To play devil's advocate, Brian was really being emotionally abused by his parents, and they seemed to not care about his suicidal tendencies. There's a difference between encouragement and just being callous.
So why is it that you can take questions about Breakfast Club (admittedly a good movie) but avoid real ones? Pretty wack dogg.

I think the problem is that Connor's just insanely frightened of this girl. He's never had any meaningful human contact, or people that desire to be near him, so the fact a girl's trying to talk to him is just too much for his little brain to handle.

That's why he desires my good friend Ms. Ringwald. Because he knows she's unattainable, and therefore he can spare himself the terror of actually talking to a girl.

When a guy's pressured to make straight A's without any leeway for mistakes and is given zero appreciation or respect for it, you'd probably be a little down too.

This movie is 30 years old dude and you're ignoring doing actual work to sperg about a mediocre 80s movie

Yeah, I'd feel bad for that guy... you're not that guy Connor, also, aren't you supposed to be busy with "math"?, no wonder why you suck at writting, you can't focus at anything.

Connor, some people are just bad at expressing if you're doing well, especially if it's something they think you 'should be doing'. But the fact that you're being pushed is a sign of love in itself. It's essentially "You want to be lazy and unfulfilled? Well I won't fucking let you, and I don't care if you hate me for it." People who don't care do just that: not care. I'm sure it's hard sometimes, but I disagree that it's abusive. Sometimes, making people better makes them uncomfortable, and that's okay as long as you have their best on your mind.
