Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

At the risk of sounding like a crazed conspiracy nut, what really troubles me about finding about all these people coming out the wood work over Vic is how connected everything is.
Nathan Sharp was in FFVII Abridged which starred Justin Briner who is KickVic.
FFVII Abridged is a TFS production which had some members (Amber Lee Connors and Howard Wang) come out as KickVic.
Going off track, you had Sharp’s fellow musicians being KickVic (Amanda Lee, Jonathan Young).
And they’re all connected to Funimation in some way.
If Zach Callison or Markiplier come out as KickVic, it’ll turn into all out Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

This is Geekdom all over again. I'd have to look into the people you labeled as we have three...4 different people on KV. The first are the people so delusioned Vic actually is a pedophile which is a number probably in the two digits. The second is people who hate Vic which is the majority. The third are people just going along simply to keep their jobs or only believe it as it was from credible people they've trusted for years aka KV in name only. The fourth are people doing it for attention and don't give a shit beyond that. I mean one could consider Chuck Hueber as KickVic in a way. That's why it's a bit stretching to point fingers at people until we get all of the facts. Their skeletons get released later making it easier to judge.

----------------

On a different note, I didn't realize Vic had to jump through so many hoops just to be at Kameha Con. Vic had to hire his own security just to be at Kameha Con and fund it out of his pocket. I'm not going to really point fingers but dang Vic must really love his fans doing all of that while being at the same site as accusers and having to be isolated off just to meet with them. No wonder he felt a little depressed there. Kind of got treated like a criminal in a way. The way Vic acted won me over and I am just more and more surprised by him. Maybe some day if a con is nearby I'll go out to meet him. I really wonder how many fans he's picked up due to this whole mess.

Actually, here's the real question, which of these is higher: the number of fans Vic gains in a day or the number of followers Greg loses in a day.

I don't think neither Nick or Ty were invested on burning Funi to the ground. Then again, the leaks were to prove the hypocrisy of the company, allowing their workers to do whatever they wanted while getting someone fired for dad jokes. The fall of funi is just collateral damage.

In my book, actively working to burn down a company for firing someone is just as autistic as the fujos sperging against studios for their buttsex dose (ie the Voltron fandom).

edit: also Nick mentioned on the leaks videos he doesn't care what happens next after the leaks.
I don't think it was the main purpose, but a foreseable side-effect.

I did have a followup thought. If Funi's lawsuit payouts are covered by insurance., you could burn Funi to the ground and still get your money. So if it helped your case it's all win.

Iago is sabat

I think Ty, and especially Vic, weren't interested in burning anything to the ground---initially.

I think everyone would have been much better off had Funi, and co. settled early and kept things quiet, but they continued to try and scorch Vic to the point there was nothing left to lose.

They made it clear Vic had no future in Voice Acting as long as the status Quo stood, they gave Vic and Ty every incentive (and ammunition) to burn it down. If they would have been amicable to settling Vic and Ty would have been likewise invested in preserving the integrity of the brand, but now...

Well, you reap what you sow.

Iago is sabat

Does Sabat not work for Funimation? I thought he worked for both Funimation and his own company?

Ty says Iago does not work for either company he's interested in (Funi or Rooster Teeth).

I think what Ty said is that Iago is not an employee, not that he doesn't work there. Sabat is apparently a contractor.

Again, none of them can agree on a date. 10, 13, 14, 16, 20 years? Which is it? Yet they all know so much about it somehow.

Wiki says:

In 1995 Funimation acquired the license for the distribution of Dragon Ball in the United States. They contracted Josanne B. Lovick Productions and voice actors from Ocean Productions to create an English version for the anime and first movie in Vancouver, British Columbia. The dubbed episodes were edited for content,[10] and contained different music. Thirteen episodes aired in first-run syndication during the fall of 1995 before Funimation canceled the project due to low ratings.

In March 2001 Funimation announced the return of Dragon Ball to American television, featuring a new English version produced in-house with slightly less editing for broadcast (though the episodes remained uncut for home video releases), and they notably left the original background music intact.[10][11] The re-dubbed episodes aired on Cartoon Network from August 20, 2001,[12] to December 1, 2003. Funimation also broadcast the series on Colours TV and their own Funimation Channel starting in 2006.[13] This English dub was also broadcast in Australia and New Zealand. In Canada and Europe, an alternative dubbed version was produced by AB Groupe (in association with Blue Water Studios) and was aired in those territories instead of the Funimation version.

