Disney’s The Great Mouse Detective to get live-action remake

Actually it's a rumor. Some higher up at Disney came out on twitter and said they're not doing THIS one.

I suppose that's a relief, but I sure wouldn't mind a TV series based on the original cartoon with 2D animation. When Disney was doing all of that "Direct to Video sequel" and TV series adaptations of their movies back in the 90's, I think it a bit of a loss that Great Mouse Detective never jumped on that train. I suppose "Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers" fulfilled Disney series' rodent quota for the era...

Cats Don't Dance was amazing, I don't even know how I became aware of it as a kid but boy did I love it.
It was the one that just kinda fell through the cracks since Warner's technically didn't make it themselves (it was Turner's). Not putting a lot of effort into promoting it was due to them thinking their own animated feature I forgot the name to would be big (but didn't, nobody likes a blind hero).

They should remake the Rescuers. And do two follow ups, one obviously being its sequel Down Under.

But in between that, they should adapt Oliver and Company.

See, O&C originally began as a follow up to the Rescuers with the little girl Penny moving to New York. It's not clear what the story was, but eventually they decided to adapt Oliver Twist and turned Penny into Jenny.

I guess Penny somehow gets involved with Sykes the Loan Shark (who came from the Dickens Story, regardless) and it's up to Bernard and Bianca to rescue her instead of Oliver, Dodger and Co.

All of this remake shit is not only blatantly just from greed, which I can forgive to some extent - it is a business after all. Yet they are also creatively bankrupt, disrespectful to the source material, completely unnecessary and just plain fucking boring. We already have a good version of this movie, complete with CGI, what the hell are you going to do to make this anything but pointless?

Stop doing this. Make original content, you hacks. At least give us some good sequels, maybe? Is that a compromise you can live with? Just make us Zootopia 2: Stripper Tiger Boogaloo and we won't have to burn down your houses. Thats fair, wouldn't you say?

Queen Elizabeth is in her 90s, so they probably want to churn this out before Charles becomes King.
