In May 2018, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons announced a reversion of its guidelines. Previously, transgender prisoners would be housed according to the gender with which they identify. Now, housing will once again be determined by biological sex.

True, but they're also automatically placed in protective custody since they'll be targeted.

Aside from trespassing and petty vandalism, Chris isn't really inclined to committing crimes. The Snyder incident in 2011 and the Blarms incident in 2014 were freak incidents that were the exception rather than the norm and both cases got plead down to misdemeanor status, and the Snyder incident probably would not have happened the way it did if Barb hadn't been there to egg Chris on and make things worse.

If Chris does land a felony conviction, it will be for one of the lighter class offenses. Given his mental state, he'll likely be put in a low-risk minimum security facility and won't really run into the likes of Bubba and Tyrone.

Even in the general population, guys in minimum security usually don't go for stabbing or raping their fellow inmates because they know that if it happens, they'll cop more time on their sentence and be transferred to a more dangerous higher security facility.

Don't get me wrong, even a stay in a minimum security prison would be very hard on Chris due to the lack of Lego and vidya, but he'd be physically safe.

I don't know about that. Almost all of his methods of transitioning to a trans woman are pretty harmful to someone of his health. Evenhormone replacrment therapy which can be safe , is potentially for someone who's overweight and has high blood pressure both things chris has. Then there's the taint wound and unclit which could have been life threatening.

It really should have been. There’s thinking you have the power to roll an object out of your hand, and then there’s thinking you have a vagina growing out of your crotch that needs to be released via a steak knife.
