Leaderboard, anyone notable playing in this?
Nobody of note is listed in the entirety of the entrants list. I doubt you'll find anybody noteworthy playing this since it's less a proper tourney and more a wifi bout. Which isn't particularly surprising since a proper tourney or local would require Cosmo to leave his house, and as far as I'm aware, he also has zero offline experience. In terms of this event, Cosmo is indeed top 8 in his bracket, but there appears to only be 9 other entrants in said bracket according to the event schedule. Overall, the event has 127 entrants, but only 46 participated and it has a few more days to go before it's complete.

There doesn't appear to be any entry fee whatsoever and it's hosted in Canada of all places, which doesn't matter since it's online-only, but a majority of the entrants seem to be from that area. There isn't even a prize according the event's page, save for a "kinda-maybe" $25 gift card on the Nintendo e-shop if they can scrounge up the cash, apparently. The tourney itself is so underwhelming that the first result when it's searched is Cosmos stream about it which has <75 views as of right now. I haven't a clue how people even found out this event to join it in the first place.

I'm personally still bemused by how Cosmo said he expected Smash to revitalize his life. It's entirely possible to making a living playing Smash, but there's a choice between two options in order to see that as realistically obtainable. The first option is to become a professional player, which requires offline tournament experience and practice in locals before joining a major (and picking up a sponsor along the way), which Cosmo doesn't do. The second option is become a dedicated streamer for the game. But Cosmo has the charisma of wet gravel, doesn't stream frequently enough with his endless free time, and seldom makes so much as a peep while playing. In both instances, Cosmo has no drive to improve himself or his situation, which gives the impression that he honestly expected the game to magically correct his life for him without any input on his part.

There are more than enough troons on this website that you don't need to get invested in any one of them.
Cosmo was always one of my favorites though, because he's one of the rare few example we have of an internet troon who has a whole documented history of being a relatively well liked dude before the madness took him.
With almost every other tranny on the farms, they've only come to the Internet's attention through post troon-out spazing.

For the past few days, the Break the Game account has been tweeting teasers about an upcoming announcement. And they've finally released it!

...Wait, it's just a Kickstarter? What?

Wasn't this thing nearing completion? I suppose making a movie is a huge endeavor, but to create a Kickstarter this late into production seems sort of ballsy, at least to me. Maybe there's a bigger picture going on behind the scenes.

Anyway, some of these reward tiers are sort of funny.

-Attend an online screening with the director and The Queen herself, Narcissa, for $50.
-30 minute phone session with their crowdfunding coach for $101.
-Signed copy of some unrelated book about speedrunning for $150.
-Fight with Narcissa Wright in... Smash Ultimate. For $200. (Totally worth it, don't you think?)
-Get a signed copy of Ocarina of Time, presumably by Narcissa, for $500.
-Become Associate Producer for $1000.

All in all, not the worst Kickstarter I've seen. The Master Sword earrings are cute, some of the posters are... nicely drawn, at least. Some of the reward tiers are pretty ridiculous, though. I have no doubt it will be successful, due in no small part to massive shilling and/or virtue signaling, but maybe I'll be proven wrong.

(I wonder if Kiwifarms or /r/Samandtolki will be featured or mentioned in the film.)

Narcissa's streaming peak (as Cosmo) was also before the full extent of monetisation on streams had kicked in. A top streamer back then would make 1/10th of what they would now due to increased sponsorships, subs, text to speech, bounties, merch, etc.

WTF is up with that trailer? Around 30 seconds in, Cosmo is obviously fucked up and trying to sound deep while rambling on about games being systems. Every clip they show of him makes it clear that there is something off about this dude and he's severely fucked in the head. I have a feeling this doc might end up being way more interesting than it seemed at first.

And what do they need 50 grand for? Jesus. I wonder how much of that is going to our boy.

Definitely agree and it's puzzling that the team behind this project chose to use those clips... makes you think whether they're desperate because they have nothing better, or if they're tranny lunatics like Cosmo who think this is 100% ok and you must accept it because they have girldicks so shut up you transhphobe nazi, or if they're playing some sort of 6D chess with this.

And what do they need 50 grand for?
Honestly, making a documentary is expensive, even if it's amateur hour. Between equipment, editing, pre and post production, travel expenses, a crew of at least a dozen people direct and indirectly, all the time it takes to get this from start to finish, the fee for whoever is their "kickstarter coach" or whatever, and more, so much more.... video is never cheap.

