Apparently Alec made this disturbingly prophetic post back in 2016. It details his issues with Cognitive Distortion (a big theme in NITW).

Zoe Quinn is like the most nightmarish possible real life version of that Ducktales episode where all the rich ducks were getting zapped with a brainwashing ray that made them want to give all their money away. The reaction to GooberGate was one thing, but your brother just killed himself, and your reaction is, "Oh Zoe, people are saying mean things about you. Let me give you money." It's always money. Their first reaction is give Quinn money. And if they really care so much about the things people are saying about Quinn, they should realize that giving her money and publicly announcing it after she accused a man and he committed suicide makes Quinn look worse. No decent human being would accept that money in these circumstances.
It's gotten to the point where it's not just frustrating or disgusting, it's weird and creepy.
There are many other horrid grifters who take advantage of virtue signalling to try (sometimes successfully) to destroy people, but nobody opens pocketbooks like Zoe. Anita wishes she had this kind of wallet force pull superpower.
