Didn't the PotC ride have a couple of AAs removed or something, specifically the one with the pirate chasing around a frightened woman at the bar?

A couple years ago I think? The earliest I recall them being gone was 2009. They changed them out to the women chasing after the men (who are carrying plates of food) but I think they completely removed the couple closest to the boats. DL’s and WDW’s have had their “questionable” scenes removed but funnily enough Paris’ remains as is.

Another detail I hate about the renovation is the inclusion of the murals on the interior when you walk in. They remind me of shitty knock off window painting you see in bodegas.

Edit: I highly recommend Jason Surrell’s books on the making of Pirates and Mansion. Both of them cover the history, concepts, and inner working of both rides perfectly. The Pirates one is slightly out of date (was published during the movie addition in 2005). The Mansion book was republished in 2015 after originally being published in 2003 with promotional images from the Eddie Murphy movie. The new version replaced that with information on Phantom Manor and Mystic Manor.

It was sad to lose any of it anyway.

Do the new Imagineers even do the Hidden Mickeys anymore? I haven't kept up with that shit, but it was fun trying to spot them as a kid.

It's a shame. The OG guys really knew what they were doing.
I'd argue at least part of it is because of Marc Davis's influence on the designs of that attraction. Which hurts Jack and Redd more.

As for Trumpbot, I can totally see them just making hasty revisions of the Hillary animatronic.

That sketch of the snow queen with the hat and long hair...I love it
Really make you mourn what it became and I say this loving Groff and his derriere

I'm pretty sure the first round of sanitizing Pirates at WDW was the 90s? Maybe mid?

I should've mentioned Marc's name. That ride was his baby through and through.

I’m glad Rolly Crump is hanging in there, I saw him back in August at a horror convention and the old guy is still full of energy. He’s probably the main reason they’ve barely touched the Mansion.

On the subject of theme park sperging there's some really great stuff over at http://passport2dreams.blogspot.com/ , like they really get deep into investigating random stuff, a good run through of how that boat ride that got nixed for Big Thunder probably would have turned out, a bunch of music loops, lots of neat things.

What if they did the Mickey Mouse club with what you see on Castro Street in San Francisco? Tweens doin' the same body outfits and black whips.

Yes. While going through Smuggler's Run, there was a hidden mickey on the monitor that Hondo talks to you through before you get into the cockpit ride vehicle.

I also know there's one on the full size Falcon itself.

Going into a different territory here but I'll say it here, Phil of the Future and That's So Raven were, hands down, the best Disney sitcoms. The others don't compare.

I went to Disneyland yesterday but I was on a damn budget this time, no expensive meals or things for me.
thankfully the Jolly Holiday Combo comes out to less than $20, that’s an okay meal despite it consisting of only tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.
Oh, and I checked the wait times via their app and I noticed one odd thing: the lines are actually fairly decent outside of Matterhorn. I wonder if it has to do with the weather? It’s cloudy today there’s a slight chance of rain too.
It was sad to lose any of it anyway.
If there’s one good thing they’ve done to PoTC here in DL is that the smog effect and holographic Davy Jones head is gone.

Goddamn it seems like everyone is going right now, including here. I'm going to be there myself with my family in less than two weeks, too. Around the same time as my supervisor, one of the employees as my parent's bank, one of my sister's coworkers, and I think someone else. I had no idea this was such a hot time to go.

I think part of it is due to the lackluster reception of Galaxy’s Edge along with school going back into session, it’s cut down on attendance a bit.

That said I DO see a lot of people with Halloween-related goodies so that will certainly help. Not having Ghost Galaxy running this year makes it a bit bittersweet though.