That being said, 50 grand is something I'd expect from a professional crew, not a bunch of nobodies making a film about a forgotten internet tranny no one cares about and only a very small community of fans and detractors will be interested in watching. They're either pulling a con, optimistic about how easy it's going to be to get $50k or they really want to make it a big production and give it all their got... which is troubling, considering how doubtful the KS material itself is.

Is there a name for something that is built entirely on virtue signalling and smoke and mirrors, but at its core is basically nothing? Sort of like a shady company when it's revealed all the bookkeeping never leads to actual legitimate business. Maybe I'm just thinking of a scam. That's how I feel about whatever this Kickstarter is. It's based around nothing of substance.

If the director really wanted to do a documentary about speedrunners, there are plenty more who are much more engaging and charismatic than Cosmo. I sense that the film will delve heavily on the trans and "cyberbullying" aspects more than the speedrunning, since Cosmo's record on Ocarina has long been shattered (I think even before the documentary started filming) and he doesn't even run standard categories in BotW, choosing to make his own shitty rules so he can claim a world record no one cares about but him.

More than that, who is this for, really? Cosmo himself has lost his audience from way back, with his streams on Twitch doing small numbers post-troonism, so that's even more of a clue as to how much this film would lean on the trans angle because they're probably the only ones left who might give a shit about this documentary.

As an aside, the KS page mentioning Cosmo making $80k a year before trooning out gives me pause about what other embellishments the filmmakers put into what is supposedly a documentary, though to be fair, they're not the only documentary filmmakers guilty of fudging data to support whatever viewpoint they're trying to push with their films.

They're either pulling a con, optimistic about how easy it's going to be to get $50k or they really want to make it a big production and give it all their got... which is troubling, considering how doubtful the KS material itself is.

I'm leaning towards optimistic, more than just the $50k they're hoping for. Seems like they're optimistic that this documentary will make waves, since they mentioned entering it in festivals.

Vaporware?

Having seen Cosmo from start to finish, it's so pathetic and disgusting... I discovered speedrunning, twitch, and streaming through Cosmo. Before he blew up, before he even used a face cam... The streams averaged 25-60 viewers. Streaming hadn't blown up yet in general.
I and many others had lost respect for Cosmo long before there was word of transition.. To give some perspective, I'm sure it's been posted, but Cosmo always painted his nails, and initially he used a controller cam which showed this... I think somewhere along the line he started doing random nail painting streams... This was long before Adrean. Just a little backdrop... my point is that at no point did I judge or look down on Cosmo for his oddities. But Cosmo changed over time.... becoming less down to earth and more diva.... like Null said on his stream on Narcissa, he is an insecure narcissist. "I'm a dreamer" "I'm an innovator" "I'm" It's like no bro you're sick.... it's okay you know.. people have mental breakdowns... shit does happen... sometimes very dramatically in the public's eye. But he is objectively mentally ill; and the truth is he's a stubborn brat who has warped his mind into a frame of rejecting any criticism and trusting himself solely.... ALONG WITH ignoring ANY conventional, formal, logical, reasonable, unbiased analysis of his life... It's this self destructive, self-sabotaging, growth stunted bullshit that people get sucked into and don't then give themselves the proper distance from the world to get out.
It's all narrative.... all just stories we tell ourselves... you think we live to go on some journey of sexual discovery our whole lives? No. You think your fucking identity is so fucking important??? NO. It's not. It's fucking pliable. If you want to become a tranny fuck over time you can. If you want to be a mass murderer over time you can. If you want to be a reflection in a sea of mirrors you can... but if you're too entitled to step outside of that and see the bigger picture or blatantly ignore it in order to continue to be sick and cancerous you really shouldn't hinder the world with your bullshit..... You know what's funny to me? YOU NEVER, hear of a person making a mistake in transitioning... like it could never happen... like we're suppose to believe that in the history of trans people no one has ever just been confused or mentally ill. And why can't we point this out? Because it's of poor taste? Give. Me. A. Fucking. Break. If we don't start living in reality we're soon to lose it.

The reason we never hear about transitioning being a mistake is because it happens freakishly often and it goes against the popular narrative. Fact of the matter is, you can't actually become a woman if you were born a man or vice versa, and because of the current climate, people only realise that after they've mutilated their body to the point of no return. Some manage to live with it anyway, but the vast majorities hate the monstrosities they've become, which is probably even further from the ideal they were dreaming about, and end up either offing themselves or "detransitioning", which can work somewhat depending on how far you went with it.

If you look for stories of detransitioning you can find thousands, they're just suppressed by the CURRENT YEAR narrative.
