to his supporters to bring in their money, including PlanetJeff. No matter what happened in the first 7 hours, he was going to win.

This event wasn't about getting money. That was going to come no matter what. This was about his own ego and getting a win over his detractors. Nothing more or less.

Phil's being a manipulator again, and he's manipulating us and others not involved. He wants to be seen as a winner, and this whole event was going to set him up.

I fully expect him to deny this and strawman this. He's going to laugh at this and as well he should. He succeeded at setting himself as the winner. Although not without burning goodwill from the few supporters who weren't in on this little scam. He is, after all, Phil "Burning Bridges" Burnell.

The part that gets me is that he's going to get away with it once again without anyone in a position of authority over him bringing him to account. He's going to laugh all the way to the bank and no one in Youtube or Twitch is going to care. His viewership may drop a bit more now, but he's not going to care. He's got his win and fed his ego.

I honestly think we give Phil too much credit. I believe he knew whales would step in for the marathon...but to say this was all some strategic attempt to get a win versus "detractors" makes my head hurt.

I haven't seen anyone bring this up yet here. Jasper is declawed and this usually happens at the 3-6 month old mark the same time cats get spayed or neutered. The Pig Roach's REAL mascot looked to be about a year old and Phil stated they had Jasper for about a year now. Plus it is extremely rare to find a declawed kitten in a shelter these days because Veterinarians are aware how awful the practice of declawing is, no one would have a kitten declawed just for fun the owner would have to ask for it before the appointment. I am pressing X to doubt and at this point you would have to show me proof that Phil isn't lying.

Going on the assumption he got the cat from a shelter, I've looked at prices from the nearest shelter near him (Auburn Valley Humane Society). Jasper looks fairly young (1-2 years?), here are two price ranges (age dependent) that it may have costed him for the adoption--he spent somewhere around $95-$145:
Edit: Snort said Jasper was 2 years old on stream.

I actually partly believe this... not quite to this extent.
I think some supporters were contacting him about large sums to ask Phil how he would like them because of all the back and forth with the Streamlabs leaderboards and anonymity lately. Most didn't care about being anonymous. Phil told them that, if they wanted to make it public, he would hold a marathon so that they could make a big splash and meet a goal. They decided/Phil asked them to show up near the end, likely so that he could raise as much additional money as possible.

Part of this was to dab on the haters, and he exposed that at the end of the stream when he said the detractors were whining and that they couldn't stand his success. No part of this was objectively for his fans. It was a weak reveal that doesn't benefit them, it was staged to bilk as much money as possible, and it was clearly prearranged.

I know Phil has historically been hilariously incompetent, but I really believe this one was completely planned. It goes back to what I said before; Phil is now plotting because he has told himself that it's okay to lie and manipulate his audience because he is a victim. Maybe it's Kat's influence, I don't know. And I do think he was angry that the wedding was not better-received by his audience. This was his first major event since then, and it was the first success in a long time, but under very suspicious circumstances.

I don't know, between the taxes, the wedding and the cat, I think Phil is graduating to an actual conman. It's sloppy and transparent, but he is planning. He's also not spastic and desperate like he used to be - he's extremely condescending and arrogant constantly, and as Phil himself said the other day, he's entitled to be that way. Because right now, he sees himself as successful, and he's successful because he's actually duping people.

Something I don't understand but hey maybe people can clarify - During the cat reveal people sent a ton of messages saying "Yeah the detractors have egg on their face!" and "This is a victory against detractors!" and "Show those detractors we'll get them into hiding" and "I bet a specific restreamer detractor is raging right now!" and all these other ones similar to that. And that "specific restreamer" was actually laughing his ass off because around 5 guys paid like $200 - 250 just each to see a cat. I don't get it. It's a cat. Why is showing off your cat a victory against the detractors? Do detractors now automatically hate cats? Are they allergic to cats? Or do they just really want a cat and can't get one so now they're mad jealous? Or is it more he met the 1k goal? Cause he gets like 1k every begging stream and it makes no difference to his life. In fact he gets 1k every week really, 2 years ago or so he'd have been making 3k a week or something so it's nothing new. It's pennies to him. Plus he said it was all 100% going to bills and he gets to keep none of it, if you believe what he says.

For the indoctrinated fans the victory against detractors was likely Phil hitting his goal. Lots of us get annoyed with Phil's successful begging antics and some are quite vocal about it. Fanboys cream themselves when Phil is successful.

Personally I'm more interested in what his fans with the ability to logically think about what happened on Sunday will do about being lied to, again, by the "realest motherfucker on the Internet". There's been some ripples of discontent but we won't know until the end of the week (maybe month) of the possible negative implications of Phil's questionable moral decisions.

So Phil basically admitted what he did on TKOH website. Like i said...he had an idea of what his big boys were gonna give and used the "reveal" as a way to get 300-400 more in tips alone from the regular peasants....the icing the cake was additional bits and subs. That's the damn con. I'm actually really impressed.

I dunno why people get mad. He's always been making bank and this is just one of many thousands he gets in a month. It's nothing different. He's still gonna spend it on silly little useless trinkets and overpriced meals then the rest will be eaten up by debt and he'll be back where he is in a few days. Its routine at this point. And its like, you don't want him to be successful? I do, because then he stays around longer and I can laugh at him for longer. I don't want the ride to end. Plus, I mean its pretty funny that people were forking out huge money, including someone just straight up paying 1k, just for him to go "I have a cat." So as a detractor, why be furious at that? Because he got money that'll be gone in a few days?

The ride isn't going to end regardless. Do you actually think that Phil is going to stop streaming and begging for handouts on a daily basis? The poor fucker would have a mental breakdown if he had to face reality and try to get a job he's qualified for (and I mean ACTUALLY qualified for, not the delusional qualifications that Phil thinks he has) and interact with people that wouldn't take any of his toxic shit.

For me, at least, it's the fact that he's scamming people out of their money. He's a manipulator, and he's manipulating people out of their money. And the part that really gets me is that he gets away with it. No one's investigating him. No one's bringing him to account. We can see the lies and the manipulation, but no one in power is doing anything about this guy.

It's not necessarily the scam, but it's him getting away with it with little repercussions.
