Megathread Non-binary genders / Enbies - When Male and Female Aren't Special Enough

What? Queer used to mean strange or weird before it was coopted by the gays. It's why people used to call them that, because they were queer to people.
Fair enough it was a word for strange before it was a slur. I'll give you that, you're right.

But TIL that gaybashers using queer as a gay slur counts as gays "coopting" it. That part is exceptional, friend. I'm sorry but it is.

It was "co-opted" by gays in the same way that coon was "co-opted" by blacks.
Coopted was probably the wrong word to use. But it's the same thing that happened with nigger. You take the bad word and make it a term of endearment for your contemporaries.

No that's literally what coopted means but it's usually used for examples where the term was thefted from some other group that was currently using it. In this case you would usually say "reclaimed". I'm saying it's exceptional to say that gays coopted it. Bigots coopted it to use as a slur. Then some gays (not all this is a controversial thing because of the whole "bigot slur" thing) reclaimed it. As in they tried to take it back and use it for themselves to take the slur away. Whether or not this works or is a good thing is the controversial part.

You seemed to be ignoring the middle part where bigots use the term while smashing skulls. It didn't go Word for Strange > Gays. It went Word for Strange > Slur against Gays > Gays. That's why I said that part of your comment was exceptional. It's possible this was unintentional on your part and if so, fair enough but that's why people challenged you.

Yeah, some groups are okay with it, but that's only very recently, like within the past few years, and those groups are definitely in the minority. Go up to your average joe in Montana and call him a queer, even if he is a faggot, and you'll get your ass kicked. Even if everyone was okay with it, doesn't change that its origins in the LGBT is as a slur. Even before it was associated with The Gays, it had negative connotations. It means strange in a bad way. If someone feels weird, that can mean anything. Someone feels queer and ain't gay? Probably food poisoning, maybe heat stroke, get them to a doctor.

Alternatively, her good friends the "man-hating" radfems were trying to get her subscribe to an idiotic label exactly because there's no walk to walk, as an alternative to self-mutilation, hoping she'd grow out of "reee I'm not a gurl".
You'd think claiming to be "nb" would mean not having to transition but no, they occasionally get hrt too. I met one girl who identified as nonbinary. Despite obviously being a normal (if dumpy-looking) lesbian who is very open about not wanting to be seen as a lowly man, she ended up shooting herself up with testosterone while calling it "gender affirmation." It's been years and she now looks like a very creepy, bearded uncle if you gave him giant titties and a woman's voice. She's more miserable than ever now and has difficulty getting a job even at Family Dollar due to her looks.

Turns out the nb phase actually isn't that harmless because troons and half-troons still put transitioning on a pedestal, calling whoever shoots themselves with enough hormones "brave and stunning." Her close circle of half-troons actually did call her brave and encouraged this. It was probably the most praise she had ever gotten in her entire life.

I don't think I've heard the hard-r nigger be used affectionately between blacks. Does it matter that they mutated the word before making it a term of endearment?

Christ almighty that is depressing. She might have been better off shooting herself up with lead instead.

I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure they used the hard r up until the mid to late 70's. But I don't care about ebonics so I don't care to fact check it.
Admittedly I just sperged out hearing the wrong origin of queer and put my foot in my mouth.
Although I thought they used to call themselves queer (also in the 70's/80's) and switched to gay later. I believed that gay used to be the bad one and queer was the good one and it was somehow revered like nergro and black. I guess being 'happy' is better than being strange but I personally prefer the bundle of sticks. It's the most offensive but I find it to be the funniest word that ended up referring to gay people due to it's meaning.

Anyway I'm done talking about this, it's really off-topic.

Anyways, to get this thread back on track, here's some selfies from the Enby tag! There were a lot, and to be honest, it's very close to the FTM tag, so I just snagged the ones that made me feel ill.

I've noticed these kinds of people have this, for lack of a better word, "look" to all of them.

Absolutely horrifying.

First off, I'd like to say something off-topic.
I would like to apologize for some of my posts yesterday, as well as for being a douche to @SchlauFuchs. It was completely uncalled for, and I admittedly did get a bit out of hand. I don't usually behave like this, and I'm not sure what possessed me to do so. So, I apologize.
With that out of the way, I'd like to address...

Dear god. The second-to-last one has fucking horse teeth. Hideous.

Anyway, I simply wanted to provide an alternative perspective on the subject because Tumblr is a fringe group of immature teens that is so loud that people assume their type of insanity is shared by all transgender people. I personally believe strongly in the freedom of an individual to express themselves within the basic common-sense limits of morality (are you a rapist, a murderer, a pedophile, abusive? No? You're good.) and if that means preferring to be addressed as gender neutral I don't give a flying fuck because it doesn't affect me or my life, and so what if it's not natural or biological? Humans have been giving the middle finger to nature since we discovered agriculture and medicine. We biologically weren't meant to fly, we don't have wings, and we definitely don't belong in space, but we said "fuck you, biology" and built airplanes and rockets. A lot of us wouldn't be around if it weren't for unnatural biological interventions like prosthetic hearts and synthetic medication because in the wild those illnesses would have quickly expelled us from the gene pool. I expected to get flak for defending non-binary people on this forum anyway because it's become in my mind unfairly associated with SJW clownery.

Well, listen. If it was true that these people are just minding their own business and not bothering anybody you might have a point. But this is not the case. These people scream and cry in real life too which is why we have these asinine laws protecting their right to force others to buy into their delusions. They effect everything from census statistics to women's sports and are quite happy to attempt to fuck you up irl if you disagree with them whether that's through lawsuits or simply weaponizing outrage culture to try and get you fired or lose your friends.

And morally? It's fucking wrong to go around forcing people to vocalize things they fundamentally do not believe. It may seem like nbd to just use someone's asinine pronouns if it makes them happy but you might be surprised by how viscerally people hate that shit when it is presented to them.

You also absolutely cannot compare medical breakthroughs intended to cure disease to what amounts to transhumanist body modification. A lung transplant is not a boob job and it's ridiculous to equate the two. Humans are sexually dimorphic and we know this on a deep subconscious level. These people are playing games with other people's fundamental base sexuality and they can't be surprised when others think they're massive assholes for it.
