People gripe about woke content all the time and I believe it's misplaced. It should be possible to write a good story regardless of the political message.

What's amazing to me is that any fanfic thread on an average My Little Pony website will likely explain exactly why nobody likes Rey.

I suspect that after generations of shitting on writers Hollywood has finally reached the point where any decent wordsmith would rather work in a shoestore and treat writing as a hobby than even try to publish a script.

And the issues isnt WOKENESS

Its wokeness that doesn't serve the Theme, Tone, Plot, Characters, or any other element of the story. Its wokeness for its own sake and its also preachy. Its out of place and it knows its out of place but it cant stay in its lane

You bet Disney has a massive hateboner for Joker. They tried to do their own "unproblematic" Joker take with Maleficent: Mistress of Lesbians and went into a seizure once the film properly failed at the box office. Things are just not gonna work for them in the long run with Star Wars and the remakes, at this point their only betting game with good results will be any Frozen shit.

I would put money to have someone add a laugh track to RoS ala Friends style. It would be amazing and make the movie worth watching....at home...after I surfed the high seas for it and then deleted it shortly after for not wanting to infect my library with that shit.

To be frank, TFA would've been better off being a story about a rogue stormtrooper rather than Rey who honestly has less reason to exist than Poe. Hell Poe could've been Finn's antithesis in a conflict between the Imperial Remnants and the New Republic while just having the OT characters as successful mentors in lesser supporting roles who aren't losers, just kind of legendary figures people look up to and who the characters speak to once or twice for guidance. But nope. We just had to have ANH 2.0 and just throw 30 years of history and beloved characters out the window.

Why do people keep thinking JJ is going to retcon anything? He already said he ain't and that he respects RJ. As for Ian, he is only in it for for about 3 to 5 minutes. Once at the start to talk with Emo Ren and telling him to go get Rey and at the finale as a cripple who survived for no reason other than "mystery box" and who gets BTFO by Avatar Rey via kamehameha. His quotability only comes from Lucas's talent for cheesy dialogue and he didn't write it.

I would've agreed with you like a year or so ago, and the man definitely knows his SW lore better than anyone at Nu-Lucasfilm, but he might be pressured into bending over to the whims of the execs considering the MCU is being forced to go down same politically correct route as the comics.

Even though it makes sense, thematically, to build up Rey as more and more powerful and Finn as the 'hero' of the first movie....

There's no way TFA could've had a black main character and a white woman as a sub character and expect the franchise to succeed in China.

China hates black people. China wants nothing to do with a movie with a main black person as the lead (black panther aside). Look at any movie paraphernalia that is put up about star wars in china you will see that both Finn and Rose are reduced, relegated, or downright removed. The Chinese hate the Vietnamese (Kelly Marie Trahn is Vietnamese descent) just as much as black folks.

Diseny wants Dollar$ and they will bend over and spread the butthole for the Glory of Dear Leader Poo Bear.
