What the fuck is a "Defamation Lawyer"?

Its not like there's a special bar for defamation law, as far as I know the only discipline with a SUPER SPESHUL Bar is Patent Lawyers and they're all gigantic fucking nerds.

Defamation is tort law... Jesus H. Rutherford... where do these super speds crawl out from

Its fine Ty only has a license to you know, practice every form of law there is in Texas. Some wild shit like that. Oh wait thats just being admitted to the bar.

It's almost like he is a business and estate lawyer, and needs to have an understanding of tort law...

Like for fuck sake, that's like making fun of a pianist for fucking up "chopsticks" one time. It's a basic fundamental part, sure, but because you don't play it perfectly every single time doesn't somehow mean you're no longer an "expert"

I just read the whole stupid conversation that this was just a small portion of, and it's definitely interesting seeing the cycling logic here. I legit kinda feel bad for Fred.

For those who don't want to go through it I'll do a quick recap
>Nick should have disclosed the relationship with Ty, both legally and morally
>Actually no, Nick might have had a legal duty to disclose to Vic, but definitely had no duty to disclose to GFM
>But it's legally and morally wrong, right?
>No, it's not legally wrong
>It's clearly wrong, though
>No, there's nothing that legally requires him to disclose that to GFM since it wouldn't affect anything
>It doesn't matter if it's not legally wrong. We were talking about being morally wrong the entire time, dipshit

It was unpleasant to read. I had to check multiple times that there wasn't something fucked up with my mouse's scroll wheel that made me read the exact same shit multiple times. It's like a poorly made magic eye image that's supposed to have depth but just makes your eyes hurt.

Its not even morally wrong because the GFM was not started to go to Ty, it would go to whoever Vic chose, nobody forced vic to choose BHBH

It was interesting at first to see lawtwitter slap fight with each other, but two or three tweets in I couldn't stand reading the idiotic drivel any longer, the tl;dr is appreciated.

Anyway, now we sit and wait for the race: does Chupp rule first, or do the defendants break confidentiality first? Since no deals were made, they're not in any danger of losing a settlement if they share, and that means loose lips are more likely to drool all over the newspaper to try to make Vic look bad again.

Fred actually brought that up. Not that it really got through to them, of course

This is the kind of shit that makes me mad at he internet, this kind of rallying bullshit.

Politics is not a sports team. Lawsuits aren't sports teams.

These gutless cowards hide behind making everything into a bloodsport and then they bitch and whine because they falsely invested in a cause they wanted to succeed.

It's called disappointment, and I am saddened that the world removed teaching children what that was and how to deal with it, because now you have this ocean of shit.

Vic doesn't owe anyone a damned thing in this lawsuit. People donate to help him, that doesn't guarantee a set outcome.

Idiots need to stop being so selfish and gullible. Just because you put money or feefees into something does not guarantee it's success.

Welcome to reality

It's strange Fred's trying to be reasonable. He's still walking the lawtwitter line and insisting Nick and Ty fooled Vic, or whatever, but he's not living off in Nega-Mars like the rest of them. How long until they physically devour his bones?

Do bear in mind that everyone complaining about making I N F O R M E D D E C I S I O N S regarding the GFM are people who explicitly would never have donated in the first place. Nobody who has donated to the cause has said "this is bullshit I'm refunding", even after all this.

That being said, anyone who donates to a GFM like this (or any GFM, for that matter) and doesn't expect the possibility of it all going to shit is absolutely stupid.

It's strange Fred's trying to be reasonable. He's still walking the lawtwitter line and insisting Nick and Ty fooled Vic, or whatever, but he's not living off in Nega-Mars like the rest of them. How long until they physically devour his bones?
If you read some of the responses it seems like they've already turned on him somewhat for daring to talk back to the mob about a small technicality like "whether or not it's actually legal"
