I never bought that diva line. It seemed pretty obvious to me that he was getting pissed because he was on a tight contracted schedule and the con staff and management was screwing him by mal/mis/nonfeasance. Razing hell about unfulfilled contract stipulations is the way the game is played. Nice to have some confirmation.

I feel bad for @EriMin having to dive on the angry guest grenade for her shitty team. But that was the job.
She's been a good sport about it. I mean if I volunteered to work at a con to attend to a guest and they were getting mad because they weren't getting their contract dues, it would suck being at the receiving end of the ire, but that's the kind of thing I expected when I agreed to volunteer. It's not always about sitting around and chatting up VA or the like. I come to work and when I work I make sure I do a good job because I'm volunteering and respect the fact that those I'm attending to are here to do business. Just because there's a bad experience and she's not a fan in particular of the guy she's attended, doesn't mean that she'd put him to the torch like the rest of the crazies that are after him. Their mistake was expecting her to rally with them and instead all they did was piss her off by dragging her into a mess she wanted no part of.

Being a guest relations person is being their advocate. Being proactive and straightening the curves is the job. That kind of stuff is hard work. Having useless volunteer coworkers sabotage that so they can feel they have a bit of power and influence would be a million times more insulting and infuriating that getting reamed by the guest/customer/etc for things not going right.

I hope she set the A/V fedora volly's creeper van on fire.

I think you're more than paying it back with the Con Stories on Twitter. These are great.

I'm not very familiar with this scene, but my limited knowledge of people and events so far really makes Con Story #3 tickle my brain. Am I perhaps reading into it more than I should be?

I'm almost certain that this is a Vic story-- regardless, that is absolutely disgusting (and demonstrably false since we're well aware of how Vic's Sunday Fundays work (you can come if you want to, duh), why they're a thing (he's giving some church time to people missing church on Sunday, you fedora tipper), and how they started (Caitlin Glass was the one who started this stuff, funny enough)). It would make the diva complaints the product of a feedback loop that's ultimately Vic being reasonably upset with immature punks that are going out of their way to not do their job.

And, well, if it's not a Vic story, still just as disgusting.

Jennifer Lynn Hunt is on record saying that she's messed up dates, and on top of that, her stories of Vic harassing Iijima have left much to be desired (for example: after Tekko '07, they attended multiple other cons together, including ACen '08, which she also staffed for-- Lynn doesn't have a stalking story for ACen '08 despite maintaining after she submitted her affidavit, and after it hit public record that Vic stalked Iijima in both '07 and '10, leading someone to make the rational conclusion that... somehow, Vic's yellow fever only kicked in during Tekko... probably because of gay frog water).

lets just ignore the sheer amount of stories with the sheer amount of bullshit in them

He struggled to put his brain diarrhea into words because it wasn't anything value that he had to say in making this unfunny spoof.

Anyways,
  • Kara's affidavit has been dead since it was found that absolutely nothing happened during Shadocon except her, Vic, and Mary Reese palling around.
    • For that same reason, Reese's affidavit is also dead.
  • Rial's allegation of Vic almost raping her (except not at freaking all because she can't even describe him doing so) was blown out by the only fact witness she named, she lied about the JP Broly VA change, and she lied about the Sentai ban.
  • Defense hasn't bothered to verify Vic's alleged employment by McConnell's high school, also meaning that they can't even demonstrate that Vic was even in the area of her alleged incident, especially since Vic's only known teaching gig thus far was in Florida (not to mention that the school was contacted at least twice only for them to confirm that he never did any work there and they have in-house talent able to do the work he was alleged to do).
  • Prager mentions being head of security for Tekko from '04 to '11 but only mentions an alleged '10 stalking incident while Lynn only mentions an alleged stalking incident in '07-- at any rate Prager wasn't head of security in '07, didn't say anything about the stalking incident he must have known about as head of security in '07, and allegedly only voted for Vic's ban from Tekko in '10 after the stalking incident in '10 (and on top of that reported that Tekko changed hands in '15 when it was actually '12). And Falba is in cahoots with these flagrant liars.
  • What the hell happened to Loftus apart from an unwanted hug she didn't even tell Vic was unwanted after the fact until this year when she instead told Ahmed instead of the person she was supposedly wronged by?
  • Specht is horribly myopic if she thinks that her feeling betrayed matters at all when her ex is fighting off allegations of being a sexual predator.
At first, I would have said that these people need to submit sworn affidavits instead of just spouting off on Twitter about their allegations, and that they'd matter more since their feet would be held to the fire for perjury then. But these people don't have any respect for the concept of commitment-- neither in their workplaces, nor in their contract making-- or the legal process, and instead decided to gum up the system with their nonsense.

Tools don't think, though.

There's no way that relationship ever works again. How could he ever trust them? It's more like Toei just gets rid of Funimation and hires someone else. Sony could even supply Aniplex to replace them if they still want to deal with Sony.