So the OG DBZ ended in 2003 I'm assuming. The earliest clip I can place is probably the Sabat clip where he mentions nail, who only appears in the frieza Saga (Sub, 1991 and Dub, 1999). As there was no way to get access to accurate translations (source: the excuse they give for not accurately translating from the source material for the OG Dub, see multiple con panels and interviews where they've stated as much) these characters were likely only introduced as the cast started recording lines for them which would mean that the earliest recording might probably occur sometime in 1998/1999. They also stopped dubbing these episodes in 2002/2003 so the VAs would undoubtedly be busy with other works and not have time to goof around about dbz or 'fuck up' whilst recording their lines. These clips, therefore have occurred somewhere between 1998 and 2003, making them between 16-21 years old.

Again, I'll ask, why weren't they shown at cons or included in special features in the time period since then if they're bloopers like the MHA and FMA stuff, especially since they just released the 30th anniversary blurays?

Could 77 have been bait to trick KickVic and the Threadnought into sharing the affidavit?
I think 77 was included merely because Chuck knew this would be made public and wanted to make it clear that he doesn't condone sleeping around and cheating on your fiance. The guy's married with 6 kids or something, he has his own reputation to maintain.

Those saying "Vic wants to burn funimation to the ground", no, funimation wanted to burn Vic's life to the ground, this is Vic kicking back. And he has every fucking right to do so.
Edit: Actually, Vic doesn't even want to do it, in retaliation. This is just the natural consequence when funimation has so many skeletons in their closet.
He just wanted to carry on living his damn life, working for the fans.

If Chris Sabat took responsibility for what he did and how he treated people, there's no reason not to forgive him. Vic would do it.

But kickvic people have no idea what the value of forgiveness is. They've completely bastardized the concept of it. "You better admit to all of this and beg for forgiveness or we'll drag you!"

Why would anyone ever ask for forgiveness from someone who's outright stated they want to see them destroyed?

He DID apologize to Monica, and it did nothing. Chuck Huber tried to help, and they declined. Vic apologized on Twitter and in person, but it wasn't good enough.

They've had Vic's attention now for quite some time and they've done nothing to help him change whatever it is they say he needs to change. Now you have his attention. Now you're in court. Now the "truth" can come out and we can all face our flaws and own them.

But that's not what happened, and it's not what's happening now.

There's no better time than now to reach out to him (well except for the lawsuit of course) and speak to him about what this is all about.

But it's all about lies and jealousy, so they know they have nothing, and that's why they're fucked. That's why Monica didn't respond and say "Vic, you did this and this" or "Vic, you've apologized before and repested the same behavior. I'm sorry, I felt pushed to report you. But not about the attempted hotel rape. I'm saving that until after you get fired for eating my jellybean, kissing a woman after asking if you could and she said yes, and trying to fuck two adult women but getting denied and moving on wjth your life. No, I'll save the most heinous thing until...after...the investigation."

They could have avoided ALL of this...but they are too fucking prideful and it couldn't be clearer judging by the way they've handled this so-called case of sexual assault, pedophilia, sexual harassment, etc.

They're embarrassing people and if I were buddies with then I'd be very fucking careful about what I say or do around them.

They'll give you the same fucking treatment, friendo.

Good for Chuck for holding people accountable, even Vic, and calling Sabat out directly. Put eyes on him. See what happens to Chuck now and how Chris reacts. Best possible outcome is Chris has a breakdown and realizes how shitty of a person he's been and asks VIC for forgiveness. That would be a fucking plot twist, eh?

Personally I say we should give him all the consideration he gave vic, but I suppose a chance to defend himself would be fine.

Does Sabat not work for Funimation? I thought he worked for both Funimation and his own company?

Ty says Iago does not work for either company he's interested in (Funi or Rooster Teeth).
He contracts for Funi. He does VA and director roles.

He owns okratron 5000.

I'd say Sabat probably makes more overall because he looks to have his fingers in all of the pies.
He's probably got his fingers in female VAs too.

I'm just wondering if Sabat had been pissing his pants about #metoo,
and when nobody came for him he relaxed
and felt he had carte blanche to pull any crap he felt like.

This will be such epic "just deserts" time. I'm placing bulk popcorn orders.

