At this point, these "controversies" and the tranny tech takeover that stems from them is just the same story playing out over and over again with a different set of people each time. What I want to know is what will happen when it all DOES burn out. What will be the state of tech when all of these "muh feelings" people realize that they can't do half of what this guy could? I'd like to think tech will go back to being a hobby and career for spergs who like computers but the more likely outcome is we bow down to our Chinese overlords.
If you're hoping the end is something spectacular, I have bad news. It's not going to happen that way. The good news is that I suspect it won't take long, and, ideally, will happen within the next 2-3 years, potentially sooner if Silicon Valley gets a regulatory dick in the ass.
If we're
unlucky, this fucks us for a generation and we're lucky to crawl back out of the hole in 10 years. I'm patiently optimistic.
You can directly compare their invasion of Open Source to their invasion of previous communities, and a big difference here is that Open Source is a field that mandates you actually
do shit. If they take over the community entirely (which they seem to be well on their way to doing), the nerds won't stand for it, and will simply move on to form their own communities and divorce themselves from giving a shit. If you thought Gamers could harbor a grudge, you've seen only a
fraction of the potential bile - and Autism - a programmer can muster.
The Coreys of the world are banking on the fact that they can use the position to perpetually gatekeep, calling to mind an irony like the Cult Awareness Network being run by the Church of Scientology. More than any other industry, however, Open Source is put up or shut up, and since
their entire platform involves gutting meritocracy, they're not exactly replete with talent. What they do have is a mixture of assholes who demonstrably know nothing about coding, several with varying levels of competence from "knows vaguely what coding is" to having some experience, and a few captive cucks who know what they're doing. That their software is going to suffer as a result is a foregone conclusion; the question is how bad they fuck up in the process.
They really can't
do anything to stop branch communities from doing their own shit, and the nerds who have already evacuated are probably well on their way to do so off-the-grid. Now, they will try to gatekeep against any upstart community that tries to emerge, likely trying to tar it as racist/sexist/we've seen this shit a billion times render this existing fallible-ist in the process, but that's ultimately not going to matter if the new communities put out good work while the work these clowns shit out continues to get worse and worse. One community will have people doing work that actually matters, the other will be engaging in witch-hunts against its own for wrongthink.
In a war of Autism, the more Autistic always wins, and no one can out-Autism programmers.
