This issue has nothing to do with Christians though I'm sure Christians would love to go running around yelling "We told you so!" at all the gays. Christians that hate gays hate them because simply being gay is an affront to god because apparently it says so in their bible. They don't have any more nuanced a take than that. It has nothing to do with family values and everything to to with religious belief. It's a sin according to the Christian god whether they're sticking their dicks in glory holes or romantically hoping for a life long partner. No one is obligated to live their lives based on someone else's god though so they can all suck it.This was known by the more sensible gays as far back as the 90's. There's a book called "when the ball drops" (or something like that) that is written as a sort of manual for how gays can become accepted (lists propaganda techniques and optics). In it the authors dedicate several pages to chiding the gay community for the strange bedfellows they've made by making their movement a safe haven for all outcasts.
At that time trannies weren't the hot issue they are today, but the authors list crossdressers and mentions how they are not necessarily gay and should not be in the same boat. He also calls out pedophiles by name and warns about how they are trying to worm their way in, much like they do with little boy's anuses.
The author didn't phrase it like that but it would've been dope if he did.
I mentioned this before but this is the reason gays and lesbians historically haven't got along. The argument is between "gay liberation" and "sexual freedom". Lesbians pushing for liberation and gay men pushing for sexual freedom. I don't think I have to explain why this difference matters. This is why the "gay rights movement" became the "gay and lesbian rights movement". Lesbians wanted to be seen as separate from gay men for many reasons.
If you're interested, there is an excellent book on gay and lesbian history entitled "Unpacking Queer Politics" by Shiela Jeffrey. I recommend this book highly it's very accurate. Mind you, Shiela Jeffrey is an awful cis lesbian terf so you won't be recommended this book by many outside of places terfs hang out and even then there doesn't seem to be many terfs that have bothered to familiarize themselves with gay history.
