Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

I'm gonna archive this video here too since it's the political equivalent of a nuke and should be seen by everyone. This might be one of the most effective salt and derangement miners we ever see since there's absolutely no way for a true believer to watch it and not experience legendary cognitive dissonance.

Damn. That's brutal. Oh, sure, the true believers will wail, 'But it's DRUMMPPPPHH!!!' and come up with all sorts of rationalizations as to why THIS impeachment matters. Still, if this is a taste of things to come, expect Trump's reelection team to blitz the airwaves with every stupid thing Dems have said since 2016.

I found this exceptional piece on Twitter just today, so hope it's not massively late. Strikes me as one of these things that immediately backfire immensely, a primitve jab at the "small hands" meme, but it's Greta who comes off as both massively disfigured, unbearably grumpy (look at that expression) and literally red with anger. Who comes up with this stuff?

Not really. It's the resolution of the state of cognitive dissonance. Making something NOT REAL X, for whatever reason, brings the belief system back into internal consistency. That's my take on it, anyways.
That's what cognitive dissonance is. The rationalization is part of it.

"Cognitive dissonance, the mental conflict that occurs when beliefs or assumptions are contradicted by new information. The unease or tension that the conflict arouses in people is relieved by one of several defensive maneuvers: they reject, explain away, or avoid the new information; persuade themselves that no conflict really exists; reconcile the differences; or resort to any other defensive means of preserving stability or order in their conceptions of the world and of themselves. "

Whenever these "artists" try to own Trump by drawing him as a cartoon villain, it usually looks pretty cool to me. He looks like the Penguin there. Am I not supposed to like that?

I would definitely hang out at Trumpguin's Iceberg Lounge.

That's the bemusing thing about all this. I've talked to probably 15 people in the last week that I consider fairly intelligent and have known for many years. EVERY time I mention the whole Biden shaking down the Ukrainians and canning a prosecutor eing the actual issue, EVERY one of them corrects me and says it was Trump who did that and not Biden. I even showed the video of Biden bragging to one friend, and she said roughly: "Ha! He was doing a parody of what Trump did, calling him out for what he did."

This post fact world is appalling, mostly, but I do like people saying shit that defies all sense. I'm kinda torn.

We live in "Confirmation Bias-World". I haven't seen this level of reality defying nonsense in my life.
I've noticed the same thing with people calling Trump a liar when he says Democrats want to allow post birth "abortion," aka infanticide. There's literally a tape of Ralph Northram saying just that.

That doesn't stop Democrats from denying it though. But I suppose it's not surprising since they also can't even tell the difference between a man and a woman. I hope they never go to Thailand or Brazil.

I stand corrected. I had considered the "cognitive dissonance" to be separate from the "rationalization".

The 2020 Election is going to generate so much fucking salt that this site will be like a kid in a candy store; dear lord. Both excited to see what happens, and yet also bracing for the shitstorm.
I'm not sure what to expect. I was sure Trump winning in 2016 was going to bring Rodney King tier rioting in multiple cities. Instead all we got was some low level "rioting" in DC, speds shrieking and wailing, and totally real hate crime stories (my favorite was one where some dude totally recieved a letter from his neighbors/homeowners association saying that now that America was "great again" all the spics and nigs had to leave the neighborhood).

I'm honestly not entirely sure what to expect.

Im pretty sure we are going to see some serouis violence like in 2016, mainly against red hats again.

And fwiw: if trump wins I'm expecting massive riots

and if the election is close within 1% god help us, democrats have a plan that was leaked where an army of lawyers and protesters would descend on precints that were close everywhere and force them to recount until the results were correct

It's all good. Cognitive dissonance is one of those terms that gets misused a lot so incomplete understandings of it spread from person to person. I look at it as a process, rationalization has to happen on some level for the contradictory viewpoints to be held in the first place. We all basically suffer from it to certain degrees, but those of us who suffer from it the worst tend to have pretty wild reactions to being confronted with it. Which produces most of the insanity this thread is centered on.

Politico has to be one of the few mainstream outlets left with any journalists that even know what journalism is supposed to be about, especially when they do this sort of "long form" reporting. One of their previous ones about the Obama-Hezbollah scandal was a really fantastic piece of work, and now apparently they're digging into Biden's history and dragging the rest of his family in with it.

It's a good example as to why I never panic when it comes to politics, though. A month ago there were more than a small handful of people out there in the world who thought that Biden had a pretty significant chance of making a run at the office, and now he's completely dead in the water. We might not always be able to see the sucker punches ahead of time, but there's one lined up and waiting for every single person who's going to try and step between Trump and re-election. It doesn't matter who they nominate because it's Washington D.C. Everyone has dirt on them, it's just a matter of taking the right swing at the right time and you can take a front-runner from the DNC from the top of the stack to the middle of the list in the span of a few days.

Does anyone really think that Trump only learned about Biden's shady dealings just a week or two ago? Granted you could easily argue that if he knew about it all of this time, why did he wait until now to expose it, but that's because it's easier to bait a trap than it is to go out hunting. Why expose Biden two years ago and give the media and the public all of this time to quit caring, when instead you can wait until Biden's leading the races for the DNC, wait until they've walked into your trap and try to spring a new ___Gate scandal on you, and then kneecap their front-runner on the national stage and reverse their newest, biggest "weapon" at the same time.

After awhile people are going to have to start admitting to themselves that it's really not dumb, blind luck anymore.

I only wish Trump had sat on this until the election. I'm still calling a fix for Biden.

The meltdowns are pretty classic. I mean, just image using the government's intelligence apparatus against a political opponent. Who would ever do such a thing?
BTW keep ignoring shit about FISA abuse, k thanks.

Republicans are pretty terrible about this..they dont know strategy at all.

Democrats always stay tight lipped about things early on and then release bombshells the day before the voting

It's not that simple. If you don't release bombs as you get them, you run the risk of some Dem-controlled media catching wind and defusing it with an advance coordinated narrative.

Dems can afford to wait because they have a stranglehold on media. Reps can't.
