Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

You can repurpose any major Kung FU, Cowboy, or Samurai movie plot into a SW plot with very minimal effort
You can even make zombie stories with Star Wars (ala the novel Dark Troopers).
Sith holocrom creating zombies feels too fitting to have never happen, since they love to try to cheat death, eventually they would cause something like that to happen.

Borrowing heavily from the EU is what I would have done too, which carries its own level of laziness since I'm just taking ideas from other people's work.

But screw it, at least that's a plan! At least there is a solid framework there to work with. This is just a mess.

Jar Jar Abram's entire shtick is "borrowing" from the EU... and fumbling the copying process, resulting in a shittier clone.

Starkiller Base? It's a dumber Galaxy Gun. Finn? He's half the character Kyle Katarn is. Ben Solo/Kylo Ren? Did you mean an immensely retarted Jacen Solo/Darth Cadeus?

And look at The Rise of Skywalkers, and reviving Palpatine! I swear I've heard this before, but's maybe I'm just in the Dark about the return of this leader of the Empire.

The problem lies more with an incompetent, passionless creative team.

Do writers today even understand why Kung Fu, Cowboy, and Samurai movies worked? Lucas was right there for all of those things and knew how to incorporate them into Star Wars.

Film makers today...I mean, would any of them even respect westerns, kung fu, and samurai films, like at all?

The funny thing: I even hated The Galaxy Gun, Darth Cadeus, and the whole concept of Reviving Palpatine, so why he would even go to those aspects is baffling to me.

Again, I hate to be that guy that says "I would have done this" but give me Star Wars, and my first decree would be "Okay, NO PLANET BUSTERS, for fucks sake!", and if somebody suggested the Sun Crusher, I'd throw a paperweight across the room.

The Sun Crusher would have marginally more believable than a planet-sized death star which no one noticed till now. Just sayin'.

If Disney made a Star Wars zombie movie, expect that god awful comic with the ticks that turn aliens into zombies which killed half the sentients in the galaxy in between ROTJ and TFA (yet is never mentioned) and is Disney's canon explanation for where all the familiar aliens went.

I'm a nitpicky cunt and was watching the trailer back. Noticed this at 1:30. Finn is either not looking at the stormtrooper who is just shot and shoots him again mid leap while there are other troopers still firing at him, or he just ND'd while leaping over someone he could easily step around. Also, the blaster's laser is misaligned with the gun barrel. Granted, it's in the middle of an action scene, but I hope the rest of the effects aren't so poorly done.

The thing with those three is that you gotta take risks, even go beyond whats... *clean throat* considered """problematic""".

Today's audience dont have new shit because there is no creativity because creativity requires risks and SJWs hate risks. There is a reason anime and manga are the only few medias not infected by social justice. Hell! They made a big fuzz about a female character getting TICKLED, all cartoonishly so, in My Hero Academia! (and I guess it dared to show some underboob there, omg, the horror).
So since they didnt grow up with those classics, they dont know how to make them and even if they did, today's audience will throw a hissy fit, just look at Joker!

The prequels managed to have serious threats WITHOUT planet busters (hell, sometimes its more deadly something akin to the Death Star ray in ROGUE ONE, where it causes a massive catastrophic, but not apocalyptic, damage to the planet's surface)

If Disney made a Star Wars zombie movie, expect that god awful comic with the ticks that turn aliens into zombies which killed half the sentients in the galaxy in between ROTJ and TFA (yet is never mentioned) and is Disney's canon explanation for where all the familiar aliens went.

At this point, Im so fucking done with the disney canon that Im seriously wondering if thats true or if you are just pulling my leg because its so stupid, it might actually be real.

Stargate was the fucking tits. Was absolutely better than Star Trek and only faggots prefer space communism over MacGyver murdering space egyptians

DS9 was damn good though.

