Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Thats not to say turner doesn't have good designs like Golurk, buzzwole, or mandibuzz(i think that was a /vp/ chart trying to cut out his good stuff). Honestly i think most of the new mon are pretty good. So I cant complain, at this point all thats left is to play the game.

Plus Trevanant which is one of my favourites even though it's just a spooky tree.

You can see the resemblence in a lot of the new pokemon.
I remember a interview were masuda was excited to have a real anglo in charge of the galar mon.

So one guy was responsible for the shittiest pokemon designs? Interesting to know.

The only Pokemon on that picture he actually designed was the Vanilluxe Line. It's basically a meme picture.

These are the Pokemon he designed:
-Shadow Lugia
-Vanilluxe Line
-Golurk Line
-Mandibuzz Line
-Trevenant Line
-Buzzwole
-Guzzlord
-Naganadel Line

And while he didn't design it(an unnamed female staffer did), he finalized the design of Bruxish.

I guess /vp/ really got me huh. Worst part is i new he designed all these too, except bruxish

So it looks like there will only be 400 Pokemon in Sword/Shield. It's been confirmed by the main leakers, lots of people are in full meltdown mode which I have to say is quite entertaining to read. There are 94 new pokemon (including regionals), and 306 old ones. I had estimated about 50% of Gen 1-7 would be cut, but it looks like its approximately 62%. That's pretty rough, I was likely not gonna buy it anyway but I was hopeful. Now it's gonna be an easy pass. Now we know why GF tried to keep everyone in the dark until release. Also it seems people don't understand that you can't transfer pokemon either. There are only 400 in the game, you will not be able to transfer in anything besides those 400. That's gonna be really ugly when people realize that after buying the game.

Further breakdown of the 400.

Gen 1: 13.21%
Gen 2: 8.23%
Gen 3: 10.72%
Gen 4: 9.23%
Gen 5: 21.2%
Gen 6: 7.98%
Gen 7: 8.98%
Gen 8: 20.2%

Its too cold for bulbasaur!

I find the selection...underwhelming to say the least because I was hoping that there would be 500 mons. All I can really do is shrug and says "c'est la vie." Most of the complainers will likely be the competitive players upset at what this will do to the metagame.

Meanwhile, I excited to see what these pokemon can do on the battlefield.

Don't get me wrong, I'm eager to see what these new mons can do. I'm already assembling a team in my mind. So far I'm definitely going for Cinderace and Corvinknight. Galarian Cofigrigus looks like my jam. Still undecided on whether to go for Galvantula (an old favorite) or the Yamper evolution.

*shrugs*

I honestly didn't care about the cut. And I still don't

People will probably yell out "player choice! Player choice!" and while that is an issue, let's face it, despite the 'player choice' in the games, competitive players use the same pool of pokemon. Casual players have shown to not really care or just shrug their shoulders and walk away.

And of course, you'll get the ass hurt people.

Those are always good for laugh.

technically speaking, while some of the designs are meh to me - I like them in general, and can see there was a lot more effort put into the game.

I'm still a little skeptical on the information we have, so I'm still holding onto whatever little hope we have.

Edit: Also... Holy Crap

... Dat looks good.

I am incredibly basic in my favorite Pokemon choice (Vaporeon) and I will never run the risk of having it not be in the game. That said, gonna miss Lycanroc, love that dude.

But that list is workable for me at least. I'm mainly bummed by no Rapidash evolution.

Is anyone else pissed there’s no new Eeveelution for this generation? It’s been a tradition to add one or two new Eeveelutions for every even-numbered generation:
  • Espeon and Umbreon in Gen 2
  • Leafeon and Glaceon in Gen 4
  • Sylveon in Gen 6
I’m sad they broke the tradition because I would love to see a new Eeveelution. There are still so many types that have gone unused.

Also, I’m disappointed by the selection, but my favorites (Growlithe, Arcanine, and the Eeveelutions) made the cut so I can’t be too mad. There are still some that I love who were cut, though.

Eh...

Personally, I can take or leave it.

I'm one of those people who bought that eevee and eeveelution statue for his GF for Christmas, if they had introduced a new one, I'd get a little pissed off.

Granted, what type would they go for with an Eeveelution?

I feel bipolar when it comes to this game, one leaked and it looked terrible so I'd dwell on that the entire five minutes until the next one got released, it looked ok and I'd be happy, on repeat the entire weekend. I don't even know how to feel about dexit anymore, I'm so confused. I don't mind some of the ones that look different, a few of them are growing on me but man some of these designs are just so bad. Most of the choices surrounding these games have been terrible or horribly executed- the fossils are abominations, I love the concept and the zolt part is adorable so I'm a bit disappointed that it had to be added to such a big body. Here's to hoping that there's some sort of version difference where you can get the other halves or they can become complete in the new version.

So it's about twice to .5 times bigger than the other games regional Dex? That's fine.

Yeah it sucks that you can't trade in Pokemon from outside the regional Dex along the way to build your desired team, but the writing has been on the wall for a while on this. I'd say since Gen V they've been preparing for this, trying to bring new life into old Pokemon. Hidden Abilities, Mega Evolutions, Regional Variants, Ultra Beasts, the aim behind these I think was to make reusing old Pokemon viable and to make cutable content. S&M really showed this, with the national Dex not being available until several months later and not on the cartridge.

As it stands, I find it disappointing, but not hugely upsetting. I don't get into competitive play, I do enjoy randomized nuzlockes, but Gen 6/7 are still waiting for emulation to catch up to dig into those.

Well even if this gen turns out to be a flop, at least some of the designs are pretty neat. The bird Pokemon with the red eyes and white markings underneath is pretty creative without being over the top.

I saw the rest of leaks and while some of the newer 'mons look interesting I'm jus shocked at HOW many Pokemon were culled, I really hope that leak about the Dex expanding in the post-game is real because only having 400 'mons (excluding Mew AFAIK, the leaker never revealed Mew's placement due to the Poke Ball Plus requirement) is just pitiful by today's standards.

Not really, there's an odd pattern with Eeveelutions (IIRC it has to do with how types were originally split into physical and special classes between Gen I and III and how all of Eevee's evolutions were originally special-aligned types barring Fairy) that only leaves the Dragon type left untouched. That and it gives furries one less 'mon to jerk their gherkins to.
