Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Anthony Daniels is sad that this will be his last movie but claims fans will love the ending.
This is sad indeed seeing how's he's been with the franchise since the very beginning.

However, with as bad as it's become under Disney, perhaps Sir Anthony has realized it's best to leave on his own terms before things get worse or he stops being as excited/enthusiastic about Star Wars as he's been until now. Say what you want about C-3PO's worrisome nature, but Sir Anthony plays the character well in various media, is a great actor, and is an equally-great human being. Should he choose to become involved with any other projects in the future, I truly wish him well.

My guess is the evil Rey is some sort of vision or related to the Rey/Kylo lightsaber force thing: creating alternate realities.
I can only hope this evil Rey scene is something that appears as an alternate reality visible through one of the Space Anus portals. Otherwise, I might think that Episode IX has opted to be one of those camp humor films that tries too hard to be zany and ends up leaving everyone feeling angry and disappointed instead.

All you have to do is say "he's jealous of her power, and she wishes that she had a family like he did". It makes Kylo come off like an insecure jackass, which he is, but it's completely innocuous and doesn't imply a "will they, won't they" thing.
Yeah but they gotta tease those Reylos since they're the biggest part of the nu-fanbase. Its amazing really. The SW fanbase was always a bit messy and cringy but always shared common ground, then comes Disney and opens the floodgates to a whole new kind of horror that will make sure the fanbase and the franchise will never be same again. No future SW discussions will ever be had without someone bringing up how hot Rey and Kylo are or how Disney fucked up, not because of bad media, but because they didn't canonize PoeFinn.

So the with the "Rey turns dark side and gets a darth maul lightsabre" shit, assuming its not just a dumb vision....which frankly I think it is, there are two possible routes this story tumor can go down. Neither of them are very pretty

a) Suberversions are well and truly expectated and she winds up the ultimate villain of the trilogy in a stunning and brave and totally-not-our-hamfisted-way-of-getting-fanboys-we-called-misogyneest-for-hating-her-back plot twist with Kylo randomly turning good because....anyway

b) Rey's mary sue power reaches the next logical step as she goes full dark and edgy antihero while still being fawned over by everyone as she takes over the first order and becomes the new sith lord but as a "good" sith at the head of a "good" empire, and the story straight up turns into a crappy harry potter fanfic where hermione gets a katana, learns kung fu, replaces voldemort as wizard hitler, and takes over the world but is still inexplicably good*

*sadly not some shit I made up...my memory of hilariously shit fanfics of mediocre childrens books is still quite good

She's also the big brain who said that the title "Rise of the Skywalker" meant nothing.
They can't kick her out of the door fast enough, in my opinion.

When she was first unvieled as leading Lucasfilm, I was impressed: old guard, great producer filmography, and seemed savvy. I thought it was in good hands...

She ended up being, almost comically, a stereotypical neurotic soccer mom being told to lead the franchise. I did not expect that...

Most likely vision or alternate reality, I'm almost postive. But, outside chance it could be a clone. That Rey is some sort of Skywalker experiment by Palpatine, in secret.

But, that seems so convoluted to introduce in the last film. I also think its unbelievably risky to make your lead protagonist a science experiment. However, its JJ and its possible...

Ya know if I were in the writer chair I would go whole hog on the "Rey was a science experiment by palpatine and co" and make it a meta commentary on how the character was specifically moulded to be ultra perfect at everything at the cost of her very humanity by a callous and uncaring organisation at the behest of a bitter and evil madman

Whole thing sounds weird and just seems to exist to have Ahsoka briefly clash with Palpatine.
I know I'm late, but that's fucking disgusting for several reasons. They are named Aagen Kolar, Kit Fisto, and Sasee Tinn. Now, those who aren't nerds might ask what these names mean.

They are three Jedi council masters, all highly decorated swordsmen, who were killed by Palpatine in less than five seconds.

How in the FUCK is Ashoka supposed to survive that?! Grievous getting the shitstick for her sake was bad enough, but that's just retarded.

Its not that you can't do it, its that you don't have enough time to do it effectively. A plot point like that should be introduced well ahead of the climax.

Hand waving it in just makes it an absolute mess...

You could argue hints, I guess. The multiple Reys in the cave during TLJ. But, hints don't develop a point like that and make it have some sort of meaning/purpose...

Still, I think its on the table...

Frankly winding up an absolute mess is pretty much the best way this shitshow can end, and better than it deserves.