People like to talk about how science fiction has been diddled to death but I can think of several franchises that survived off the top of my head
Stargate died because of creator autism in regards to Universe and has so far escaped continuation
BSG died because of a writers strike and has so far escaped remake
Farscape ended with a cliffhanger turned into a movie and nobody has the balls to try to do anything with that giant ball of Crichton tier insanity
Firefly was a cavalcade of fuckups and will never come back since Serenity also flopped (thank God since modern Whedon is insufferable)
Babylon 5 faded into obscurity and will never be big enough to get off the ground again
And Sliders was only good when it had John Rhys Davies in it

So there are still some properties out there to still enjoy since they're safely dead and never coming back.

That's what I mean; Stargate was a sort of fun movie, and when it was turned in to a series it seemed like a dumb, desperate idea but it actually was good. It just sort of ran too long, and the spinoffs didn't do quite enough enough to separate themselves, and I put that blame squarely on SciFi Channel.
Stargate was thankfully so niche, and in a slow fall for so long, by the time it imploded no one felt a need to try to reboot it because it looked like audiences were tired, but I'm sure they'll get back to it.
I never really did get why Stargate didn't breed trek-like legions of rabid fans.

I don't know what the fuck you're on about with BSG. BSG got its own weird spin off with Caprica, and is getting remade already. https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/new-battlestar-galactica-series-wont-be-a-reboot
The reward of success is having your corpse reanimated before the worms even have set up properly.

Farscape continued with comics. Aside from that, IIRC, Farscape has been saved by how fucked up the rights are, being that its partly owned by the Australian government to ensure that people film things in Australia with Australian actors and crew.

Firefly is shit, I'm glad it got killed (twice, lol), Fight me. The story & setting was a mess (made worse by the fact they were trying to be 'gritty, serious' scifi), the cast just a bunch of Whedon standard archetypes (Fighty girl, fighty hooker girl, strong girl, snarky leader, gruff #2, clueless elite guy, crush on elite guy girl, wacky guy, and spiritual leader). There was one or two fun episodes, but there were fun episodes of Buffy and Angel. That said, other than Joss being overly protective of another one of this murder-hoooker waifus, I have no idea how it thing has escaped reboot this long just based on the publicity from its legend.

Babylon 5 I don't even want to mention lest dark ears overhear. All the spinoffs did...poorly, so I think its safe as long as JMS is alive, since he told the story he wanted to tell and that was it. I have a lot of issues with JMS, but I do admire that he actually takes pride in his work as story teller and telling stories for their own sake, and not simply viewing it as a way to get rich.

Speaking as a fan of two of these three decisions (even I won't defend how dumb the Galaxy Gun is), it's annoying to see the creative work and careful balance of the world-building in the EU destroyed and overshadowed by Jar Jar's replacements.

I'd be down to see what George would have done, but I'd have been equally satisfied with a straight-up film adaptation of the post-ROTJ EU material. Legacy was a badass sendoff.

“Haha! Take that man babies! It’s going to outgross Endgame! We tells ya!”
I see that Disney is pulling a Captain Marvel. I can't wait to see the pictures of the empty seats in the theaters despite the rooms being full on paper.

John Carpenter, the guys who make John Wick...and others

Also you can take the Myth of the destruction of the Southern Shaolin Temple and you use that as a jumping on point to create a new era of force users that are neither Jedi nor Sith

You could easily plug broader survival horror genre into here as well...I.E. the same stuff they do at Marvel. Plug a genre picture into a cape picture

Soylo's release drew just as much hype as the TLJ trailer.
:story:
Remember, if anyone mentions this movie, tell them that Exogol is confirmed, and that they shouldn't watch it. We can kill any hype left in our friends and families

ONLY say that if they mention it. If they don't, remain silent.

But jesus christ, either Google suddenly hates Disney, or they forgot to falsify that graph there. The TFA, RO, TLJ, and Solo toys still rotting in stores is fascinating, I can't wait for them to join ET in that landfill.
