This is exactly why lawyers advertise on television.

Papers get filed, there's an exchange of letters, and then - so long as there is a shred of merit - they discuss a settlement. As long as the plaintiff isn't asking for too much, they get a check without setting foot in a courtroom. There are 4 people in my neighborhood who have brought sexual harassment claims against their employers and gotten six figures. The fact they were all talking seems to have helped.

Anyone working for Funimation should be speaking with an attorney this week. Pro tip: give special consideration to any lawyer whose advertisements include the phrase "heavy hitter." It's a quiet signal amongst attorneys to move directly to settlement.

I WOULD agree, but this was timed WELL. Almost all of them are out of studio and at cons when this hit. There HAS to be a paper trail.

But Funimation -- Sony -- is a corporation, and they don't do shit without it being in writing.

There's a paper trail. Guaranteed. Even if it's just their lawyers telling HR people to tell the VAs to SHUT THE FUCK UP NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW.

even if they used phones they likely used VOIP which means their ISP has records........ so they still fucked up.

note: not their ISP dammit I meant they have a server someone with the calls recorded because these companies do that. apologies, i'm currently going on 23 hours.

These audio clips are all embarrassing funny where I'm laughing at the actors, not regular haha funny where I'm laughing with them. What a bunch of smegheads. Incest and rape jokes coming from a group of people who tried to frame a guy for sexual misconduct with minors because he believes in Jesus.
Even better is that the Krillin actor taps out just before finishing the joke & apologizes lol. That's just too fucking fitting.

If I were Toriyama, I think I'd be pissed off at this, at least just a little bit.

I've heard that story from him (or at least an account of him speaking of it), but I think a substantial part of his commitment has to do with him wanting to do the role despite how much it slaughters his vocal cords. It was definitely the case when the Broly movie broke records in anime movie history, but even before that, it's hard to imagine that Sabat wasn't trying to voice half of Dragon Ball on his own.

Judging by his "menchies" there was talk with his friends of doing a "Best of Dub Outtakes" article in order to counter the narrative of the #FuniLeaks and try to act like saying faggot and other slurs are just everyday things in the dub industry. So expect a damage control article about that in a few days. He'll probably throw in some general hot takes on the lawsuit as well.

Well sony japan is pretty oldschool, they maybe dont have a paper trail, but those idiots at funi wrote alot of emails and memos to each other for sure.

Maybe. But Japan is the land of fighting giant robots, so I can't imagine they don't use email, skype, etc.

That said, given that this is drama with a contractor (funi), sub contractor (okratron 5k or w/e), and other sub contractors (rial, marchi, chainbeard, etc), and funi itself answers to sony USA, why would Sony [Japan] have anything on it?