And this is the crux of the issue for FUNimation. They're a non-entity, and they know it. What's more, they've given their parent company--Sony of America--a black eye in PR over this, whether it's legitimate or not. It's like how Jeremy Hambly--a no-name YouTuber as far as everyone is concerned--gave Wizards of the Coast a PR debacle with "pedogate" and what-not, and Hasbro ended up taking flak for it as well (to the point Hasbro, who has been in dire straigts financially for a bit, is considering axing WotC along with a few other subsidiary companies). No matter how this plays out Sony is probably looking at FUNimation right now as baggage: they haven't brought in money like was expected (where-as 4Kids and the Canadian company make/made decent money for their dubs, and Dragon Ball Super: Broly is a literal statistical outlier); they haven't managed to capture audiences like previous incarnations of the dub casts--no one knows how Jamie Marchi or Monica Rial are, no one knows who Sean Shemmel is, and Chris Sabat and Vic Migogna are the only real names remembered for Dragonball going in Funimation's favor, where-as you know who Kirby Morrow is; and now FUNimation asks Sony's HR department to do an investigation into claims of sexual impropriety by one of their "larger" talent names, and the resulting PR backlash along with FUNimation trying to pin the blame on Sony for doing the work means Sony is probably pushing them to move out of Texas and to Los Angeles, in order to liquidate and figure out who in FUNimation is worth keeping and who isn't. And God help FUNimation if there's an actual DOJ or labor investigation into their hiring and employee practices and it turns out negative for them.

They simply don't have the clout Sony has with Toei. Sony executives (both America and Japan) are real friendly with Toei. They can skate through this entire thing, and it's very possible that Sony might just tell Toei, "When the contract comes up for renewal, we'll do it, cut FUNimation out of it completely." So this lawsuit has long-lasting implications for FUNimation no matter how it turns out, and the longer it goes on the worse it gets.

I had a thought, I wonder how many of them are playing double agent as well, like getting on their good side to get info to pass off to Nick and Ty, like with Nick saying if Monica were find out who his sources where she'd pretty much breakdown and cry
A hot take would be the Ginyu VA being the double agent, since his screed has lots of absolutes and doublethink, lacking too much awareness for it to be sincere.
But probably not, since a lot of the KickVic VAs are dumb. Speaking of which...

Apple Pie is a homemade alcoholic beverage popular at conventions in the South East. Its usually made with apple juice, cinnamon, and Everclear or moonshine. Its a very alcoholic drink.
Sounds like that would fuck me up. Mixed drinks tend to more than straight liquor. Then again I do not drink much so there is that.

You've a fair point. If Vic wins the lawsuit but Funi doesn't settle, Toei may well force Funimation to keep Vic on for Broly. However, I don't think Toei has the lionshare of licenses for Funimation, and Broly doesn't have much more to voice, as Super dub is ending soon-ish and there's no word on when or what the next Dragonball series will be. Compared to the dozens of other characters he voices for Funimation (one of the main characters in Bungo Stray Dogs, one of the side characters in Asterisk War, one of the primary antagonists in Twin Star Exorcist, etc) it's not much. It's surely one of his most popular/important roles, but not really his whole career - compared to them settling with a favorable contract.
It's less about the amount of licenses Funi controls and more the quality. Dragonball makes Funi a lot of money, no two ways about it. It's their cash cow.... and it's not theirs to own. It's there wholly at Toei's whim. Enough that Toei can force decisions that Sabat is completely against beyond heroing his career.

Not only that, Sony already has another anime localization company, based in L.A., that's familiar with working closely with people back in Japan. Granted, Aniplex of America hasn't done anything near as big as Dragon Ball, but they can easily be brought in to offer "assurances" to the higher-ups in Toei that their property will be well taken care of. I don't know the likelihood of it happening, but some folks at Funi have to know that option is available if necessary.

It's likely anyone not "talent" or in a low-paying job thinks their own job is safe when the 'merger' happens and they won't be kicked the the curb, so they feel confident with the current move from Texas to LA.

This is what I don't understand about people like Dorsey (Twitter) and the like. No one is making these people read this shit. They have to actively decide to read it.

Further, if you're going to to give your opinion on something that is a hot or controversial topic, you're going to get a response from people. If you're a neutral party, you'll stop after the first time as you won't really care. In fact, most people will stop shitting on you after the first time. If you continue to give your terrible takes on the situation, you're going to get shat on. This is effectively what he's doing, and then using the backlash to make another video on it for views

And on the eve of Broly, they literally nuked any chance of ever repeating it by firing the star, who was allegedly hand-picked by Toei, for no fucking reason whatsoever.

If Toei hand picked him then Im sure we can look forward to him being hand picked again with the new company Toei hires to localize.

That's what I'm hoping for. And as for DBZ there's no reason there can't be a 56th Bulma or whatever. Those two fat whores are very replaceable.
