That's the thing. Being a mod on a website or forum really isn't much of an achievement or accomplishment, and it's not like you're speaking from a position of experience or knowledge because of the fact you're a mod. You're just meant to keep the peace, in the same way a security guard doesn't get to dictate the company's direction or guidelines, they're just there to make sure nobody tries to kill somebody or steal something. But even less so, because instead of needing training to deal with dangerous scenarios, you're just some schlub on a computer. It's good to be diligent and even to be proud of your position to a certain degree, but taking so much pride that you brag about it and try to act as the voice of authority because you used to be a mod is laughable.

Looking at PJ's rap sheet I can see he was annoying the mods and while i personally disagree with his take on symbolic resistance is better than be pragmatic. He is correct that the DnD forums are censored by restricting topics to other threads and a USPol thread can be a place to criticize the democrates.

Prester Jane is a literal schizophrenic who is convinced that the Republicans are a fucking death cult that's completely detached from reality. Somehow, this guy was able to convince Debate and Discussion that he had some real insight by claiming the GOP was full of increasingly unhinged radicals driving out moderates for the sake of groupthink, and that conservatives had delusions about some grand narrative where they were all heroes fighting against some sort of antichrist.

Which, given that this was all written in early 2015, is really hilarious to read considering where the Democratic Party is four years later.

My point is that Prester Jane is pretty much the ideal D&D poster. Crazy, unhinged, and absolutely convinced that Trump is running a death camp exclusively for children. When even that person can't survive in SA because he dared to dislike Joe Biden in a thread about US politics, maybe the issue is more with the moderation instead of the posters.

For some economic perspective, Lowtax could probably hire a good remote only sys admin like 75-80k a year and migrate all of SA and fix the database nonsense inside of a year. His whole business is running on fumes and duct tape. Honestly though, he has some strange sort of willpower where he is willing to endure a huge amount of suffering, depression, and failure, if only it means he can avoid working for a couple more months.

Really makes with the thinking.
