Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Do you guys think we would ever need a Disney thread in general for cows?
There's already a Disney General Thread here in the Multimedia sub-forum.

Which is more likely, that Disney meticulously made a contract with royalties with Lucas, then turned around and killed his characters?
Or that these characters are killed to not overshadow their donut steels?
Why not both?

Whatever contract was signed when Lucas sold SW to Disney probably has provisions for royalties if certain Lucas-era characters and concepts are used. Disney -- for whatever reason -- would rather kill off, retcon, or disregard everything from the Lucas era to minimize the amount they pay out in royalties. So, Disney chose to give fans a new batch of characters (Rey, Poe, Finn, Hux, Snoke, Ben/Kylo, etc.) who on the surface seem like they could be the sequel-era counterparts of Lucas' characters except that the former have neither personality nor character development. Instead, they're portrayed on-screen as generic "Oh See! Donut steel!" and not characters that fans can relate to on any sort of meaningful level.
[E: wrong word]

They want to build the future on their own content that they made[ my inside source confirmed]

I think that Occam's Razor is a technique to apply here:

Given the general nihilism shown so far, it doesn't really matter. We will be right there to laugh our rear ends off.

Ya Boi Zack made an excellent argument in a recent video: Rey is not a Mary Sue, because she isn't a character at all. She's merely a blank slate for the audience to imagine themselves inhabiting
The problem with his arguement is that being a blank slate is a common trait of being a Mary Sue, it's so common it's the very first example TVtropes lists https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CommonMarySueTraits
What personality? The typical Mary Sue doesn't have one, because she isn't meant to be a character; rather, she's an entity by which the author makes cool stuff happen. She's thus not defined by her personality, but rather by her special powers, fantastic romances, and random acts of heroism.
Is Rey a Mary Sue? The best summary I've seen comes from hackfraudmedia
A: Rey is a enormous Mary Sue

On a related note, what is hackfraudmedia? A plinkett imitator?
Yes, he started when RLM dropped the ball in their ST analysis. You can hear RLM 'grandpa' plinkett in the background throughout his videos and hackfraudmedia is a reference to RLM and their constant referral to themselves as hack frauds.

Can you save all of those videos as .mp4s? I'm always suspicious of the longevity of Disney critical work.
If you use firefox or chrome the extension videodownloadhelper can pretty much pull any video that gets played. I should get E;R's videos as his channels more likely to be yeeted.

Pretty much, created because RLM have gone soft, in the wake of selling out to the MAN a few years ago...

That's aged just a bit badly, they're quite harsh on Star Wars now.

In preparation of the shitshow that is Episode IX, it comes to my attention that there’s so many plot holes and unresolved mysteries in the What If trilogy that it needs to be addressed, which I don’t think Episode IX can honestly.
  1. Why didn’t the Resistance or the First Order not just go the area where Luke was hiding out?
  2. How did Rey managed to learn how to fly and repair a ship while being flawlessly skilled with a lightsaber?
  3. How did Poe survived from that sand hole?
  4. Where did Snoke come from? Is he a host for the emperor or his pupil?
  5. Why did the Resistance even go to that casino planet and yet have Benico Del Toro eat them out?
  6. What made Laura Derm decided to hyper drive into Snoke’s ship?
  7. Why did Rose stopped Finn from sacrificing himself from saving the rebels?
Fill free to bring up more plot holes.

It was very much a kneejerk reaction to RLM's more enthusiastic reception of TFA, you had people calling them sellouts and Disney shills at the time.
to be fair I was pretty enthusiastic to. Hell I still kinda like the film. A lot of the initial wonder has worn off and I can definitely see the cracks but I'll put it on from time to time. Objectively it's about 4 or 5 but subjectively its about a 6 or 7.

Why didn't Anakin call down lightning to kill Snoke?

I remember when Anthony Daniels was at DragonCon in the Mid90s. This was when it was OK to walk around with leather, electrical tape on your nips, and be one step out of a BDSM Mad Max film. Ole C3PO himself was the "Guest of Honor" at this fetish event where he was the narrator while women (barely more covered than a thong and X with electrical tape) on stage were:

1. Getting eggs broken over them while being saran wrapped to a spinning wheel
2. Being beat by a flaming Cat O'100 tales (Daniels himself took a few wacks at that)
3. Basically being tied to a cross and electrocshocked on all the fun parts, again C3PO himself laughed while cranking up the voltage.

All in all a great time that probably scarred me for life (I digress) , and all these fucking harridans can't wait for him to move over so ReySue can shit all over the screen.

I so wish we could fry these KarenKlones in a 1MegaWatt Microwave oven.

lmao, I wish I could have been there, sound hilarious.

I miss how freewheeling and wild American culture used to sometimes get in the 90s and 2000s, SJWs are so buttoned down.

Well hopefully things'll balance out for a bit... Then the right will start being moral busibodies and the cycle will start all over again

According to Disney lore, Yoda, Kenobi and Anakin are omniscient as force spirits and knew everything was going to go to shit but did nothing to stop it. According to Yoda's narration in the Disney ROTJ novelization, they knew Luke was going to drink titty milk and become a loser but they didn't say anything because they didn't want to ruin the Ewok party.

But then a second book stated that it wasn't because the ghosts were dumb douche-bags, it was because Luke cut himself off from the Force like a dumb d-bag, so he couldn't see them, despite Yoda appearing in front of him anyway to burn a tree 30 years later while ignoring that Luke only cut himself off after trying to kill Emo Ren, so nu-Yoda and the other fuckers had plenty of time to warn him. But fuck it. They just write this shit for the sake of fixing plot holes and narrative flaws in the movies rather than writing because of a genuine interest in the setting. That and Disney probably doesn't pay them well enough to put any real effort into this shit.

For a while I’ve been wondering. If it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make this a Community Watch thread. That’s basically what it is now.
I think it depends on how IX performs. If it actually does under-perform, there will be a lot of salt to be mined (assuming the shills don't just do a 180 and start claiming they never gave a shit about SW to save face which is a scenario I've discussed before. Its already starting to pop up on several sites where nobody is trying to defend Disney and just prefer to say that SW always sucked because they realize there's no way they can keep defending Disney.

Anyway, might as well try to raise spirits a bit by posting dank SW memes again. Found some new ones on /tv/. Not sure if they've been posted here before, but whatever.
