Ah, doubling down. Some of your best friends are Indians!
Thanks so much for defending us from... What exactly? White college students not having another sanctioned "protest"? Columbus is long dead, the problems we face have nothing to do with him, and meaningless feel good protests don't help at all with the ongoing problems we face.
Your theme park understanding of some history, which I'm sure you know is passed down orally by tradition, is worse than the "noble Savage" myth. At least people with that level of knowledge are open to education, unlike someone like you who thinks they know it all.
But I do appreciate that you openly say "shut up 'native person' a white man is speaking, look at my credentials". We are not your prop, you are harming us by using us as a political tool in your meaningless "culture war". You people would cheer on the destruction of me and my people if we were perceived as supporting the wrong politics.
You are not my ally. Attending a meeting doesn't grant you the right to speak for us. You are harming us with your defense. Stop.
1. Yes, my best friend is a member of the Cherokee nation. I went through scouting with him as part of the branch located on the reservation. We have long talks about Cherokee culture, history, and contemporary politics. He is personal friends with the current Eastern Band chief. Most of the things I've been saying in this thread are direct quotes of him. I bring this shit up to point out that I am decidedly
not some dumb nigger using Wikipedia as my primary source.
2. Standing Rock wasn't a meaningless protest until that dumb cunt Stein started shitting all over the natives and turning it from a tribal sovereignty issue into a hippy bullshit issue. That's another quote from my old friend, by the way; do you want his number so you can call him a race traitor?
3. Then educate us, professor, about how wrong I am. >inb4 "it's not my job to educate you!"
4. Oh, please, do you even know what site you're on? I don't want you to shut up, I'm calling what you're doing (calling someone out for not being a perfect enlightened lv. 15 Woke Bodhisattva)
stupid. But please, keep doing it.
5. My dude, that friend I keep mentioning voted for Bernie in the general and shares like 70% of his political views with a tankie.
His friend (also Cherokee) voted for Trump. They're both friends with a guy whose politics are borderline-Klan. I like all three of them. Pull the stick out of your ass.
6. You're right: I'm not the ally of self-righteous twats who register accounts on forums just so they can whinge at people about how oppressed they are and how I'm worse than Nazis because I didn't post the verbatim of the entire lecture series of a Native American Studies course and thus left out a lot of complex nuance.
While I'm on that:
obviously there's a lot of complex nuance involved in NAN history in the same way there's a lot of complex nuance in every culture's history. If you want to learn about Native America, scholarly research and historical records are the best place to go.
