Like many lefty memes, this wall of text is so loaded with words and subtext that only a few people are going to fully understand. At best, it overloads everyone else. My interpretation of the piece is this: only a few titles get most of the attention, that's not fair, and nobody is innocent.
I see two possible ideals being implied here. 1: Widespread awareness of every entertainment release when the market is more saturated than ever. 2: Most people fragmenting into their own niches. There are also two fundamental problems with that. 1: We all have a finite amount of attention, and near infinite thing that could have it. 2: Most people don't want to work for their entertainment.
Their particular examples don't make a strong case either. Goose game has a very wide range of appeal, stands out among hundreds of indie metroidvanias and rougelikes, and there can only really be one 'goose game'. Kentucky Route Zero is also a relatively popular game in it's genre, especially with critics. That genre has existed for decades, and has always only had niche appeal.
