Oh, FUCK OFF OUTTA HERE.
A total desperation move, creating a brand-new character and inserting yourself into the Marvel catalog of 9000+ characters. First of all, let's look at that name:

Again, a pop-culture mishmash of things she likes in media, just like her fake name. But the desperation is from hoping other sycophants use her OC because Marvel cuts you a check every time a character you created is used in anything, be it another book, movie, show, mobile game, etc. And Chelsea already has bloggers hungry to push this shit: https://comicbook.com/marvel/2019/09/28/marvel-hellcat-patsy-walker-ghost-cat-sidekick/ (archive: http://archive.li/5ytsh)
Marvel's Hellcat Gets an Unexpected New Sidekick
By JAMIE LOVETT - September 28, 2019 06:10 pm EDT

Marvel’s Patsy Walker has had a strange history in the Marvel Universe. Originally conceived as the star of a slice-of-life teen humor comic, Patsy grew up, graduated high school, and went on to have a career. Then she became a superhero, joined the Defenders, married Daimon Hellstrom and ended up with Satan as a father-in-law. She and Daimon divorced, but Patsy has continued her superhero career. Now her life has taken another unusual turn with the addition of an unusual sidekick. The new twist in Patsy’s life comes from a story in the third issue of Marvel’s woman-focused anthology miniseries Fearless. The story, titled “Copycat,” is written by Zoe Quinn, with art by Marika Cresta.

The story begins with Hellcat apparently causing a fire in New York City. Patsy Walker is awakened by a phone call from her good friend and frequent employer She-Hulk, aka the lawyer Jennifer Walters. She-Hulk tells Patsy what happened, assuming it wasn’t actually Hellcat who did it. Lucky for her Jessica Jones is already there to help her find the real culprit.

This soon leads to Hellcat running into her old ex-husband, Daimon Hellstrom. It turns out that one of Daimon’s demons from the hell dimension he runs escaped. But the demon isn’t very good at being a demon. Instead, it was inspired by Patsy’s memoir to try to be a superhero. It imitated Hellcat and went into the city and only caused the fire by accident.

Daimon is determined to bring the demon back to Hell, but Patsy sticks up for the demon. Instead, the demon returns to Patsy’s apartment. It finds a new form for itself and is now Patsy’s friend and ally, Ghost Cat, aka Cait Nekomata.

What do you think of the introduction of Ghost Cat? Let us know in the comments. Fearless #3 is on sale now.

Zoe Quinn Creates a New Character for Marvel Comics (Fearless #3 Spoilers)
Posted on September 25, 2019 | by Rich Johnston

When Marvel Comics published Fearless #1, Bleeding Cool reported that it was ‘an Actual Feminist Polemic’ but that Marvel Fanboys would want it anyway, for the appearance of certain fan favourite characters, new to the Marvel Universe.

We noted that there had been much outrage from certain corners of fandom at what they considered to be feminist polemics in Marvel Comics titles, especially that week with the reaction to the Thor’s Love And Thunder movie news. And that some people on social media are happy to mistake telling an interesting story for, and I quoted, ‘an intersectional feminazi propaganda tract’. Which said more about their own identity politics than anyone elses.

But when it came to Fearless, that Marvel Comics seems to have decided that if people are going to say that stuff anyway, no matter what they do, they might as well actually do it. Fearless #1 was a declaredly feminist comic book, with plenty of women creators, female characters in the focus, and inspirational empowering on-the-nose messages throughout. And people could buy it, or not, as they chose.

With issue #3 that included hiring game developer, comics writer and focus for gamergate hatred, Zoe Quinn, to write a Patsy Walker: Hellcat story. Which is published today. It may be just a short one-off story but it may have a greater impact.

As Patsy Walker has to deal with a copycat version of herself acting in an extreme fashion in public… revealed as an errant demon who had found inspiration in Patsy. And, rather than returning to Hell, created a brand new identity rather than copy that of Hellcat.

Welcome to the Marvel Universe, Ghost Cat. Who knows where you’ll end up?

Is it just me being confused reading this dogshit of a comic or is the "you big green drama queen" speech balloon on the first panel supposed to be coming from Hellcat, not from She-Hulk's text on the phone, since it lacks the text message heading? I am not sure if comic writers get to dictate speech balloons placement, but this seems to be a bit of an oversight. It also makes it look like She-Hulk is talking on the phone instead of texting.

EDIT: I know it's Hellcat's line since it is colored blue, but for fuck's sake, shouldn't it include the heading or just fucking come from her mouth (like it does on the fifth panel) instead of autistically following this kind of conversation format? It makes readers (like me just now) have to look twice to figure out who the fuck is talking here.

Zoe tries on careers like doofy sluts try on clothes in a shopping montage, half the time she is trying to do something stupid and sarcastic and we are sitting outside the change room laughing and going "YAAAAAS QUEEN"

Creating a single new character for your comic book is a triumph worthy of multiple articles, huh?

They better be getting blown to write this trash, because the alternative that they're doing it for free may be the most pathetic thing in the extremely shallow cesspool of patheticness that is modern journalism.

sad thing is, there's probably more writing in those puff piece articles than in the actual 12-page comic itself.

Should we swap out the "Old Uncle Anime" moniker in the thread title for "Ghost Cat?"

Marvel is getting on Chris-Chan levels of autistic now. Also, the artist for this issue probably just as bad, that standing posture is like a barbie doll, I wouldn't be surprised if they use dolls for references and just trace over better artists for the more challenging dynamic poses, I see so many of these artists now and days. Just nobody does anything about them because they're either friends, relatives, or sleeping/living with staffers and/or editors. Its fucking disgusting.

How laughably bad.

Why don't you try making your references more cryptic? Like there are a billion cat girls in anime and you could have gone with one that has a normal sounding name instead of shit that's forced as hell. Like it would not be risking copyright infringement to have the character's first name be Merle.

Cait Nekomata is the personification of HELLO FELLOW KIDS NERDS

It totally happens, and it's quite comical when people catch and call them on it.

It really makes you appreciate someone like James Gurney who when he needs a reference makes his own cardboard and wooden block scale cities and lifelike sculptures which are clay on top of a wire skeleton.

He plans the scene out in 3 dimensions

Seriously those are just normal wooden building blocks that you can buy for toddlers.

This is a nitpick, but Cait Sith from FF7 takes his name from a real Celtic legend, I'm sure Zoe is stalking this thread and thinking that smugly so I thought I'd point it out.

It's still cringy as fuck, any other creator making a lazy catgirl character would probably get a snide mocking post from her back in the day "oh eww marvel aping hentai" or some shit

Yeah but Cait Sith isn't a first and last name, And then going full weeb retard with Nekomata means you've outed yourself.

All that story of one hell cat fangirling for another reminded me of the Homestuck's Calliope and her fangirling, which was done either by Zoe or under her influence (correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the impression I got after reading about it in the Homestuck thread here). So Quinn didn't even write anything new compared to her own previous characters.

Yeah but Cait Sith isn't a first and last name, And then going full weeb exceptional individual with Nekomata means you've outed yourself.
To be fair, Cáit is a first-name in Ireland (and I imagine Scotland). You are right though, in that we can probably be assured that her inspiration was from a shallow pop culture dive.
