Zoe never had to make this whole shit public. She could have dealt with it all in private if she wasn't a huge attention whore, but she wanted those asspats from people for being a poor abused woman.
She writes a post that is deliberately worded confusingly, starting off with a mostly unrelated ramble about how someone raped her and she forgave them (because you just forgive your rapist when they apologise but not your so called abusive ex who has is allegedly an abuse surviver and has a mental illness that is well known for making people act like shit), and then goes on to cry about how hard her life has been living with this horrific experience of abuse that she's been scared to talk about for so long. Then she ends with "I don't want anything bad to come of this" and acknowledges that Alec has his own issues.
So no, she didn't pull the trigger per say, but she did post something labeling Alec as an abuser in current year where even thinking about saying something mean to someone is enough to get you "canceled" by someone, leading to him being fired from his job and isolated from friends and family.
None of this would have happened if she never posted the callout in the first place and dealt with her dirty laundry in private like any normal person. So that to me, is really scummy and she deserves to get some backlash for her actions.
From what Alec's sister claimed, he was trying to get better through therapy and working with a mental health team. He didn't kill himself because he was admitting his guilt, he was having treatment for his shitty behaviour caused (apparently) by a personality disorder. He killed himself because he likely thought his life was ruined and everyone he loved was going to abandon him because he was a shitty abusive boyfriend.
The saddest part is, by the looks of the response, he was fucking right. Even his own sister threw him under the bus.
