Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

EDIT: Quick way to confirm the story (it's fake) is to look up stories about ACEN 2012. Does anyone mention Todd pranking Vic's panel? I bet they don't. They would if he did. (But remember the story requires Vic to STORM OUT OF HIS PANEL IN RAGE AND NOT COME BACK)

After every single one of these wild tales from these liars that has turned up on video has proven either they didn't happen at all or the exact opposite happened, I wouldn't believe any of these lunatics if they claimed Vic went to a con wearing gay looking pants.

I can see Vic getting angry over that. That looks like it took quite a few weeks (months?) to make.

But, one, Vic's getting angry for at least a discernible reason. I mean, sure, he and Todd weer trying to lolpwn each other he could have rolled with it, but it the production did take a lot of time and effort, only for it to get trainwrecked by a counter prank.

And, two, what does this have to do with Vic molesting people? They can't nail Vic on touching girls, so now they're trying to make him sound like a diva?

Also, question: Did you do the makeup?
You're right, it does have nothing to do with their accusations that he's a pedophile. While they haven't given up on that narrative, you have to remember that the whole of KV are extremely petty and they know they are going to lose. So they are doing a scorched earth tactic on him. If they can't win the court case to convince everyone that he's a rapist/pedophile/sexual assaulter, they are going to slander him in every conceivable way and ruin his career and reputation beyond repair. They are making it so that he'll never be able to work or have any sort of business or professional life. They are trying to destroy him, literally, ruin his life and they are willing to spin anything they can get their hands on to make Vic look like the worst person in the world.

Vic said he has absolutely no recollection of this whatsoever.

EDIT: After reading thru other posts for more context and sharing that with Vic, he does remember this incident:

Vic and Todd had something called a "Tribute War" at one point. They each made a series of videos kind of punking each other. In classic pseudo-sibling rivalry fashion (which has always been their dynamic as long as I've known them), each video got more elaborate in order to one-up each other. The fans LOVED this and they both played it up for them often.

The panel in question was the premier of "Todd of the Rings." As you can see from the video, making it was no small task! Much was shot on location in NZ at Hobbiton, many professionals were involved, Vic spent months working on the editing, music and special effects, etc. The DP had even flown from Vermont to be there for this. And yes, that's Michele Specht as Gimli. The whole panel was FOR this premiere of this thing he had worked so hard on and was very proud of.

The video plays, the crowd (around 3000 people) was cheering, and as soon as the credits start to roll, the screen goes black and you can hear Todd laughing and saying something like, "You think you've won, but this isn't over! LOL" Vic's recollection is that Todd had arranged with the AV staff for this to happen ahead of time.

Vic was pissed that Todd had hijacked his panel and premiere, and he was also pissed that the staff had allowed it to happen. He said that he was so angry that he had to leave before he minecrafted Todd on the spot. He doesn't remember yelling at staff, but he probably did. He does NOT remember making anyone cry over it. I would have made several people cry myself, but that's just me.
I can understand this. Jessie and Todd making it out as though Vic freaked out over simple shit but he spent months on a project and got it wasted for a cheap laugh. And worse it was infront of thousands of people. Man he must've hella embarrassed. So yeah he had a right to pop off

I could have a keyboard with nothing but Xes on it and roll my head on it at the speed of light for a billion years without expressing one trillionth of how much I doubt that.
But as your face approaches lightpseed, the pressure needed to press the Xs approaches infinity. Thus you'll never have enough doubt.

I'll watch it in full later, but I skimmed through it and it looks pretty nice.

Vic as a midget :story:

I did not do the makeup. This video predates my friendship with Vic and Todd. But yeah, you're spot on about the rest IMO. It seems that the details of "why" are always left out of the VicIsaDivaWhoYelledAtStaff stories. I mean, he can be a hot head for sure, but not without reason. YMMV on whether the reason is justified

Half the problem is that we now live in a world filled with 'The meek.' Any thickness of skin has been indoctrinated out of both men and women, especially when it comes to the work environment.

My daughter works in a pretty high pressure business and she regularly tells me stories about women sobbing in the bathroom for half an hour and men sitting sullenly at their desks. And it isn't after some major ass reaming or similar. It happens whenever voices get raised or the job requires bulling your way through a problem.

So I can imagine that in a 'current year' creative/entertainment environment, which almost by definition attracts people that think and act emotionally, any justification someone may have for getting pissed will be met with the most offense/drama/waterworks and sheer victimhood possible.

It's all they got. One of my favorite questions in Monica's depo was (paraphrasing) "you do know somebody can be a jerk but that doesn't make them a predator?" It summed up and destroyed KickVic's entire strategy of painting Vic as an asshole so that must also mean he's a pedo/rapist/sexual assaulter etc.

All this waiting is killing me. What's the latest the TCPAs are supposed to have a verdict? End of September? Also is there any hearing before that?
September 6 or so for the hearing, right? Presumably the judge will have already read the pleadings, will check to see if there are any oral arguments or clarifications needed, then rule on the motions.

We're all looking forward to it. But it's not too far away. At least the drama train is still rolling?

EDIT: derpy lawspeak

EDIT: disregard that i suck cocks. See @Nontransferable's post.

I think Ty said he might file something on the 30th, so keep an eye out for it. Unless he Boomers it.

I believe all parties have until September 3rd. We should see new filings on or before that day.

Edit: Strike that I was wrong. See @Nontransferable 's post.

Their rule 11 agreement states that Ty will file his responses to the TCPA and any objections/motions to strike on or before August 30th. The hearing is on September 6th and then the judge has up to 30 days to render a verdict.
Thanks, I missed that. Happily, I doubt Ty will take all 30 days wait until the last minute to file. (Unless he's banking on the judge not reading it in time and failing to rule?)

EDIT: batting zero today. Wewlad.

Todd's response video was hilarious. The whole series, really.
For what it's worth I think the production value alone on these is impressive. Not a fan of LOTR but hearing that Vic went to the effort he did makes this kiwi have all the feels.

Was there a reason he only ever made two con visits (2006 and 2010) to NZ or was it merely a case of cost/invites/other obligations? Either way, much love to pass on.

Vic's Lord of the Rings parody completely undermines the claim that conventions didn't want to show his Fullmetal Fantasy fan film because it was "unlicensed". Lance Heiskell was shocked that Aniplex didn't care.

How long do these civil lawsuits usually take? It must have been lasting nearly a whole year for the parties to even come up with a decision.

So all this recent drama of vic being a diva and yelling at some pregger is because todd talked the AMV staff into fucking with his panel where he was showing a LOTR parody he worked on for a couple of months? This is the reach they are going to try to smear Vic? If anything this show staffers fucking with Vic being a recuring theme and explain the Diva behaviour ive been hearing about. Seriously, maybe if cons took their job seriously or would get volunteers that werent asshat like manjawllo maybe Vic wouldnt have to yell at staff.

The lawsuit is actually moving at high speed. For exemple the Waid vs Meyer case which is similar has been going for like a year and half and they are still arguing about jurisdiction.
