Valve did add a useful feature called events. It basically allows developers to make posts that show up in your timeline. And that’s really cool, you know?

I’m sorry, but

If you hide your uninstalled games, it's a bit easier to manage. It'd be great if that's done automatically.

I've had to manually set at least 1/3rd of my library's artwork, and lemme tell you how much of a bitch it is to find clean artwork for like pre-2010 PC games. My library is a mismashed collage of "professional" art, cropped physical box art, and poorly compressed clean art. There really needs to be some kind of service for this kind of stuff, like gametdb

I like it because the news section is finally gone. The dynamic collection grouping is pretty clever too, you can sort shit by tags. It's not perfect, but it was fun to play around with.

And by not perfect, I mean like, I made one with the tag "racing", and it groups in every single game that so much as has a racing minigame or something. Open world games like GTA, retro collections with at least one ancient racing game, and even Sonic Adventure somehow, when really I just wanted a category for games that work well with my steering wheel. DOSBOX also isn't a tag for whatever reason, so I had to manually make a DOSBOX category.

Encountered a genuine problem here.

My Steam browser has basically frozen up. I can point the cursor on the bar and lists and bring them up, but the actual display isn't working. At first it was frozen on a collection I was putting together, but now it's just black. Dunno if this is a problem on my end or if it's Steam in general just fucking up.

For now I rolled it back using the video that had the old UI; I'll keep an eye out to see if they improve the new UI over the next year or so, but otherwise I have set Steam to stop updating my client for the foreseeable future.

Not having to see constant RPS garbage when I click on a game is low key the best part of the update.

But anyway, been using the redesign for a month or so now through the beta and I actually really do like it. And this is coming from someone who hates nearly every redesign on every website/app I've ever used. But this is the one time I actually like it. I think it just boils down to the fact that I always used the detailed view, I believe it was called, so the new UI is almost unchanged really. Just feels like they made things like achievements/cards/mods more compact off to the side and got rid of stupid journalist rambling so no complaints from me.

Actually like the home page concept as well because it lets me keep my custom category list on the side and just have the home page dedicated to recently played games and the developer news feed thing which is pretty neat. Though you have to fiddle with it a bit to make it stop showing news for some f2p game you forgot you even played like 5 years ago.

I love it, been using it since the beta. The old one was horrifyingly slow on my system for whatever reason, and I couldn't tell indie games from each other and decide what to play, so I only launched it when I already decided on playing some big-name title. I don't buy keys or participate in gamified sales, so everything I have on Steam I must have wanted at some point (about 300 games and dlcs total, including CK2 and 14 versions of the same puzzle game I got for school).

I didn't know about detailed view in the old version (provide your own boomer joke).

Cards can fuck off forever. I hate it when I see a message and expect a community ban for twansphobia but it's some faggy card instead.

News were a parasitic extortion racket, glad it's finally shut down.

So it's essentially the Steam Link/Big Picture setup?

Eh... I'll live with it.

I can't find the list of games i've marked hidden, ie. 80% of my games. Nice. :)
steam://open/minigameslist

Copy paste that into a browser, and then log into steam, and it will give you a mini list, which is formatted like the old one.

It's fine as long as you tinker with it and enable low performance mode, disable community content, enable low bandwidth mode and set custom covers for the games without full icons. Aesthetically it's alright though.
