Overwatch

I don't understand, why Overwatch 2?
The leaks show us that ow2 uses the exact same engine as ow now, to the point where the new hero Sojourn looks like Doomfist with white dreads.

I believe OW2 is just a battle pass, or an expansion pack for the original OW.

But Activision lost Bungie, so we will see.

Most likely it is going to be a mayor update on the existing game and not a separate product. For their sake it better not be something that'll require any additional payments. Hell, it better be a free update and it is announced that the game goes Free-To-Play. Charging full price for this crap on top of the microtransactions would be an obscenity. Blizzard is treading on thin ice with all the ill will they garnered after the whole HK Hearthstone censorship fiasco, they better not give extra reason to piss off their remaining fanbase if they want to salvage the shitshow that will become Blizzcon.

They’re just gonna add stuff that people have been asking for for a while, like a proper map editor.

People in this very thread were whining about the lack of story development and limited number of game modes, so OW2 is essentially catering to them even though they don't actually play OW and will go to the graves clutching their Team Fortress 2 DVDs.
So what if it’s been like two years since jungle inferno? Valve’s working on it guys! 12 years strong baby! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (shoots self)

"One new hero", amazing. What a complete overhaul for this amazing season 2 of a game with an esports league so forced it requires a $20m buy-in.

I honestly expected some amazing world-wide league, not just 8 Asian teams using names like London Spitfires and shit.

To be fair, though, TF2 is old and dead(ish). But - If you played TF2 from the start, though, it's gotten a fuckton of updates over it's lifecycle. New story stuff, new games modes, new items, new weapons, new mechanics, basically a new everything several times over. It also shipped in a good state and launched at $20 for the PC (compared to $40/$60 for overwatch). It was $60 on consoles, but it was part of a package of a fuckton of valve games and not sold seprately (compared to $60 for OW).

Overwatch is (nearly?) 4 years old and it doesn't seem like they've added much of substance to it - just ~2 heroes a year that don't drastically change the game at all and skins to stuff into lootboxes and a few small quicky changes. I couldn't imagine launching OW, doing so little with it, and then having the balls to release an OW2 - but I guess we'll see this weekend.

Yeah I still play TF2, and so do tens of thousands of concurrent players. It’s a timeless classic. I’ve played it for over 5 years, I played this shit before taunts and matchmaking were added, it’s crazy to think about.

does anyone even remember the definition of rumor nowadays?

I only read up to like the end of the Overwatch 2 thing, but whether or not all of it is lies, it would not be surprising it was relatively true.
You’ve forgotten that leaks are gay.

I would love to know more inside information about that split. I wonder how much was motivated by all the BS that Blizzard has apparently capitulated to.

In any case, Bungie has regained a great deal of respect from me.
