"Zoe Quinn did nothing wrong by calling out a rapist, and his suicide is his problem which only proves her right. I have to think that when Zoe goes to hell, she'll get someone farther up the Hell food chain than Pinhead to tell her she's in Hell and explain all of the bad shit she's going to endure for all eternity. And given her crimes and evil deeds, she might even get the "end up at the Pearly Gates, only for the Angel Doorman to tell her point that she's never getting into heaven and after reading off her rap sheet of sins, do the Angel version of pulling a lever and causing her to fall through the clouds straight into the lake of fire version of Hell and vanish as she falls in/sinks to the bottom of the bottomless lake of fire version of hell, because Zoe's evil is such that she doesn't even get a custom-tailored eternal damnation torment but gets to burn in the lake with all of the other sinners.

In all seriousness though, I feel for the guy's family. This is a great example of why we should never assume that anyone is innocent or guilty until we get all the facts in. There's always two sides to every story and usually the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Confusing details there:

Europe burnt witches; in New England and the Salem Witch Trials themselves; hanging was the method of execution.

The Salem Witch Trials were the result of Salem being run by Puritans, who were so fucking conservative that even conservative England was too "sinful" for them.

So you had a bunch of Puritans, who were the fundies fundies and who many had kids and they were in a new nation with lots of room for going off and doing shit their conservative parents didn't like. Adding to this was Tituba (crappy spelling); a slave who knew about "witchcraft" (mainly parlor tricks like seeing the future and making "potions" that would make boys like girls who drink it, and other harmless shit). Tituba was a slave for one of the most powerful families and his daughter and ward (Abigail, who had PTSD from watching her family be massacred by Indians and was a slut).

The girls got caught playing witchcraft and dancing (another no-no for Puritans) and they were in deep deep shit. They sold Tituba out to save themselves and then the parents. In particular, Abigail pushed hard the "we were seduced by the devil" excuse to avoid being expelled from her home as she was a problem child as-is and the parents, out of hysteria and realizing that they could exploit their kids lies, used it to charge people in town who had property they wanted to steal, with witchcraft to effectively legally murder them and steal their land.

(And for the record, the idea that Abigail had an affair with a John Proctor and was motivated for everything she did was an invention of Arthur Miller's the Crucible play; John Proctor never was charged nor was his wife charged in the actual IRL Salem Witch Trials).

Abigail eventually fled Salem as the tide turned against the whole Witch Trial scandal and her final fate has never been discovered; though some have speculated that she became a hooker to survive in neighboring towns that didn't know of her notoriety.

Years later, there have been attempts by feminists to recontextualize the entire Salem Witch trials as the patriarchy being to blame; that because Puritans treated women badly, that Abigail and company at best were behaving like normal kids in a repressed society where normal teen behavior was considered evil, and that them claiming witchcraft made them misbehave was the only way to avoid punishment for stuff that went on all the time in less religious towns/colonies (like Virginia).

Lulz, haven't actually realised this before because I don't really read it anymore, but your comment sparked me to have a look, and Wikipedos article on her speaks of her as 'they'. Had to do a double take because they were talking about one person, so though 'wtf they are they talking about', but there ya go.

Also love how there's no 'Controversies' section about her. What a shit website.
