Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

You know what's the really sad and/or possibly odd coincidence behind the main character's name for that abomination? It's oddly close to the protagonists name for the great N64 fps Perfect Dark (i.e. Joanna Dark). Which begs the question...why didn't they just make a Perfect Dark movie?
DOOM's currently an active series, while Perfect Dark hasn't been active outside of a remaster in 2010 and 2015's Rare Replay.

Mind you, there are rumors of a reboot in the works for the next Xbox, but it makes more sense to make a DOOM movie.

And really, given how god awful DOOM Annihilation is, be glad Perfect Dark wasn't exploited for a direct to video movie.

You left out the part where he has to explain where the fuck Palpatine came from again?

a good question, but that's a story for another time.

The crystal color being influenced by the owners personality is so dumb. I’m fine with certain colors being chosen by the creator to signify personal philosophies, just user preference or even different colors granting advantages or disadvantages to the saber blade being generated, but having them alter color due to some sort of force bond like it is alive is weird.

wasn't the original lore that you need the force to control the crystal, and the color is a result of that? and the only reason sith crystals were red because they didn't have access to khybers and had to synthesize them (which I always found to be a bit silly, there's not a horde of sith, smuggling in or grabbing one from a forgotten mine shouldn't be an issue)?

or am I confusing it with TOR lore?

So... should I bring up everything on this shitty game? Continue my expose/criticisms of Disney aliens or finish up what I never finished about Galaxy's Edge?

I was a big respawn fan up until titafall 2, I'm always up for another chapter how EA and respawn shit the bed. on the other hand... why not both?

What did he mean by this?
He's referencing the most recent rumors which claim that Exogol has a large black cube smaller than the Death Star floating over its surface which is where Palpatine is hiding out which is itself a do not steal version of the Emperor's Citadel from the old Dark Empire novels which also served as his secret throne.

Also glad to see Pablo Hidalgo finally shat the bed. His damage control over the lady Empress was amusing. One of these days we gotta catalog all the stupid shit he does.

I feel like there was a Predator movie with some Mary Sue girl, am I misremembering that?

I don't think the girl in the latest Predator was too much of a sue. Just the usual woke points about autism and climate change.
They got handed some cool ideas by the 2010 movie, and what they didn't toss in the trash they shit and pissed all over; how you turn the Predator civil war into gay autism gene harvesting is beyond me.

I know there's selling at a loss, but is there a term for something that is bought out as a "surefire failure" but pitched as the companies newfound vision for the product/service? Because putting the useful idiots within and without production aside, I feel like Iger always knew Star Wars would be a loss for them regardless of planning.

Admittedly, the only thing about these movies I've paid the most attention to is the drama surrounding them, it's not even a required watch to understand what goes on in each movie, except for maybe Rogue One.
TFA was VERY well received, and people were legitimately hyped for TLJ before... ya know... they actually saw it. If the recent leaks were true, Iger was lulled into a false sense of security by the success of TFA and decided to go completely hands-off and let Lucasfilm do its own thing. He had zero reason to believe, given the size of the existing fan base and the general reception to TFA, that Star Wars would crash and burn like it did.

there's a Dune movie coming 2020
Dune 2020 is being done by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, The Arrival) and will probably treat the source material with a lot of respect. I personally think Dune is pretty much un-filmable but this will likely be the best stab anyone has taken at it so far.

Because "nerd culture" is now Twitchthots and other "lol such a nerdy gamer gurrrrrl" types, their soyboy beta orbiters, and troons like Brianna Wu, and thus every product needs to dumbed down and remade for this crowd as they watch Big Bang Theory surrounded by Funkopops. It's the "gentrification of nerd culture" so to speak. The unfortunate part is that it isn't limited to shit like Star Wars and superhero comics (which have always been mainstream cultural icons) but instead seeps into practically everything.

They have China to worry about since PR China is an increasingly large market for anime (probably toku too but I'm not sure) and even makes their own stuff. But the only thing SJWs agree with China about is that fanservice is bad. China doesn't seem to go for the generic "strong wahmenz protagonist", nor do they like ugly characters, and they definitely don't like homos.
Nerd culture wasn't even a thing until the MCU and BBT.

Didn't the last Eva movie start with Shinji stuck in a giant orbiting islam cube too?

I thought it was a jokey meme name, as Joanna Dark is fairly well known in gaming circles, but no it's real. Watching that possum review and they got the lead actress's real name wrong in the opening credits.

Agreed that Villeneuve has the best shot, anybody watched the documentary Jodorowsky's dune? The film is described as star wars before star wars and had some great design and character work. You can really get behind the ideas during the documentary, before you really have to think about it and the tech limitions at the time. Overall i think it was way too ambitious and I've also seen parts of holy mountain so i cant get 100% behind the hype.

IMHO, Poe went from Discount Wedge to Discount Nathan Drake - Finn went from exhibit in a natural history museum to.... never mind, he stayed there. Anyhow, folk like this Twitter roastie seem to be the new Star Wars fanbase.

It's funny that BOIIIega's a Christian and he has to constantly put up with the gay innuendo between him and Oscar. I almost feel sorry for him, but he routinely doesn't help his case on Twitter.

a good question, but that's a story for another time.

Potion Seller, enough of these games.

I didn't like Bladerunner 2049, but I'll concede that Denis Villeneuve is a visually stunning director. I guess just let somebody else handle the story/screenplay.

On another tangent, somebody on YouTube remastered the Star Wars Droids show, and it really takes me back. Miles better looking and funnier than the Resistance/Rollout/Females of Destiny garbage from current year:

I mean, come on fellas. How can you not love that intro?

Not to derail too much, but the cast list is really good and nobody has done any weird forcible changes to the characters (like make them women for no reason or change Jessica or Paul to black) so I'm fairly optimistic. It'll be very cut down, but Bladerunner 2049 took it's time and wasn't in a rush so another good point for Dune potentially being a good movie.

I kind of get the sense that much like Hamill, Boyega has quite a bit up of pent up resentment towards Disney over how his character has been treated. I mean Finn had the potential to be a very compelling character yet they turn him into a borderline racist caricature of the cowardly submissive negro that you'd see in Klan propaganda as an example of "one of the good ones".

Not that I follow the movie very closely, but I heard the movie is only adaption of half the book, so the worst thing that can happen is it flops and they never make the second part

does anyone care that the trailer's out tomorrow?

I'm interested in what will be in it. They already blew the load that Palatine is in the movie, wondering if they have another nostalgia hook to trick people into seeing it, like maybe force ghost Anakin is back.

Besides Roger Deakins is the DP, so I'm expecting this movie will have a lot of great vistas

does anyone care that the trailer's out tomorrow?

If the autistic banter between the various communities tangled up produce more content than what's in the final-final-final movie, then probably not. Only yes if it infers more of what we had already speculated on and causes more drama.

I'll probably watch it second-hand via G+G/EFAP/Mr H reactions. I don't really care much to leave a comment or a dislike, so I might just do it later. As with everything Star Wars it's more fun and entertaining to watch channels like these dunk on it.

Yes, but not for the reasons that Disney probably wants me to be. I want to laugh at what new, desperate tactics they'll be using to try and trick people into giving a shit, again. Let's not forget that over half of the last trailer was made up of clips from other (mostly better) movies. I wanna see what the ratio will be this time, followed by the reactions/analysis of dedicated spergs like MauLer on youtube and the good folks on this thread.
