Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Hello Kiwis! Just dropped by to say 'hi'! Also wanted to so thank you for all the advice, comments, and general entertainment! Somehow 400~ people are following me on Twitter. I realize it's not over 9,000 or anything but considering I had 6 followers before this all started I'm surprised and amused at the increase. I posted some small bonus content on top of my usual Con Story post for today. I'm also putting out feelers to see if anyone still wants to talk to me. I know I'm a bit old news but I thought it would be fun to show up on someone's YT stream to say 'hi' and maybe talk in person about all this stuff.

Anyways, have a great day!

Wish I had a question, but it all seems pretty cut and dry. You handled it like a pro, and so have a bunch of others that got mudballed into the KickVic crusade.

Welcome to the farms, and hope the positive attention brings you luck in-future. Don't let the screeching harpies get ya down.

Oh yeah, and make sure to maintain a healthy skepticism about random people online. I wouldn't put it past these vindictive pricks to dox or harass you, and pass it off as "fact-checking." (Conveniently after the fact of getting completely BTFO'd with their own from-the-hip muckraking.)

Well, at the risk of stirring some optimism, here is a case where the TCPA was denied but overturned on appeal because the person filing the TCPA had actual evidence. As we know, there is no evidence here. Just hearsay

HEY GUYS. GUESS WHAT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT ACEN 2012?

YOU GET ONE GUESS.

DA journal one
DA journal two (with hour long panel video I don't know how to archive)
Article one
Article two

These cover a FMA panel, a Vic solo panel, a Vic press panel, and possibly a Q&A panel. Not one of them, nor any general journal I found, mentioned anything going wrong with Vic's panels, nor any pranks. He hugs one of the people right after his panel. Todd intersects with multiple stories, no story of pranking.

Also bonus interview with Marchi by the same person. In case there's anything good from it. 1 2

ACEN 2012 is the convention they must be referencing. It didn't happen at ACEN 2012. Because it didn't happen.

Okay, guys. What if all of those Todd messages are faked?

Look: "Todd" states that 'that was 7 years ago' in his stilted message that conveniently backed up a stupid story about Vic making a pregnant woman cry, but that would HAVE to have been written in 2018, which would have made it '6' years ago. But it would be 7 to some idiot trying to do the math in 2019 for his fake post.

AND. "Todd" says that 'three big conventions just canceled him' in a DM conveniently missing a date, one of them being 'Anime Matsuri', which never happened. Another error. So there's two weird errors, stilted dialog written like it's meant to be seen, and the date mistake. Did ANY of these DMs actually happen?

I for one think it would be cool if you, or you + Stan came on Nick's show one night. A stream about cons from the perspective of con runners who aren't liars would be pretty cool. So far the only 'con staff' on stream was Shane, and Shane is an idiot who admitted to horrible things in the process of flexing his supposed con experience.

I second this. Trying to volunteer at an upcoming con that Vic is attending and I'm curious as to how everything works. It would be nice to get a pleasant person's perspective on it.

Hey I just noticed the P alliteration there. Pleasant person's perspective. I like how that sounds. Try saying it out loud. It sounds pleasant.

Alright hit me with the autism reacts.

It would be cool to go on Rekieta's show but he streams while I'm at work so the timeslot would have to be a Saturday or Sunday in the US. Also, I totally feel like I'm not interesting enough to be on with Rekieta. He's got a certain charisma that I lack, lol.
Dont you live in Japan or something? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyways, I wouldn't worry about not bringing the charisma. Nick runs the show and keeps it moving. You just impart knowledge and experience and it'll be interesting. Even if you just rehash the Twitter con stories and more if you have any. I've read them but it would be cool to hear you actually speak about them (of course not expecting you to divulge more than what you already have).

Now, a stream all about the workings of cons with you and Stan Dahlin and whomever else would be very, very cool. But let's not get our hopes up just yet.

Regarding the Todd DMs....I wonder if he is aware that they are spreading his name through the muck and using those pictures to implicate him in something he didn't do. Remember when this whole shit storm began, these insane people had no problem making fake evidence. I really wish Todd is told about this so he can come out and set the record straight. I think he deserves to know that Pridewhore is once again trying to drag him into something he was never a part of.
Man is she thirsty as fuck for him that she can't seem to leave the poor dude alone.

OK, I find the whole "Vic yelled at a pregnanat woman on staff, so I yelled at a different staffer to make things right" story hilarious, but after reading all these questions about if it happened or not I have to ask. Let's assume it is true, I could believe X guest griped at a staffer over something Y guest did and Y guest griped at another staffer for reasons, but irrespective of that, WHY would any convention put a pregnant woman in charge of guest relations? I also understand that the window for pregnancy means it was almost certainly not the plan when the guests were booked, but that seems like something the convention should adjust before the con to compensate for. If the fact that she was pregnant is such a big deal, then she should never have been in that situation in the first place.

I don't think the Todd messages are fake. He's never said they were.

When they came out forever ago (January), I basically assumed that he was putting on an act for Adam re Vic. People do that on instinct. It was never for public consumption.

This is an industry, like so many others, where you either go along with the hivemind, or face the unfortunate consequences of the mob. He was asked a question, and gave the answer he thought the other person wanted to hear.

You can damn him for cowardice, but there's an underlying reality that needs to be understood. This is distinguishable from joining the mob and making public statements damming Vic.

I honestly didn't (and still wouldn't) put much stock in them.

Now if something else came out, I'd certainly reassess that view.

Is he claiming these are from Jessie Pridemore? I am having a hard time reading his english.
"I know Todd is not a Vic fan so this could have been moment to step up and publicly address things he’s seen. But he did not. Instead he went after Jessie. Easy target: already being attacked online, has screenshots of private conversations, it happened a while ago. "

The last sentence is confusing me. Who is the easy target who has screenshots of private conversations. Jessie or Todd.

