Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

That will take a bit of time to dig up. It was mentioned on this very thread multiple times and I believe sources were posted. I'll take a few days to read back and check it out because just looking on google is providing nothing.

After looking a bit just now, I'm not wondering if I simply heard it here (cause seriously, I don't trust anywhere else for info) and it became 'truth' for me. Either way, i'll look into it.

Edit
Okay so it's a bit of column A, Column B, and the new guest star Column C. So there's not direct source on this. No news article, nothing... what we do have is interesting and equally credible though.

I haven't tracked them down but apparently Nick and Ty mentioned Toei being unhappy with the vic situation... but unhappy with vic. So they're the main source... but a second source popped up. Vic himself.

Here's the video I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_U4rxKCW8E&t=1s

So yeah. There we go... our sources are Vic, Nick, and Ty. Certainly, under normal circumstances, not trustworthy because they benefit... but something occurred to make this believable if not true. Ryo pulled out of Kamehacon. That part was absolutely true and it was extremely sudden and had no reason beyond he had to.

So yeah. Maybe there is no concrete source that this is true... but a lot of circumstances point to it being more truth than lie.
You forgot the part where Sabat’s studio tour went up in smoke.

Nothing. It's been hinted that Toei chose him because Rial and Sabat have both indicated they didn't want him in the role but he got it anyway. Vic also suggested that someone contacted him and told him he'd be Broly, rather than him auditioning. That's morphed into Toei hand-picking him, though it's likely more along the lines of 'Broly's VA didn't change in JP, your Broly voice hasn't retired/isn't unwilling, you're not allowed to recast him.' - meaning all the characters whose voices weren't recast in JP are likely the same.
In that case, where did Rial and Sabat show they didn't want him as Broly?

Sabat tweeted that he would have liked to try for Broly, but that it was out of his hands. Rial says in her deposition that they wanted Broly recast 'because JP Broly was recast'.

When the Broly movie was announced, Funimation (if not the VAs themselves) released a list of VAs who would be voicing characters in the movies, including Dameon Clarke voicing Paragus (this was last summer). Notably absent among those names was Vic Mignogna as Broly. I remember the speculation regarding the curious omittance on Kanzenshuu. Only a few weeks later (maybe 6-8 weeks?) was Vic confirmed as Broly.

I don't know if the guest in this story is Vic, but even if it isn't, it kind of shows how badly rumors tend to fly around the convention scene and how quickly they're picked up and repeated. Is this something that you think happens to a lot of Voice Actors, because Stan Dahlin also had a story (link) where he talked about someone making a false rape allegation against Greg Ayres, and I can't image anyone just doing that out of the blue unless they'd heard something.

I'm getting more and more sympathetic toward guests in general, honestly. The con gossip circles attack all of them, apparently. But this also explains why Vic shrugged off the kinds of rumors that chased him around. If everyone had to deal with this kind of crap in the convention scene Vic would consider it the same thing.

Hey Kiwis, can you tell me what exactly this #threadnaught thing on Twitter is about. I already know it's probably something stupid but humor me anyways if you know. If you guys don't know, then I know it is something so insignificant it's not even worth acknowledging.

It's a way for mind bendingly idiotic people to bury their constant misstatements of law, fact and other amazingly stupid things they say under a mountain of thousands of tweets full of other stupid things, so that nobody can possibly read them all. I have no idea why anyone does this, as unlike rats making giant nests full of every random bit of garbage they find, it serves absolutely no purpose at all that any sane person can comprehend.

Hey Erica,

This is probably too personal for you to answer, so I don't mind if you ignore it, but here it goes.

It must have been a little scary at first coming out against the mob like you did. I have trouble voicing miner political disagreement to some of my friends, yet you were able to vocally drop an obstacle in the path of one of the largest, momentum driven social movements (Metoo) ever.
I have a friend who simply expressed his opinions on things (not hateful at all), and our now ex friend full on Stalin'd him out of her life, cut off contact, and told everyone in our social circles that he was a nazi.

Would you say that this whole ordeal has messed with your personal life? And if so, would you be willing to drop some examples.

Thanks.

Men should not concern themselves with the ways of ants.

I will say, having experience with similar shit to this... advice for your friend: move on.

You learn very quick who was a friend and who was a friend-of-convenience, in situations like this. Especially if the person was being made a pariah for a reason that does not warrant complete and utter social obliteration.

The people that actually know/care about you will stand by you and eventually it'll be a learning opportunity to look back and figure out the tell-tale signs of people who really don't care about you, but just are sticking by because they get something out of you.

It'll help form more meaningful relationships in the future, and you'll watch as those people who melt-down on every single thing they don't like just tailspin into pathetic pits of despair.

Best thing you can do to piss off people that hate you is just succeed. Tried and true method.

Okay..now I am...99.99% sure that this is how all the he said she said bullshit started in regards to rumors about Vic. So it's as we suspected all along. Everyone accusing him of being a predator are only parroting other people who accuse him of being a predator without ever having any encounters with him or first hand experience with him. It's the classic case of "oh they said it so it must be true" and in desperation to be accepted into the hive mind and being cool by "sticking it to" people that they only HEARD were bad from other poeple who also never encountered or had a bad experience, they go out of their way to slander someone out of pure assumption that they are bad instead of having the critical thinking skills to only treat said person that way if so and so rumors about that person were true and verified by credible sources. Those that HAVE had personal encounters with Vic are either twisting the truth because that's what they THINK they remembered or they are doing the exact same thing as all the other idiots who just parrot ignorant fools who spout off hearsay. Is this the age we really live in? Are people really that fucking retarded to do this?

The behavior of the staffer is freakish and insane. It sounds like shit that Manjaw would do.

I guess completely insane people are the norm in these circles.

Vic flew into a convention in the wee hours of the morning. I was at the airport to pick him up. He was on a rant about the TSA confiscating his hairspray. He was super angry because he carries that hair spray in his carry-on ALL the time and this was the first time it had ever been confiscated. I was sleep deprived and found it monumentally hysterical.
Imagine Ed's voice raging about hair spray. It was golden.
That is so Vic that I can't even.

So do we have anyone else with an interesting con story that they'd like to share? Doesn't have to be the Pulitzer prize winning material @EriMin is giving us, heck you don't even have to had worked at the con an attendee story is just as good. I've already shared a few if mine throughout the thread, and so far this has been a riot.

I'm curious to know exactly what other convention that staffer was banned from and what "undesirable behavior" she exhibited that warranted her being banned altogether. I wouldn't be surprised if it was for the same crap she tried to pull with @EriMin
