Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Vic moved to TX for a director role in funimation, I don't think Sabat was "quietly phasing Vic out of the industry". If they were going to phase him out quietly, they wouldn't have needed to #metoo him.
Somebody liked Vic enough to line him up for that job. Sabat's dislike for Vic and reputed pull should have been enough to stop it so I assume someone upstairs liked Vic and it was going to take more to dislodge him than Sabat's dislike. This would have kicked the ball out of Funi's hands into Sony's HR dept where Vic would have no protection (may have that backwards I forget the details of whose HR did what). Maybe the CEO that left was the one that wanted him to get the job and they dispensed with him in some way as well.

While Ty did not confirm an appeal, he said, "Do I look like we're not going to appeal?" and that "No one should bet the rent money against it."

Ty's penchant for last minute filing?

I would imagine they are scrutinizing all possible outcomes to make sure there's a worthwile effort to try. I wouldn't ask to reverse ruling with a low probability of being reversed. They could drag down the rulings with better chances. A weak case against Marchi for example makes the case against the rest seem frivalous as well or color their perception. In fact, I suspect a lazy Chupp grabbed Marchi's situation since her lawyer was on the ball and probably had the most succinct material and assumed they were all equal players and never read anything else. I also think the points got lost in the number of charges being covered, sure felt like Chupp judged them collecitvely instead of individually. so they may tunnel focus as much info as possible on the most important charges instead of trying for them all. I assume they are making those kinds of decisions.

I'm curious what the state of the board is right now. Are people optimistic about the appeals? Unhappy about Ty? Mad at Nick? What's the siduation

I don't really have a strong feeling any way about the case. If it appeals, we get to see another helping of autistic American justice. If they don't appeal, at least Vic can go to conventions again

With the added bonus of finding out what conventions are woke circuses.

So, mad at Nick? Not really. I don't really care for him beyond his coverage of Vic, he's too formulaic and unabashedly capitalistic. If I'm going to get m.ilked, I want to at least have the attempt at an illusion.

Mad at Ty? I don't see any reason to be mad when Ty brought us the greatest hits, such as ConsentCon, Mundane Black, Cuck Lightyear, Armzgurl, and Lemongrab

Like Ty or not, if it wasn't for his incredibly autistic approach to this lawsuit... we wouldn't have a whole universe of intrepid clowns to laugh at. Cheers to that man, he is a God of clown world now.

IIRC, Ty said he filed at the last minute because he didn’t want Lemon Man to have a chance to counter, and any “tardiness” is because of processing things that he foresaw as a possibility (not sure what KV painted it as if it was anything besides Ty being a paint chugging moron). Maybe he’s still doing that.

I could be wrong about this, but what the flying fuck could lemony fresh counter about an appeal? "You're honor, vic shouldnt be allowed to appeal because hes a rapist, and deserves less than humane treatment. Motion to send vic to the gulag"

Remember that every step of the way the defense would change their stories and try to fix any hole that got pointed out. Debuting Huber's affidavit early likely would have gotten a counter affidavit like some Sabat one. I dunno how damaging that would be, but I imagine Ty wanted to go into the hearing with a devastating advantage. And to be fair, as people pointed out, he exceeded prima facie on - I think - every count. Chupp just flat out ignored it all and declared that he didn't.

We're optimistic right now. Personally I'm hoping for the best while expecting the worse. But ever sense the TCPA hearing, it's kinda been a gamut of everything you listed.

On the bright side if everything does go to hell and appeals do not happen or are denied, Nick does have the nuclear option to go for devastation on funi, sabat, and others. He has stated he is sitting on a lot and I have no reason to doubt him.

Okay guys, this "Ty filed late to nullify a counter by the defense" confuses the shit outta me.

Instead of waiting til the last minute, couldn't they have filed, say, with 3 hours to spare? That leaves no time for a counter-affidavit or counter-filing. That shit takes time, does it not? So hypothetically, Ty could have got that shit in with a few hours to spare and the defense wouldn't have been able to counter...Right? Or am I just a really fuckin' bad law?

And hey they could actually get anything notarized that needed to be notarized. I'm sure there are strip mall lawyers who know how to notarize things.

Not optimistic about the case.

No opinion on Ty.

I have a personal problem with Nick's streams. Nick has a growing number of autistic sycophants throwing money at him for attention, and he's being way too nice to these cringelords. Someone will superchat 20 fucking dollars to say they're suicidal, and they usually get special attention from Nick, where he seems very empathetic. I sincerely doubt the sincerity of these tearful superchats, and they are also completely discordant to the flow of the stream. I'm becoming reminded of those cringe compilations from those ADGQ events.

"Bing Bing wahoo"
"Hey guys, dad just died of cancer"
*Audience cheers*

I don't watch most streams, so someone else could say how common that is, but I've seen this happen a few times. Generally, Nick's superchats read like lonely young men looking for attention from a father figure:

I agree. I was missing his streams but these weird faggots are so distracting i close the stream after a certain point. Group therapy for daddy issues, only $20 / session!

I had a thought recently...

What's gonna happen to the FMA dubs? Are they gonna scrub them and replace Edward's voice with someone else?

Funimation does not have the rights to the series anymore, it went back to Aniplex. It doesn't matter, though, as Sony owns both.

You do realize that's not what Dear Leader asked. He asked if you were mad at Nick himself.
Josh probably could care less about Nick's superchats.