I had three theories for Rey, going all the way back to Force Awakens:

1) She is the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker. This is a development of the Force that, as far as I know, is untouched in Star Wars, but the idea of "reincarnation" can delve into the more spiritual and religious natures of the Force. Rey could be seen as either the return of the Chosen One, or the return of the Anti-Christ destroyer, and both sides try to pull her to their cause. Some people would fear her because of this.

2) She is the granddaughter of Palpatine, with one of her parents being the child of a concubine of Palpatine's (and yes, I can fully believe Old Man Palpy getting his freak on with concubines in the past. As Mel Brooks always said, "Its good to be da King"). Her family went into hiding knowing the lineage of the family and ultimately gave Rey up, knowing that she was the last of Palpatine's line and would be seen as an outcast and even hunted down and killed if revealed. Rey's force powers and strength in the force with no training is the result of Palpatine reaching out to her from beyond the grave given his deep roots in the Dark Side of the Force and (as the EU always presented) his quest for immortality. Palaptine ultimately wants to take possession of her body (being a blood relative makes this connection easier) and assume a new life.

This could tie into Kylo Ren, the Knights of Ren, and Snoke who are revealed to be part of a Dark Side cult. Not fully trained Sith, but true believers of the cause that try to gain knowledge and power second hand from whatever resources they can find. Snoke is an old consort of Palpatine's who knows of The Emperor's plans to resurrect himself, and put together the Knights of Ren to make that happen. This cult is in search of the last vessel for Palpatine to bring him back, who turns out to be Rey. In the Force Awakens novelization, Kylo Ren says something to the effect of "Its you!" when Rey pulls Anakin's lightsaber to her hand. This could have implied that there was something about her that he just realized but she wasn't aware of, rather than just a simple declarative "Oh its you again" type of meaning. She was the last vessel of the Emperor that he's and the Knights of Ren have been searching for, and Kylo realized this.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if JJ went this route with it in IX and it would probably be the least offensive thing they could do with it.

and 3) The obvious one that got thrown around alot: Rey is a clone experiment gone awry. Either a clone of Palpatine, a clone of Anakin, or a clone made from Luke's hand, but she didn't turn out as expected and ultimately got dumped in the ass end of nowhere. Being a clone of one of the all time great force users, she displays a strong connection to the Force that she doesn't fully understand.

Why do I have this feeling that I put way more thought into this than the people making the movies?

Ahsoka has max plot armor that's why. Even if the Palpatine vs Ahsoka episode was scrapped, they're still gonna do Maul vs Ahsoka for the revival on Disney+ since Ahsoka has to fight every iconic villain. Might as well just have Ahsoka fight Supreme Leader Snorkel while they're at i-... Aw fuck they might actually do that. Tie Snoke's backstory to Ahsoka or some shit.

Question is who is stronger, Rey or Ahsoka? Filoni also seems interested in a live action Ahsoka show for Disney+...

If this Rey clone thing turns out to be true, it might mean that they're also recycling the Emperor's clones plotline from Dark Empire. I can already see it now. The knights of Ren are all Matt Smith and Palpatine's clones.

Then again, I personally think that Rey and Kylo's force time jumps causes time to get fucked, which itself causes even their own pasts to briefly be changed, transforming them into different incarnations for like 2 seconds. So chances are... Rey and Kylo do a warp, they end up back in the Death Star while Kenobi is fighting Vader. They are briefly seen but quickly warp back to their own time, but now Rey is evil and Kylo is good, they then do another warp to the events of Solo or some shit as their fight continues and when they get back to their own time they're back to their old selves. I've seen this kind of bullshit once before in a 2000s show where characters kept switching between good and evil as they traveled through portals, but I can't remember what it was but I think it was on FOX or WB.

A would honestly be the funniest thing ever and make literally no one like the sequel trilogy

Those are actually really fascinating ideas that would work well in the ST. But Kennedy would sadly ignored them.

Kinda off-topic question regarding Lucasfilm, if Disney doesn’t own the rights to the first four Indiana Jones movies since Paramount made them with Lucasfilm and can’t have them on Disney+, do they still get royalties for them or does Paramount since they help create them with Lucasfilm. I ask this because Paramount is apparently in talks to acquire a 50% stake in Miramax, which Disney owned, and I was wondering if a Paramount-Miramax deal could affect Disney getting those rights back or not.

I don't get this poster. Why does Sidious look so shit? Like he's mid 2000s CGI or something
