Ever since the Dungeons and Dragons hysteria, I've had my eyes out for people abusing social movements for their own ends. Around the same time D&D was happening I remember reading an article by a guy tying the D&D hysteria to the 1950s comic book moral panic (Frederic Wertham and his book Seduction of the Innocent) and the birth of the comics code authority.

McMartin preschool was my first wake-up call as to how bad it could really get

then the false recovered memory episode (because of the Ellen Bass book Courage to Heal) ... women accusing their fathers of rape 30 years after the fact, couple of men jailed with zero proof that anything bad ever happened (other than a therapist "helping" their patients write sex abuse fiction and calling it real).

then the Duke Lacrosse trial - these were the national things going on, and locally , and the whole pictures on tard cum carton thing, and in my local community, the absolute shit show every time a kid or a woman vanished (never when a guy vanishes of course).

I've noticed that as well, the similarity between this stuff and past things like the "Satanic Panic" in the 1980s, moral panics and hysteria seem to be just a very shitty aspect of American culture, I mean hell, you can trace this all the way back to the Salem witch trials even.

And it's interesting how it transcends the left/right dynamic, it can come from either side.

Chuck’s affidavit makes it very clear that Funimation employees were kept in line through fear of Sabat and upper management fucking with their careers... but if Funimation (and by extension their immediate employment) completely implodes as a result of the leaks and the (likely impending) settlement, then they have no real financial incentive to NOT to tell all on Sabat, because what’s he gonna do, threaten jobs that they no longer have?

Watch KV target point 77. After they realise the "Chris Sabat isn't part of this case" line they parrot and attacking Chuck doesn't yield the results they want.

Should probably point out points 76 and 78 first, where Chuck states that Vic always stopped any interaction if the person said no or was uncomfortable. So "he also had a casting couch at Funi thanks to his position" is also off the table.

On 77, I should point out that I doubt there is anything wrong with someone who is famous, using their fame to sleep with people.

Every famous person does it. There's nothing wrong with it, and groupies are a thing so it's not like this is something new. As long as people consent to the activity and there is no ultimatitum or incentive given (I.e. A casting couch situation), even if other people find it shameful that they engage in these acts, it's not wrong. I mean ultimately you shouldn't be using your fame like that, but it's not wrong or illegal as long as there is consent freely given and no ultimatum.

Its a smart move. Gives him credibility. And Vic wasnt fired for abusing celebrity.
