Surrogacy was a system implemented for women that could not bear children on their own because of medical reasons, so preventing surrogate mothers to help these women is in fact hurting women.

A quick research would also show that surrogate mothers do these things out of desire to help childless couples. The money reason is more rare and monetary compensation is not even a guaranteed thing throughout. It's just a choice some women make to help the world. The keyword here is choice.

Feminism was first started as a movement to give women more freedom. This is trying to dictate what women should and shouldn't do, and a lot of what these people are saying is just honestly that: trying to dictate the world around. There's a clear difference at play here.

The comments there really highlight how BPD their approach to gender is. Gender roles are either totally arbitrary and oppressive (if you're a woman) or so overwhelmingly pervasive that it's literally impossible to raise a man who's not a rapist. Not only does she constantly hear about men doing horrible things, she’s also constantly seeing men act scarily (like road rage).

Realistically, I cannot afford to drop some of the hypervigilance, because it keeps me safe and aware of my surroundings. My concern is that it will get even worse as I age and I won’t be able to live a fulfilling life because men are everywhere and even at the edge of 40 I find myself not wanting to even run errands because I don’t want to be near them.


Another poster (who has already missed local events because of her totally real and valid fear of men) backs her up and thanks her for bringing up this important issue. Fortunately she has found a solution of sorts... Moving to a different country where men are less violent.