Yeah, Sabat has got to be worried. He has a lot of different avenues of exposure. Both personal and business. (Btw Bravo Nick for putting the Andy Signore interview in the middle of this weeks Weeb Wars coverage. While likely completely coincidental, it does send a terrifying message to whoever may be facing such. Like C Harvey Weebstein here.)

Sabat’s problem is he has been hit on three fronts this week. His frat house gay porn abuse of IP entrusted to him, which weakens him in the industry. His casting couch approach to hiring. And his acting as an industry gatekeeper and vindictive enforcer to keep his casting couch full and keep the toadies licking his boots. So he is weakened. Safe bet is claims start materializing now that he has lost most of his apparent power to end careers.

He has a 4th threat. Which is Ty Beard round 1.5. It’s pretty clear he will be added.

And finally he is the most likely scapegoat that will be put forward to make peace between Sony and Toei. He’s at the center of all the problems. He’s the obvious and easy change to satisfy all parties.

Have to wonder why Ty and/or Nick would want to potentially burn Funi to the ground. I read a tweet suggesting Funi might have little net worth and maybe people like Sabat have it all in their personal pockets. Don't know how true that is but might explain this 'wierd relationship' with Okatron Nick keeps mentioning and the willingness to burn Funi down.

Why would Nick, Ty or even Vic care at this point? And what else would you have them do? They revealed bad actors and actions. Would you prefer they keep this hidden and use it to extort a settlement? Funimation made this bed. They get to lie in it.

And honestly this won’t burn down Funi. Funi at this point is simply valuable branding. Sony will still use it. Toei will likely still work with Sony. What gets burned down is Sabat and the Okratron clique. But as Sabat is so well aware,
VA’s are cheap, plentiful and disposable. They can all be replaced in a week.

Somebody may want to start scheduling welfare checks on Sean “IAM Goku!” Schemmel.

and ... and ... the thing that should have Funimation pissing their pants

there has been NO DISCOVERY YET from Funi, Marchi and other cons that Funimation may have influenced in relation to Vic.

This started out as a @Metoo thing that corporate Japan could not give less of a shit about. It's now turned into a raging dumpster fire with Sony via Funimation

A new visual novel game by Zachtronics has a character that reminds me of someone:

Obviously just a weird coincidence, but the resemblance is uncanny.
And the character in the game has anger issues...

The let's player used that character as the thumbnail for the video:

looks like Toye and Mark Waid aborted child

As evident from Chuck's affidavit, Vic may have been a douche which was why they didn't like him. Alternatively, you're forgetting that all of these people are connected to Sabat in some way. My guess is Sabat and Funi get kickbacks from these content creators and shield them from Toei for any backlash they get for using their IP (TFS and the musicians). You should note that Justin Briner also plays Kouhai Deku to Sabats All Might Senpai in MHA. Hence all of them have things to gain from doing what Sabat says. Of TFS, at least half of them are KV, the only ones I'm not sure about are Masako and Takahata as Lanipator and Kaiser as well as the TFS chichi have come out as KV if I remember correctly
I’m not sure if TFS and YouTube musicians make enough to warrant a decent kickback. Sabat shielding from Toei is probably a decent exchange for them.

Why would Sabat have interest in Rooster Teeth? Monica’s the one with the RT roles.

KV would have found and exploited point 77 on their own. Haven’t they already spun the rest of it already?

Or, best of all possible worlds (for us), Schemmel turns on Rial, Marchi, Funi and Sabat, with recorded phone conversations about setting up Vic with lying defamation and TI.

let me amend: not THE BEST because Schemmel still gets away, but having the least cunty of the cunts out from under the Beard thumb might be OK.

Somebody may want to start scheduling welfare checks on Sean “IAM Goku!” Schemmel.

Luckily I am meeting Chuck in 3 weeks I'll buy him lunch at the con I am helping run as a personal congrats on everyone's behalf.
Which con? Give the man a non-sexual hug from us. I'd love to meet him too.

I'm going to meet Vic in two weeks and I've got a few special gifts for him. Spent hours yesterday fucking around with designing something I hope will be a nice keepsake.

Dunno if I should say what it is as may get accused of powerleveling and I could probably easily be identified by looking at con pics. However I have no intention of going as far as Joseph did and contacting dorks, and I also don't care about being doxed.

What do you guys think? Maybe when the item comes in the mail I can share it with you all?