Odd, it appears to have come as a counter reaction to this:

The facebook link he references is disabled or can not be shown.

HAH, thank you way back machine:

In regards to the photo showing Todd's statement on May 19th; the twitter post is dated 31. Jan at 14:52. Which means these messages were from 2018, since no YEAR is listed in the message, IF REAL. Big IF. Which it would have if it was from a previous year.

But if these screenshots were taken in 2019, then.....it should say a year there along with may 19th. Are these fake?
Messenger, which appears to be what is used, will date things as follow for things that are old af.

Example: 28th August. 2018, time: 05:30 pm

I have no belief that Adam Sheehan, screenshots everything willy-nilly about Vic stuff in MAY 2018 for no reason at all. Unless ya' know, civil conspiracy.

Well then, no energy shall be spent looking into the 2011 cons then. These are fake.
Anyone confront Sheehan yet about his possibly fake images?

Meaning 7 years from May 2018 would be May 2011. Which means, Todd can't count years or Mr Sheehan can't google. Date format is very off. I know there are apps and sites that can make fairly convincing fakes. I am a little....surprised he decided to crop out the photos on the side of the two chatting. Making it just seem a little confusing. Not happy with your profile pic Sheehan, or are these not yours?

Also the picture of Todd, I was trying to find it on his facebook photoalbum, because well, if you want it to be a profile picture or messenger picture it has to be uploaded there right? Or insta? I scrolled through insta through 2016 and can't see nothing, and facebook was much the same. Where is that photo from?

Am I remembering how to use social media wrong?

Also, when was the last time the blue was so blue and the grey was this grey. It was 2018 wasn't it. 2019 is more grey blue and the grey a little more subtle.
Why are a couple of the images different shades of chat-blue? What did the 2017 version look like?

Ok so. Uh.... I am not very knowledgable about Social media and how messenger is supposed to look like. But two of these are NOT that well-known messenger blue. That being the two images here, middle and right. The one to the left looks to be a different shade of blue.....entirely. I am not sure what to make of this. (wtf is that weird blue shade atop of middle and left picture though, it could be a picture of a PC-screen, couldn't it? That weird glare happens sometimes... weird screenshotting tehcnique though......)

I tried going back to find different versions of our lovely messenger blue and none really matched.
The most similar looking one was this one from 2015? But the edges doesn't match.

View attachment 901053 View attachment 901064

It looks more similar to twitters colours but they don't have the prfile picture on top like that do they?
Wait, looks like they did, least in 2016, he probably cut out the dots on the side along with the profile pictures on the sides. There are some newer versions of twitter DMs that appear similar. But I have not found a picture of Twitter DMS with a round circular icon atop there from any recent time. Anyone twitter savvy able to share their knowledge.

View attachment 901065 View attachment 901066This is from 2018. No picture on top. Time under the bubbles.
Twitter DM stuff 2017, shows time below the bubbles. No picture on top.

Yeah, no, I can't make head or tails of it right now. The colours appear closer to twitters, but it isn't a match for the colours, but all 3 of them have the same format which is similar to facebooks. But not facebook colours....either.

Do we have a social media guru?
Not sure (don't have twitter and rarely use FB) but it feels more like Iphone messaging then anything else. You have the bubble icon, name and arrow (under the pic) there and Iphone used to have blue chat bubbles (may still have the option but mine is green now).
It also allows for you to fake messaged as you control the contact information and picture and it also explains to date/time stamp (or lack of) as you don't get a date/time stamp if your message is closely linked, it requires a period of time between each message.
I also believe at one point Iphones had a white top (where the icon was) and you could see the blue bubbles through that, but could be wrong tbh.
Could honestly be wrong but that's what I'm getting from looking at those "DMs"

Edit: Actually checked more mssages on my Iphone and you can get blue or green depending on the person you message (don't know why) however you get two different color of blues. One is deep blue similar to the right one, and a lighter blue if their older (middle/right).

irrespective of that, WHY would any convention put a pregnant woman in charge of guest relations?
That is like putting a paraplegic in the emergency row on a airplane. Maybe as a human shield? They were hoping that forcing any angry guests to deal with a pregnant woman would temper the reaction?

Because she had the qualifications to do the job, the probably volunteered, and there might have never been anyone else to do the role.

Pick 1.

Yeah, I can see any or all of those, but either she was late term in which case you should really have someone else in the role if only because if she goes into labor you're boned. Or she was early term, in which case "it's essentially irrelevant aside from as a sympathy ploy". (which I expect is the case here) Like: I was working the customer service desk and this dude yelled at me, but my mom just died last week. How the hell am I supposed to know that and regardless, how is it relevant to what's going on here.

For everyone asking about Todd's prank on Vic at ACEN, I know the story. They had a thing called Tribute Wars where they were making "tribute" videos about each other and putting them on youtube. The goal was to make fun of each other, and the videos got more and more elaborate. Vic ended up making basically a LOTR parody called Todd of the Rings, and he had a premiere at ACEN. During the credits, Todd got a staffer to play a promo for his own next tribute video as a joke, but the staffer played it before Vic's video was over and Vic got upset.

Here's video of the premiere:

Here's Todd telling the story:

not sure this is something to get mad over.
Eh. If you plan out an elaborate prank and want it to go smoothly, I'd be pretty miffed I spent a lot of time, maybe money and other resources only for it to all go south at the last minute. Not like hella mad unless it cost a whole bunch but pretty annoyed. So if Vic got annoyed, okay that's understandable. But if they are saying he got full blown mad and screaming like an abusive prick, that I have a harder time believing.
