Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

A vaguely-interesting recent event of note: TFS has made an announcement about their Abridged stuff.
Most of it is unrelated to Weeb Wars - a guy from the team is explaining that doing the same fucking show for eleven years in a row is a bit tiring, that they're burnt out of content for it and that the most recent project of theirs is not coming along well at all because of its nature and that the next big thing is a long way away.
What is interesting in the context of the Weeb Wars, however, is this particular bit.View attachment 943648
It's by no means a secret that TFS has been in the crosshairs of Toei for years by now. I do have to wonder, though, if this much of attention pointed at that their new, non-Abridged project won't be as easy to attack by Toei hints to them understanding that Sabat might not be able to bestow his sacred ointment upon them.
It'll be hilarious if they end up jumping ship and maybe tell on Sabat's less than legal activities.

The fact that they're suddenly distancing themselves after everything is very telling.
Choosing now to say something as opposed to before if this was an ongoing problem practically confirms some gayops between them and Sabat/Funi in regards to Toei.

They can make whatever public excuse but I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall during whatever conversation was had between those entities involved. Because I'm sure Toei likely inquired.

Meanwhile Dominique Skye out here saying Toei doesn't care.
This says that they probably do. 🤔

And Marchi's probably way more whipsawed emotionally.
Vic may have the resources but Vic "just wants to work", and Ty thinks you "fix business disputes by doing more business".
I really think both of them mean it, and some fans are not hearing how ready Ty and Vic are to settle.

I personally hope they NEVER do, but I've heard nick say these things many times, and I can't deny it because I want a different result.
I'd be fine with them settling. I just think it's unlikely at this point. Vic's in this to defend his reputation and get people to stop fucking with his career. Doing that requires him to not only get people to stop telling lies about him, but to admit to their past lies and apologize to him. I don't think Monica, Ron, and Jamie are ready yet to admit that they deliberately and maliciously told lies about a man to his employer, other business partners, and the public to destroy his career. I don't think Funimation's ready to admit their investigation was a sham that they've lied about at every turn, nor admit that yes their tweet was intended to convince people that Vic was a harasser but it also was a lie as their "investigation" found nothing of the sort, much less anything that supports the lies their other employees like Monica and Marchi are telling about him. I don't think any of them are ready to do that, and turn over the information Vic needs to go after the other people trying to destroy his career. They're all still banking on the TCPA saving them, and possibly on Vic not having the wherewithal to appeal it.

In short, while Vic and Ty would be happy to settle, and settling with Vic would be the best thing to do, it's unlikely to happen because of them. As long as "settling with Vic" means "damage our reputations to partially repair his" rather than "pay Vic some money to shut up and go away" they won't settle. At least not until the lawsuit is much further along and they're staring down the prospect of a trial.

She also said that he already quit Funi during this. Correct me if I am wrong. Also lets play a game. Lets name all the lies Monica has said

She said that over 25 women were in the investigation. It was actually 3

She said Vic was fired from Sentai. He wasn't

She said that JP didn't have the original Va for Broly for the Super movie. They did.

She says that Vic uses his Unlocked to go send his fans after his "victims". Yeah I don't even need to say how much of a lie that is

She says Stan Dahlin saved her. Stan says otherwise.

Anyone got more?

Her claims of not wanting Stephanie's DUI to become public, never mind that the ugly She-Ogre Terez the Crackhead already revealed beforehand.

Her story changing many times, but you already mentioned that.

Her calling Chuck Huber an "unstable man and hypocrite" despite Chuck working with Failmation for years, and since she's cozy to Weebstein then there's no way in hell Chuck would have lasted long as he did...Nor the fact that Chuck tried to advocate for peace, but Monicunt and Blamey Harpy refused because they're that r-e-tarded.

Her claiming Ron's ex-wife was a bitch and gaslighting the woman, while also claiming Ronnie got help and wasn't a psycho trying to be intimidating towards others. Spoilers, that review from PF Chang's and any DM'S that clown sent trying to shut down people say otherwise.

I don't know if it's been mentioned at all yet, but TFS are basically giving up on DBZA and trying their hand at doing their own dragon ball related shorts instead. They also claim they can monetize these shorts and therefor it works out better for them in the long run too.

I wonder if the shadow of Toei is getting a little bit closer with each passing day and they fear that the prince of all couches is losing his touch.

they aren't giving up on DBZA. They are specifically giving up on Bojack. Everything else is up in the air because of severe burnout.

I think it's time to start reading between the lines, DBZA is a chore for them to do nowadays and they've managed to use the popularity of the series to get a foot in the door both on youtube and in the dubbing industry. They'll keep pushing it back or saying they're not happy with the scripts or one of them will have a meltdown due to "burnout" (seriously one of the gayest and most overused excuses by youtubes, 2nd only to "I'm depressed") and eventually people will stop caring about it or just give up expecting anymore.

I think they're only doing this dragonball shorts thing because they know their popularity relies heavily on a dragonball related comedy series. Their gaming stuff gets a fraction of the viewership. DBZA had a good run all things considered, maybe we get a Christmas special or something but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Mark me late and gay if i wasn't the first to bring it up but apparently there's a change.org campaign about schemmel and sabat and i saw this. looks like their next to be #metoo'd

I don't really agree. The Burnout was honestly felt in some DBZA Episodes. Between Frieza's defeat and Android 17 & 18 first appearing you can tell that they weren't having fun with this. They were doing it out of obligation at that stage and it wasn't until they started slowing down that fun was back. The same shows in DBZA Broly. I enjoyed that movie but i enjoyed Episode 60 more because it wasn't as forced. Might DBZA never return? Sure. And i would be okay with it. They made sure to find an ending for the show even more proper than the original and i wouldn't care if they'd leave it at that. But they are best when they have their own thing to work with. DragonShortZ as per their own words is that. It's between Cell and Buu. A Timeframe we don't have anything for so they can do whatever they want with it.

Hilarious that they've been building up to Bojack since practically the beginning (apparently he's in King Kai's planet, haven't checked back for the Cell games, maybe he broke out or something when Cell exploded), but all everyone really wanted was the Broly movie and that was more of a running joke than anything Bojack-related. Now they're choosing to throw their hands up instead and give up instead of potentially going out with a bang with this decade's-long brick joke.

:story: I've expected no less from amateurs.

There's absolutely no way they're gonna touch the new Broly movie either, especially with all the current controversy and the few things they said about it in the past.

Let's be real here, they were never going to get that far to do an abridgment of Super to even get to the new Broly movie. The Buu Saga was always iffy with them, and then there's GT. Even if Weeb Wars never happened and/or Toei was super cool with them, Super was always going to be low-priority.

True. I would have imagined they'd give it consideration due to it's popularity, but with all that considered, it was farfetched anyways.

The movie at least.

funnily enough the connection between Bojack and King Kai's Planet is actually from Bojack's Movie itself. In the actual Movie he is locked inside a planet somewhere and that lock is directly tied to the cardinal Kai's still being alive so killing King Kai breaks him free.

I've completely forgotten about that. Still would've made for a funny brick joke in DBZA.

That's fucking hilarious.

It took less time to produce the actual anime you're riding the coattails off. I wonder if the over worked and underpayed animators whined about it being "tiring." Cry me a fucking river.
