Supposedly there are older games in the RPG/cyberpunk genre that let you play a man with a woman's voice, or something like that, so what they're doing now is okay too. It sounds like a what-about-ism that misses the point, but then again, my exposure to dystopian cyberpunk content is limited to Akira, The Matrix, Blade Runner & Deus Ex.
Changing "Birth Record" to "Body Type" seems like a subtle concession to modern transgender ideology, using the cyberpunk genre as a shield. "Cyberpunk has always been about transhumanism and body mods," is the argument I've seen on the YongYea video covering this. Nevermind that the transhumanism in cyberpunk probably has more to do with transplanting your brain into a robot body or uploading it to the internet, and less about sex changes and the gender spectrum. Basically it's more about the relationship between humanity and technology, and what the singularity between the two will look like.
Maybe men with breasts, a cunt, and a female voice is part of what that's supposed to look like, along with cyborg hybrids and techno lizard people, but I doubt if that's what William Gibson had in mind. I wouldn't know, I've only heard references to how his work contributed to the genre.
